[OVERVIEW]
Garbodor is a solid Spikes setter in the tier thanks to its mixed bulk, good typing, and wide movepool. As a Poison-type, it is capable of checking Fighting-type Pokemon such as Passimian, Toxicroak, and Scrafty, as well as Fairy- and Grass-type Pokemon like Aromatisse and Tsareena. An immunity to Toxic and the ability to absorb Toxic Spikes makes it very hard to wear down passively, and the combination of Aftermath and Rocky Helmet is great for punishing U-turn users like Togedemaru and Scyther. However, Garbodor lacks reliable recovery and is forced to use the suboptimal Pain Split, making it hard to check what it wants to over a long match. It also faces competition from Weezing, which lacks Spikes but has better physical bulk and access to important moves in Will-O-Wisp and Taunt.

[SET]
name: Physically Defensive Spikes

move 2: Gunk Shot
move 3: Stomping Tantrum
move 4: Pain Split / Toxic Spikes
item: Rocky Helmet / Black Sludge / Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Aftermath
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
A physically defensive set lets Garbodor sufficiently check physical attackers such as Passimian and Swords Dance Toxicroak. Stomping Tantrum helps Garbodor hit Steel-types that would otherwise stop it from doing anything other than laying Spikes such as Togedemaru and Silvally-Steel. Toxic Spikes can be used over Pain Split on more defensive teams that appreciate the role compression Garbodor provides. Toxic and Corrosive Gas are two solid alternatives on the last moveslot for their ability to cripple opposing defensive Pokemon and remove the opponent's item, respectively, but lack the general utility of the other moves. Rocky Helmet is the preferred item because it heavily punishes the physical attackers Garbodor checks. Black Sludge gives Garbodor some passive recovery, which is useful when it remains on the field for long periods of time. Heavy-Duty Boots is potent in avoiding entry hazards damage, which is useful for teams that rely on Garbodor as a physical wall. The Speed investment is important for outspeeding foes up to neutral nature base 50s, which includes Alolan Exeggutor and Aggron. A specially defensive spread can be run in order to better check Pokemon such as Nasty Plot Toxicroak and Ribombee. Garbodor appreciates support from specially defensive partners like Lanturn and Gigalith. These Pokemon can check strong special attackers such as Heliolisk and Magmortar, and, in return, Garbodor can absorb Toxic Spikes and check Fighting-types like Hitmonlee and Passimian. Spikes support is also appreciated by breakers such as Magmortar and Alolan Exeggutor, as it can help wear down their checks.

[OVERVIEW]
Garbodor is a solid Spikes setter in the tier thanks to its workable mixed bulk, good typing, and wide movepool. As a grounded Poison-type, it is capable of checking Fighting-type Pokemon such as Passimian, Toxicroak, and Scrafty, as well as Fairy- and Grass-type Pokemon like Aromatisse and Tsareena. It also faces competition from Weezing, who lacks Spikes but has better physical bulk and access to an important move in Will-O-Wisp. (taunt might be worth mentioning too, very useful utility option. you should probably reword this last bit to say "...access to important utility moves in Taunt and Will-O-Wisp." rather than giving taunt some separate mention.)

good work on this overview! nothing substantial i have to say other than the brief thing about taunt.

[SET]
name: Specially Defensive Spikes
move 1: Spikes
move 2: Gunk Shot
move 3: Stomping Tantrum
move 4: Pain Split / Toxic Spikes
item: Heavy-Duty Boots / Black Sludge
ability: Aftermath
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 32 Atk / 168 SpD / 56 Spe

This set attempts to maximize Garbodor's special bulk in order to sufficently check Pokemon such as Quiver Dance Ribombee and Nasty Plot Toxicroak. Gunk Shot increases Garbodor's damage output despite its lack of invesment, although its inconsistency can hurt Garbodor. Stomping Tanturm is used for hitting Steel- and Poison-types such as Togedemaru and Toxicroak, who would otherwise be able to stay in on Garbodor indefinitely. Toxic Spikes can be used over Pain Split on more defensive builds such as stall if the role compression is needed; however, this cuts into Garbodor's bulk and forces it to rely on outside means to heal itself. Heavy-Duty Boots ignores entry hazards damage, allowing it to be a more reliable switchin to the special attackers it wants to check. Black Sludge is useful when Garbodor is expected to spend several turns on the field and also increases its recovery. The given EV spread ensures that Garbodor will after OHKO Togedemaru after Stealth Rock with Stomping Tantrum and outspeed Aggron, while the rest is put into its special bulk. Garbodor enjoys further hazards support from Pokemon like Gigalith and Regirock in order to further wear down its check. In return, it can efficiently check Fighting-types for them. It also enjoys checks to Ground- and Psychic-type Pokemon. Jellicent and Guzzlord can serve as these checks, and enjoy Garbodor checking Toxicroak as well as removing Toxic Spikes, which can cripple them.

right, so qc doesn't think that spdef garb deserves to have its own set. it's better for checking np croak, which is certainly useful, and it generally stomachs hits from special attackers well, but it's too similar to physdef to warrant having its own set. at some point below, though, mention somewhere towards the beginning/middle that you *can* run a special defensive set to better check np croak and such.

name: Physically Defensive Spikes
move 1: Spikes
move 2: Gunk Shot
move 3: Stomping Tantrum
move 4: Pain Split / Toxic Spikes
item: Rocky Helmet / Heavy-Duty Boots slash black sludge after helmet but before boots, passive recovery is incredibly useful on this.
ability: Aftermath
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
A physically defensive set trades Garbodor's ability to better check Pokemon such as Nasty Plot Toxicroak to check more physical attackers such as Passimian and Togedemaru. Rocky Helmet is the preferred item because of how many more physical hits this set plans on taking, and its ability to heavily punish contact moves is appreciated; because of this, the Attack investment needed in the specially defensive spread to OHKO Togedemaru is uneeded as it will almost always be taking damage from Rocky Helmet to offset this. (put a bit about black sludge here.) Heavy-Duty Boots is still potent in avoiding entry hazards damage, which is useful for teams that rely on Garbodor as a physical wall. Instead of physically defensive partner, this Garbodor appreciates support from specially defensive partners like Lanturn and Gigalith. These Pokemon can check strong special attackers such as Heliolisk and Magmortar, and, in return, Garbodor can absorb Toxic Spikes (both of the special attackers you mention commonly run boots, so this isn't that big a deal for them.) as well as check Fighting-types like Hitmonlee and Passimian. Spikes support is also appreciated by Ribombee and Whimsicott, (i feel like this could be less specific while still getting the point across.) as they can help wear down their checks such as Aggron and Togedemaru.

reword all sentences that reference the spdef set. even if that set weren't being deleted, analyses shouldn't generally cross-reference sets and you do that a few times throughout the physdef set's description. other than that, mention toxic and corrosive gas as alternate moves, but don't slash either.

Implemented! I though SpDef was the most common set since I always see it over PhyDef which is why I wrote it up, but I understand how PhyDef could be better.

For the point about TSpikes, Garbodor is not absorbing them for the special attackers, but for Lanturn and Gigalith. Not sure if that needs clarifying in the analysis so I was surprised when I was asked to write something there.

A physically defensive set trades Garbodor's ability to better check Pokemon such as Nasty Plot Toxicroak to check more physical attackers such as Passimian and Togedemaru. (replace this sentence. it doesn't make much sense and still suggests that spdef has a set.) Stomping Tantrum helps Garbodor hit Steel-types that would otherwise stop Garbodor from doing anything other than laying Spikes such as Togedemaru and SIlvally-Steel. Toxic Spikes can be used over Pain Split on more defensive builds that appreciate the role compression Garbodor provides. Spikes support is also appreciated by wallbreakers, (list examples here, like the ones you'd mentioned before. i didn't intend for you to remove them entirely when i made my earlier comment, but you just listed them specifically without qualifying it with "wallbreakers such as..." or smth.) as they can help wear down their checks.

ik you'd mentioned what the speed evs do in the spdef description, but it's not here anymore, so you should mention it again somewhere here. after that sentence, mention that running a spdef set is a viable option, but then say why physdef is generally more useful.

  • The main problem I see with your check is you making a lot of unnecessary changes, aka subjective changes. Those changes don't modify what the sentence is saying, which is good, but they also don't improve it in any way, which is not what we want to do when GP checking.
    • "(...) U-turn users like such as Togedemaru and Scyther." This change here is a good example of that. Changing "like" to "such as" doesn't improve this sentence at all. This is something we would only do if the writer repeated the structure "Pokémon like X, Y, Z" over and over.
  • If you're going to use abbreviations to mark what punctuation changes should be done, explain what the abbreviations mean before the check, or write it in the check itself like I did.
  • Be careful when dealing with QC content. The change you made here removed QC info that the Speed investment is for neutral base 50s. "The Speed investment is important for outspeeding everything up to neutral base 50s base 50 Speed targets"
  • Don't join sentences unless it is needed. There is no improvement made from joining these two sentences. Matter of fact, it makes the sentence more tiring to read by making it even longer. Only make those types of changes (joining or separating sentences) if it improves readability.
