Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet / Black Sludge
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 HP / 228 SpD / 28 Spe
Careful Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Pain Split
Garbodor has cemented itself as one of the best defensive Pokemon in the tier thanks to its ability to check problematic offensive Pokemon such as Passimian, Sceptile, and Comfey. Although Garbodor faces competition from other bulky Poison-types like Vileplume, Weezing, and Golbat, it differentiates itself from them with its access to both Spikes and Toxic Spikes, which lets it support its team in a unique way. Garbodor's entry hazard support pairs well with U-turn and Volt Switch users like Passimian and Heliolisk, greatly punishing the opponent for switching to their checks to such Pokemon. Garbodor also appreciates being paired with Pokemon such as Dhelmise and Blastoise that can check opposing Ground-types for it; these two also provide Rapid Spin support, preventing it from being chipped down by opposing hazards.
