[OVERVIEW]

Gardevoir graces RU with a strong offensive typing and good utility in Trace, Trick, and Healing Wish, making it one of the tier's premier Choice Scarf users. Very few Pokemon in the tier are able to come in on its STAB combination, and the few that do, like Registeel and Hisuian Goodra, often find themselves crippled by being given a Choice Scarf with Trick. Additionally, Gardevoir can give powerful teammates like Galarian Zapdos, Volcanion, and Mamoswine a second chance to break through teams with Healing Wish. However, Gardevoir's awkward natural Speed tier makes it heavily reliant on holding a Choice Scarf to outrun threats like Noivern and non-Choice Scarf Gengar, making it rather prediction-heavy. Its otherwise great offensive typing leaves it walled by Steel-types like Jirachi and Empoleon; while these Pokemon are often crippled by Trick, this forces Gardevoir to have to choose between continuing to act as speed control or crippling a Pokemon that otherwise walls it. Gardevoir's typing is also underwhelming defensively; when combined with its poor bulk, this leaves it vulnerable to faster revenge killers, such as Choice Scarf Galarian Zapdos, and priority from the likes of Bisharp and Entei.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====

Psychic Noise is an alternative Psychic-type STAB option that, while weaker than Psychic, can let Gardevoir hinder bulkier Pokemon like Slowbro and Hippowdon by preventing them from recovering. Psyshock is another alternative STAB move that lets Gardevoir target the likes of Chansey and Calm Mind Suicune, hitting their weaker Defense stats. Gardevoir can run Focus Blast or Mystical Fire to prevent it from being walled by Steel-types like Registeel, letting it retain its Choice Scarf for longer. Mystical Fire also lets it reliably hinder special attackers like Nasty Plot Mew and Hisuian Goodra on the switch. However, running coverage forces Gardevoir to forgo one of its valuable utility moves. Knock Off and Will-O-Wisp are usable utility alternatives; the former lets Gardevoir retain its item while forcing progress, while the latter can cripple physical sweepers like Bisharp and Gyarados as well as Steel-type switch-ins like Jirachi. Teleport lets Gardevoir keep up momentum for its team and bring in threatening wallbreakers, though its poor bulk makes it vulnerable to being KOed before it can pivot out. Choice Specs can be run over Choice Scarf to amplify Gardevoir's damage output, notably guaranteeing a 2HKO on Choice Specs Hisuian Goodra, though Gardevoir's awkward Speed tier leaves it vulnerable to faster attackers like Krookodile.

Checks and Counters
====

**Steel-types**: Gardevoir's STAB combination is resisted by the tier's many bulky Steel-types, like Empoleon, Assault Vest Magnezone, Registeel, and Jirachi, with the last three being able to threaten it out with their Steel-type STAB moves. Hisuian Goodra, while lacking a resistance to Moonblast, can also come in safely thanks to its good special bulk and threaten Gardevoir out. However, all of these Pokemon must be wary of being given a Choice Scarf, though Jirachi can run a Choice Scarf of its own to get the jump on Gardevoir.

**Special Walls**: Chansey can sponge Gardevoir's attacks comfortably, cripple it with Thunder Wave, and wear it down with Seismic Toss, while Alolan Muk is similarly able to take a Moonblast from Gardevoir before threatening it out with Poison Jab. Both must be wary of Trick, however.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Faster Choice Scarf users, like Galarian Zapdos, Krookodile, and Gengar, can get the jump on Gardevoir before KOing it with their strong STAB moves, though they struggle to come in safely against it.

**Priority**: Gardevoir's poor Defense stat leaves it vulnerable to many of the tier's common forms of priority after it has sustained chip damage, such as Slither Wing's First Impression, Entei's Extreme Speed, Mimikyu's Shadow Sneak, and Bisharp's Sucker Punch.

Gardevoir graces RU with a strong offensive typing and good utility in Trace, Added Trace here since Trace utility is one of the big reasons you use Gardevoir Trick, (AC) and Healing Wish, making it one of the tier's premier Choice Scarf users. However, Gardevoir's awkward natural Speed tier makes it heavily reliant on holding a Choice Scarf to outrun threats like Noivern and non-Choice Scarf Gengar, making it rather prediciton-heavy. Its otherwise-great offensive typing leaves it walled by Steel-types like Jirachi and Empoleon; while these Pokemon are often crippled by Trick, this forces Gardevoir to have to choose between continuing to act as speed control or crippling a Pokemon that otherwise walls it. Gardevoir can act as a setup sweeper with Calm Mind and Draining Kiss, but its lacking bulk means that it often struggles to find setup opportunities.
Add Psyshock as a method of hitting Pokemon such as Chansey and Calm Mind Suicune on the physical side.
Knock Off and Will-o-Wisp are also options on Gardevoir. Knock Off can cripple switch-ins if Gardevoir doesn't want to Trick away its Choice Scarf, while Will-o-Wisp can help against physical sweepers while still hitting Steel-types.
Finally, Teleport can be used in order to keep up momentum for Gardevoir's teammates while safely getting in powerful wallbreakers.

Reuniclus cannot reliably switch into Gardevoir, as Moonblast does 40% minimum to it, with Tera Fairy just 2hit KO'ing Reuniclus outright. There aren't too many special walls that can take on Gardevoir while also not being Steel-type, though Specially defensive Gastrodon is probably the best. If you don't want to include Gastrodon, then you can just make it Chansey+A-muk and change the next sentence to both. All three must be wary of Trick, however.

**Faster Revenge Killers**: Faster Choice Scarf users, like Galarian Zapdos, Krookodile, and Gengar, can get the jump on Gardevoir before KOing it with their strong STAB moves, though they struggle to come in safely against it.
