move 2: Scald / Earthquake
move 3: Recover
move 4: Toxic / Protect
item: Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers

nature: Sassy
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Gastrodon sets itself apart with its excellent Water / Ground typing in combination with Storm Drain. This unique set of traits allows it to flourish on defensive teams, where it is able to check a number of strong special attackers such as Mega Latias and Volcanion while supporting the team with passive damage. Spikes or Stealth Rock allow Gastrodon to support its teammates by wearing down the opposing team. If the team already has entry hazards covered, Clear Smog can be used to stop common setup sweepers such as Victini and Clefable that would otherwise greatly threaten Gastrodon and its teammates. Scald is used to cripple both physical attackers and poison-immune Pokemon with a burn. Earthquake is an alternative for more immediate pressure against Poison- and Steel-types such as Galarian Slowking and Iron Moth, but it leaves Gastrodon unable to punish switch-ins like Celesteela and Skarmory. The final moveslot is usually given to Toxic, which allows Gastrodon to slowly wear down its answers. Alternatively, Protect can be used in tandem with Leftovers to improve its longevity while also scouting common Choice-locked Pokemon such as Latios, Meowscarada, and Enamorus. Gastrodon's great special bulk and unique resistances allow it to help out Pokemon like Skarmory, Slowbro, and Tangrowth that struggle against strong Fire- or Electric-type attacks from Pokemon like Volcanion, Sandy Shocks, and Zeraora. Gastrodon can get worn down quickly through poison and burn and therefore appreciates cleric support from Pokemon like Clefable and Blissey. Its low Defense also leaves it susceptible to strong physical attackers such as Mega Tyranitar and Meowscarada, and therefore, it appreciates physical walls such as Tangrowth and Buzzwole that can handle those threats. Gastrodon is also very weak to Pokemon that use Grass-type moves such as Serperior and Iron Moth and therefore needs to be wary of coverage from Pokemon it is used to check. Secondary special walls like Blissey, Galarian Slowking, and Celesteela are therefore appreciated.

I appreciate the effort but there's a lot that needs addressing before I can give this a check mark. DM me if you have any questions.

name: Specially Defensive
move 1: Clear Smog / Stealth Rock / Spikes you should have Rocks/Spikes as the main move, since it tends to get more mileage on standard teams than Clear Smog. Clear Smog is seen more on Stall and Fat but those tend to like the spikes support from Gastro instead of Clear Smog. Please make changes to your analyses to reflect that

move 3: Recover

Gastrodon sets itself apart with its excellent Water/Ground typing in combination with Storm Drain. This unique set of traits allows it to flourish on defensive teams where it is able to wall check a number of strong special attackers such as Thundurus Thundy tends to carry Grass Knot to lure Gastrodon, choose another mon like Mega Latias probably and Volcanion, while supporting the team with passive damage or entry hazards. Clear Smog can be used to stop common stallbreakers setup sweepers such as Tapu Fini Victini Fini is a weird mention since Gastro hates Scarf Fini and Trapper Fini. and Clefable that would otherwise greatly threaten Gastrodon and its teammates. If the team lacks a Stealth Rock setter, Clear Smog can be swapped out for Stealth Rock if the team has options for dealing with those threats someplace else. see my comment about making rocks the main move Scald is used primarily for its burn chance, able to cripple both physical attackers and poison immune Pokemon with a burn. Earthquake is an alternative for more immediate pressure against Poison- and Steel-types such as Galarian Slowking and Iron Moth, but leaves Gastrodon unable to punish switch-ins like Celesteela and Skarmory. Recover is necessary to keep Gastrodon healthy throughout the match. fluff since its obvious why recover is used on a defensive mon The final moveslot is usually given to Toxic, which allows it to slowly wear down its answers. Alternatively, Protect can be used in tandem with Leftovers to improve its longevity while also wearing opposing Pokemon down through passive damage from burn or sand and poison from Gastrodon’s teammates scouting common choice locked users such as Latios, Meowscarada, and Enamorus. using protect to chip stall is incredibly situational and not the main purpose of protect. This set invests maximally into HP and Special Defense in order to take minimal damage from the special attackers Gastrodon is used to switch into. fluff since we can already tell what the EVs do by looking at them. Gastrodon fits well on defensive teams where its passivity is most manageable. Its ability to take on dangerous stallbreakers like Clefable and Tapu Fini is appreciated by many defensive Pokemon who struggle to deal with them such as Blissey, Skeledirge and Mega Sableye. you're repeating yourself since you already mention this in the second sentence. Its great special bulk and unique resistances allow it to help out Pokemon like Skarmory and Tangrowth who struggle against strong Fire-type moves what about mons that benefit from Gastrodon checking Electric-types such as Sandy Shocks and Zeraora?. Gastrodon can get worn down quickly through poison and therefore appreciates cleric support from Pokemon like Clefable and Blissey. Its low defense also leaves it susceptible to strong physical attackers such as? and therefore it appreciates physical walls such as Hippowdon Ehh pick something else like Amoonguss or Tangrowth, Hippo and Gastro compete from the same team slot too much for it to be a mention. or Buzzwole who can handle those threats. Gastrodon is also very weak to Pokemon who use Grass-type moves such as Serperior, Iron Moth and Nihilego should be noted that Nihil isn't common and has a lot of other issues going for it to be a good mention and therefore needs to be weary of coverage from Pokemon it is used to check. Backup check to special attackers secondary special walls like Blissey, Galarian Slowking or Jirachi Celesteela are therefore appreciated.

Gastrodon sets itself apart with its excellent Water/Ground Water / Ground (AS) typing in combination with Storm Drain. This unique set of traits allows it to flourish on defensive teams, (AC) where it is able to check a number of strong special attackers such as Mega Latias and Volcanion, (RC) while supporting the team with passive damage or entry hazards. (Entry hazards is redundant when you first talked about passive damage, because hazards are a form of passive damage. It would be like saying "My mom usually buys me fruits or apples." If you want to directly talk about entry hazards, don't use "passive damage." Instead, mention specifically what else Gastrodon brings to support its team.) The first moveslot is given to Spikes or Stealth Rock, which allows Gastrodon to support its teammates by wearing down the opposing team. If the team already has entry hazards covered, Clear Smog can be used to stop common setup sweepers such as Victini and Clefable that would otherwise greatly threaten Gastrodon and its teammates. Scald is used to cripple both physical attackers and poison-immune (AH) Pokemon with a burn. Earthquake is an alternative for more immediate pressure against Poison- and Steel-types such as Galarian Slowking and Iron Moth, but leaves Gastrodon unable to punish switch-ins like Celesteela and Skarmory. The final moveslot is usually given to Toxic, which allows it to slowly wear down its answers. Alternatively, Protect can be used in tandem with Leftovers to improve its longevity while also scouting common choice locked Choice item users (Either "Choice-locked Pokemon" or "Choice item users" are applicable here.) such as Latios, Meowscarada, and Enamorus. Its great special bulk and unique resistances allow it to help out Pokemon like Skarmory, Slowbro, and Tangrowth who that struggle against strong Fire- or Electric-type attacks from Pokemon like Volcanion, Sandy Shocks, and Zeraora. Gastrodon can get worn down quickly through poison and burn and therefore appreciates cleric support from Pokemon like Clefable and Blissey. Its low defense Defense also leaves it susceptible to strong physical attackers such as Mega-Tyranitar Mega Tyranitar and Meowscarada, (AC) and therefore, (AC) it appreciates physical walls such as Tangrowth or Buzzwole that who can handle those threats. Gastrodon is also very weak to Pokemon who that use Grass-type moves such as Serperior and Iron Moth and therefore needs to be weary of coverage from Pokemon it is used to check. (just saying "entry hazards" is also fine if that's what you wanted to highlight, but this is correct as well. best to apply meta knowledge to decide which is best - this isn't a gp call) The first moveslot is given to (clear smog is slashed too so this isnt true) Spikes or Stealth Rock, which allows Rock allow Gastrodon to support its teammates by wearing down the opposing team.
