Gastrodon sluggishly storms its way into RU, standing out as a top tier defensive Pokemon in the tier, able to check a variety of threats such as Krookodile and Mamoswine! Rocky Helmet alongside Sticky Hold allows Gastrodon to rack up consistent chip damage against physical attackers such as Bisharp and Galarian Zapdos, while ensuring it cannot be removed by the multiple Knock Off users in the tier. Ice Beam can hit Flying-types such as Noivern and Galarian Zapdos for super effective damage, while also hitting the Grass-types that might otherwise stomach its attacks such as Chesnaught and Wo-Chien. Tera Ghost not only gives Gastrodon a valuable Fighting immunity, allowing it to take on Pokemon such as Galarian Zapdos and Mienshao with much more ease, but also allow it to block Rapid Spin from Cyclizar, allowing Gastrodon to keep its Spikes on the field. Gastrodon primarily fits on balance teams, where its ability to reliably get up Spikes is heavily appreciated to help overwhelm both offensive and defensive structures. Knock Off users such as Krookodile and Galarian Zapdos can remove Heavy-Duty boots from their switchins, allowing Gastrodon's Spikes to have a larger impact during the game against common defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro and Wo-Chien.
