Hi I got really bored so I made a cute team. After seeing some friends on Skype ladder in RU with silly stuff like Choice Band Alomomola and some very skillful trees, I myself wanted to join in on the action by innovating the Ubers tier. This team managed to win 38 out of the 50 games it played on the ladder, so I hope this is factored into the 1630 stats.
Team at a glance:
In detail:
Greninja @ Focus Sash
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Taunt
- Toxic Spikes
- Waterfall
Greninja is actually a pretty cool lead in this metagame, due to its ability to set up hazards and Taunt all relevant Defog users before they have a chance to remove them. Shadow Sneak enables Greninja to spinblock in a pinch as well, in case your opponent brought a Kabutops of their own. It also handles lead Deo-A and can 2HKO 4 / 0 / 0 Deo-S some of the time. Waterfall ensures I can do chip damage to stuff in a pinch (such as Xerneas) while beating one of the two Magic Bouncers head to head. I only forced out one Mega Diancie with Waterfall, but the Toxic Spikes I got up as a result won me the game. Waterfall also had the additional niche of beating Heatran. I chose Toxic Spikes over Spikes because they are more crippling to Primal Groudon and Xerneas than regular Spikes are, and both are issues for this team. I also have a massive Toxic Spikes fetish, just like anyone who has ever played a game of DPP Ubers.
Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
Fossil #1. Mega Aerodactyl is a really cool Pokemon in this metagame, even though it fits onto approximately one serious team. The typing allows it to switch in on Ho-Oh (like everything else on this team barring Xerneas) and the Speed tier allows it to set Stealth Rock and Taunt opposing Defog users before they have a chance to remove them. Stone Edge allows Mega Aerodactyl to check Lugia, the flying Offend Weed, and other Pokemon; it doesn't hit that hard but does decent damage to most Pokemon that don't have a Rock resistance. Earthquake beats Heatran and chips away at Primal Groudon and Dialga nicely.
Aerodactyl is not nearly manly enough to play with Antacool and his Rampardos, but that irresistible goatee, coupled with Dice's Stamp of Approval, netted it a spot onto this team.
Kabutops @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Low Kick
- Waterfall
- Rapid Spin
- Stone Edge
I decided that I wanted a hazard remover so that my Focus Sash Pokemon and Arceus forme would not be hindered by Stealth Rock. Although Kabutops cannot beat any spinblocker without Knock Off (including those found in lower tiers barring Golurk), it can still sacrifice itself against slower Pokemon to get off a Rapid Spin. Kabutops can also use its typing to beat Lugia, Heatran, and Ho-Oh while revenging most Primal Kyogre with Stone Edge. This Pokemon would be sick if permanent rain were still a thing, alas...
Omastar @ Focus Sash
Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Shell Smash
- Earth Power
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
This thing is actually downright dangerous if you are not playing teams with 2-3 layers of random priority, which is sadly 80+% of the ladder. Omastar checks unboosted Mega Salamence even if Stealth Rock is out and Earth Power allows it to lure and destroy / cripple common Xerneas checks such as Aegislash and Primal Groudon. Hydro Pump is for Xerneas and Arceus formes, and hits hard at +2 (OHKOing standard Geomancy Xerneas at +2 after SR). Hydro Pump also utterly annihilates Heatran. Like certain players on the ladder, Omastar often drops its contacts so don't be mad if it misses a Hydro Pump at a crucial time.
Arceus @ Flame Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Overheat
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
I knew that the fossils could all be drowned out by Xerneas's terrifying rampage, and they also despise Ferrothorn. What better way to fix the issue than by adding a Swords Dance Fire Arceus? With Overheat to incinerate pesky Steel-types such as Klefki and that sexy Fire typing to prevent Will-O-Wisp from checking you, little can stop Fire Arceus's rampage apart from any decently bulky Pokemon with strong attacks or a phazing move. Earthquake slams Heatran and less importantly Primal Groudon. Credit to Shrang for innovating this set in BW; just avoid Giratina-O and you'll never want to use another SD Arceus forme again.
warning: this is the worst pokemon on the entire team
Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 176 HP / 252 SpA / 80 Spe
Modest Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
The final slot was dedicated to a status spreader that could slow the opponent down for my powerful wallbreakers. Geomancy Xerneas gets Thunder Wave, and since both Xerneas and Thunder Wave are highly effective in this metagame, combining the two provides some truly next level shit. Thunder Wave is used to offend Klefki right back while also crippling fast Lugia variants so Kabutops can destroy it. Focus Blast provides a method for Xerneas to beat Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Steel Arceus. Finally, Moonblast is used to murder and steal.
Checks and Counters: Thunder Wave Primal Groudon, Mega Sableye, Electric types, sample team if Greninja cannot 2HKO it.
Importable:
