Gen 3 bug

My medichan has a salac berry, shouldn't he be eating it at the end of turn 5?
Does the berry check happen before the status damage and am I just dumb?

In Gen 3, berry activation occurs before burn damage. So the berry would only activate at the end of turn 6.
