Gen 5 OU Sun team

Hello Smogon! This is the first team I build and post my team so please be gentle.. :)

Here's my team :

[pimg]38[/pimg]
victinir.png
[pimg]196[/pimg][pimg]428[/pimg][pimg]149[/pimg][pimg]237[/pimg]

First pick : [pimg]38[/pimg]
Sun weather inducer / support
Ninetales @ Leftovers
Ability : Drought
Nature : Timid (+Spd/-Att)
EVs : 252 HP, 136 SDef, 120 Spd

Moveset

1-Flamethrower
2-Toxic
3-Protect
4-Safeguard

Reason of this Pokemon and it's moveset :

I have a sun team so Ninetales is an obligatory pokemon in my team. If my opponent doesn't run a weather inducer, I will most likely lead with Ninetales to set the sun. I picked Flamethrower as my only attacking move because it's accurate and it's STAB. I use Toxic over Will-o-Wisp because I tend to have horrible luck and. protect is there to scout my opponent moves while it can be use to stall my opponent. Safeguard is mainly a support move that will help my sweepers not get crippled.

Second pick :
victinir.png

Main fire type sweeper
Victini @ Life orb
Ability : Victory Star
Nature : Brave (+Att/-Spd)
EVs : 252 HP, 252 Att, 4Def
IVs : 0 Spd

Moveset

1-V-Create
2-Fusion Bolt
3-Brick Break
4-Trick Room

Reason of this Pokemon and it's moveset :

I just love this little guy and thanks to a build I've seen from a good player on youtube, I've been having good times with Victini. Of course, I use it's signature move : V-Create. Under the sun, this move almost 1HKO everything. While, it does reduce both defenses and speed, I usually send this guy when I have a good opportunity to send Victini (if my opponent sends a Ferrothorn in exemple). I run this Victini with no IV in speed and brave nature because it carries Trick Room which is amazing. I also run Fusion Bolt for pokemons like Gyrados or Politoed and Brick Break for pokemons like Tyranitar.

Third pick : [pimg]196[/pimg]
Dual screen support
Espeon @ Light Clay
Ability : Magic Bounce
Nature : Timid (+Spd/-Att)
EVs : 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 Spd

Moveset

1-Reflect
2-Light Screen
3-Morning Sun
4-Psyshock

Reason of this Pokemon and it's moveset :

Espeon is cool pokemon with an abusing ability : Magic Bounce. Since my team does not carry entry hazards and my predictions are correct I can bounce nasty stuff away from my team such as Stealth Rock, Spikes and Toxic Spikes! Espeon's main purpose is set Reflect and Light Screen to cover my sweepers (Victini mainly) and carry the Morning Sun which appeciates the boost from Drought. Psyshock is my only offensive move because it's STAB and uses my opponent defense over his special defense.

Fourth pick : [pimg]428[/pimg]
Special defense wall / rain abusers wall
Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability : Storm Drain
Nature : Sassy (+Sdef/-Spd)
EVs : 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 SDef

Moveset

1-Ice Beam
2-Earthquake
3-Toxic
4-Recover

Reason of this Pokemon and it's moveset :

No big suprise to me I've come to pick Gastrodon. One of my major threat is Politoed and Gastrodon usually walls rain teams well. Recover's here for sustenance while i can cripple my opponent with Toxic. It, of course, carries Ice Beam for dragons (Latios, Salamence and Dragonite are prime exemples) and Earthquake is a good STAB move. Gastrodon may also end up abusing of my Victini's Trick Room for carrying the Sassy nature!

Fifth pick : [pimg]149[/pimg]
Bulky Dragon user
Dragonite @ Leftovers
Ability : Multiscale
Nature : Lonely (+Att/-Def)
EVs : 4 HP, 252 Att, 252 Spd

Moveset

1-Draco Meteor
2-Brick Break
3-Fire Punch
4-Roost

Reason of this Pokemon and it's moveset :

Dragonite is such an enigma for your opponent. Having so many possible builds, I usually don't know what to expect when I see one so I've been thinkin I could confuse my opponent if I custom one. My Dragonite is a mix set carrying Brick Break, Fire Punch and Draco Meteor and I've been thinking Dragonite usually attracts Ice Beam more than Stone Edge which is the main reason it's Lonely and not Naughty. Fire Punch is there obviously because I have a sun team while Draco Meteor is there to suprise defense walls. Brick Break is there for couple major reasons. First, this move breaks screens. Second, it's a great move that suprises my opponent when I face threats like Heatran and Tyranitar. Roost is there for sustenance.

First pick : [pimg]237[/pimg]
Spinner and weakness counter
Hitmontop @ Leftovers
Ability : Intimidate
Nature : Impish (+Def/-Satt)
EVs : 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SDef

Moveset

1-Rapid Spin
2-Close Combat
3-Stone Edge
4-Toxic

Reason of this Pokemon and it's moveset :

I do acknowledge Conkeldurr is far superior to Hitmontop strenght-wise. However, I have 2 main reasons to pick Hitmontop over Conkeldurr. First, Hitmontop is the only Fighting type (minus Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan) that carries Rapid Spin. Stealth Rock cripples half my team and if my opponent ends up setting his rocks or KO my Espeon I can't have that take quarter of health of Victini, Dragonite and Ninetales. Second, I need a bulky pokemon with a decent attack stat to take down Dark type threats since Espeon and Victini share a weakness to Dark. No question there, I have Rapid Spin, Close Combat. Stone Edge may be usefull for Flying threats while it's always good to carry Toxic.

My team in general :

I think I've balanced my unbalanced team. I do know that my team is weak to Stealth Rock and I attracts pursuit abusers. But I do beleive that I have the support to run Victini as my main sweeper. Once Sun is set for good and both screens are up and my opponent gives me the opportunity to send my Victini, it's usually good game for him. I appreciate good criticism and if anyone beleives they have an idea to improve this team, I welcome him or her to leave a post :)

I do actually have a narrated video about my team in action. It's not the closest match but it gives a pretty good idea how I try to run this team.

I messed the pictures... I'll fix that. Sorry :(

I think you need a clorophyll sweeper, like shiftry or venusaur. i suggest you to run max speed on victini with a jolly/adamant nature, 100 base speed is not good in a trick room. 4 evs in dragonite should be run in sp atk for draco meteor. a possible moveset for shiftry and venusaur can be this:
venusaur @life orb
modest nature
ability clorophyll (DW)
252spA 252 spe 4 hp
-growth
-solar beam
-sludge bomb
-sleep powder/syntesis/hp fire
growth is for boost a mediocre special attack of venusaur, solar beam and sludge bomb are two great stab attacks, the last slot is your choise: sleep powder to boost spA with growht while the opponent's sleeping. syntesis to recover healt expecially in the sun and hp fire is for pokes like ferrothorn, scizor and co that resists both solar beam and sludge bomb.

shiftry @life orb
lonely nature
ability clorophyll
164 spe 92 atk 252 spA (not pretty sure about ev spread)
-nasty plot
-solar beam
-sucker punch
-low kick/hp fire
after a nasty plot shiftry gets a stellar spA with a powerful solar beam. sucker punch is for priority. like venusaur the last slot is your choise: low kick is for coverage, while hp fire is for the same reason of venusaur: scizor, ferrothorn and co.

Sheer Force Darmanitan would be a great alternative to Victini, since it doesn't have that nasty Dark type weakness and it has higher attack. Here's a set that I used on mine:

Darmanitan @ Life Orb
Nature: Adamant
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Speed

Trait: Sheer Force

Rock Slide
Earthquake
Flare Blitz
Superpower

With this set, you can still cause massive damage under the sun and out of it, plus put the hurt on switch ins like Tyranitar and Heatran

I've been thinking about a Clorophyll abuser. While it's great, it's also easy to counter with Tyranitar or Politoed. Right now the OU meta is mainly ruled by sanstorm and rain teams.

I didn't think about Darmanitan! I guess I didn't think about him because I really wanted this Victini in my team but he's a good alternative :)
