gen 5 RU take one

Ok so i basically retired because the gen 5 OU and UU metagames were so unstable and to me just not fun. i didnt even log on in at least 7 months but i came back just cuz i was bored and wanted to play gen 4 again a little. this is the first team ive made in that long and its somehow been succcessful. still there are a lot of things left to be desired and i need a little bit of help in some spots.

i really just scrapped this team together when i stared at the RU/NU tier list and picked out what i liked and what looked like it worked together. luxray was originally manectric but i chose guts luxray in order to deal with sableye. and thats the team building process i went through lol now here they are

Braviary @ choice scarf
Keen eye
252 Atk/4 SpDef/252 Spd
Adamant

-Brave Bird
-Return
-U-turn
-Superpower

Braviary is just my scarfer of choice. brave bird spam works pretty well in the low tiers because not too many steels are around that ive seen. even so superpower is still a good move for like rock types and ice types that itll ohko. u-turns good for scouting and return hardly ever gets used. i generally use braviary as my lead to scout and u-turn to an appropriate counter.

Claydol @ choice scarf
Levitate
240 HP/172 Def/96 SpDef
Bold

-Trick
-Rapid Spin
-Stealth Rock
-Earth Power

claydol does his job pretty nicely. he can cripple something coming in with trick. keep hazards off my side and set them up on my opponents. earth power is just standard stab move. it's possible to turn this into a mesprit who does the same job other than rapin spin but i think claydol fits better. i tried both specs and band to trick but somehow i just kept giving it to the pokemon that could use it so i gave that up and just went with scarf.

Slowking @ leftovers
Regenerator
212 HP/44 Def/252 SpDef
Calm

-Toxic
-Slack off
-Scald
-Ice beam

both scald and toxic have served their purposes on this set. its specially defensive so that if scald burns it effectively becomes be a mixed wall. slowking adds a lot of resistances needed on the team. slowking as a whole could be replaced by something else thats very good at toxic stalling that provides similar resistances. if anyone has any suggestions im willing to hear them

Luxray @ flame orb
Guts
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant

-Wild Charge
-Crunch
-Facade
-Thunderwave

luxray was originally manectric. and i didnt replace manectric because he did poorly but because my team needed to do something about sableye that were everywhere. i looked at all flash fire or guts users available and none seemed to fit the team. its a shame luxray loses superpower, ice fang, and sleep talk with his dream world ability but i just decided to try him out and see how it went. he's been ok but if anyone can suggest a good sableye counter that fits this team ill gladly try it out.

Aggron @ leftovers
Rock Head
160 HP/252 Atk/12 SpDef/84 Spd
Adamant

-Substitute
-Head Smash
-Focus Punch
-Aqua Tail

one of my all time favorite sets. aggron can force so many switchs and makes choice scarf users really pay. even neutral physical stab attacks barely scratch him. rock/fighting is a very well known coverage combo and both of these two being the strongest of their type, it really deals a lot of damage. Aqual nails the only 2 semi-common things that resist the combo, claydol and golurk, for a lot of damage. also it can kill steelix at low health without sacrificing a substitute to focus punch. aqua tail used to be magnet rise but claydol can break subs anyway with psychic and its better to deal heavy damage with aqua tail then switch to something else. aggron probably wont change at all.

Sceptile @ leftovers
Overgrow
160 HP/96 Def/252 Spd
Timid

-Leech Seed
-Substitute
-Protect
-Hidden Power [fire]

wow did i not expect this to do so goddamn well. not even just saying this but so many people have quit on me because they wouldve gotten swept by leech seed stall. the prevalence of sceptiles attacking set with unburden and the power of the possible leaf storm forces a lot of switches and once sceptile gets a sub up, its very hard to stop him. the evs are for maximum bulk while keeping his max speed stat. maybe some speed can be taken off to outspeed like 110s or 115s but im not too familiar with the speed tiers in RU yet so i just stuck with max. hidden power fire is obviously for any grasses that are immune to leech seed. protect could possibly be replaced by another coverage move because he's so effective at just spamming fast subs that i rarely get to the point i need to use protect. so far this sceptile set has been perfect and probably wont change other than any EV suggestions.

Sableye has been banned from RU for over a week, there is no need to mention him really at all. Feel free to replace Luxray at your will. I also noticed your team is pretty weak to Sharpedo and Accelgor. Both Mixed and Physical Sharpedo seriously dent your team and Accelgor can outspeed your Braviary and KO with an HP Rock, OHKO Aggron with Focus Blast, OHKO Sceptile with Bug Buzz, and denting Claydol and Slowking(as well as having being able to freely switch into your Tricks if it gets scouted and have you lose a turn because of its Sticky Hold ability.),

As EnragedBeast already mentioned, Sableye has been removed from RU a bit ago, and Luxray does seem somewhat excessive on your team :/ Also, SD Acrobling Sceptile would have a field day on your team, as all your team save Braviary (who isn't exactly know for it's bulk) is either 1 or 2HKOed by all hit common attacking options, and will undoubtedly sweep your team after enough residual damage has been dealt out. As a suggestion, Rotom-S completely shuts down Sceptile, helps you beat Honchkrow and allows you to cope with your Accelgor problem all in one shot. You still have that issue with Sharpedo, so keeping your Sceptile healthy is a must. Hope I was of some assistance.
