[Gen 5] Team Dead Hault!

Should I Replace Scizor?

I based this team around a late-game (or earlier, heh...) Terakion sweep. Terakion might just be this gen's best setup sweeper. His teammates were chosen to best support Terakion, and each other. Without further ado, here's my team!

- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Bronzong was chosen as a reliable and bulky lead, due to its ability to supply much-needed support in Stealth Rock and Reflect, as well as its decent attacking capabilities and much appreciated resistences to the team. Gyro Ball is a VERY POWERFUL STAB base 150 Steel-type attack, capable of dealing heavy damage to anything that doesn't resist it. Earthquake allows me to deal with such threats as Heatran and Blaziken, who would otherwise severly harm Bronzong.

Sazandora is a very powerful and efficient revenge killer, capable of 0HKOing much of the metagame with an awesome Draco Meteor. His amazing type coverage allows to deal with many things that threaten the rest of the team, such as Heatran, Nattorei, Birijion, Breelom to an extent, and much more. He is also very bulky, and capable of taking Water attacks aimed at Terakion, Fire attacks aimed at Bronzong at Scizor, and Grass attacks aimed at Burungeru and Terakion, as well as Ghost and Dark attacks aimed at Burungeru. Surf for solid coverage, U-turn for scouting purposes (Should I replace it with Dark Pulse?), Draco Meteor for STAB, and Fire Blast for solid coverage.

Long ago, I placed Zapdos on a team of mine. He's always been on teams I've made since. His amazing typing provides a Ground immunity, a Fighting resist, a Bug resist... the list goes on. He's very good at taking Burungeru and Terakion's weaknesses, as well as Sazandora's weaknesses. I couldn't imagine a team without Zapdos. Zapdos also serves as my team's dedicated physical wall, with his Ice weakness covered by his walling partner, Burungeru. Roost for fantastic recovery, Thunderbolt for solid STAB, Thunder Wave to slow down anything trying to boost its speed on Zapdos, and Hidden Power [Ice] to help with those pesky Ground types.

- Toxic
- Recover
- Boil Over
- Shadow Ball

Do I really have to explain this guy? Burungeru is one of the best special walls in today's metagame. His typing provides him with an insane amount of resistences, as well as the ability to switch into the majority of the metagame with ease. I choose Toxic as a solid status move, forcing anything that's trying to stall me to think twice. Recover is 50% in a single turn, and is very reliable. Boil Over is a Godsend for Water-types, allowing them to have yet another thing Fire types had over them: a chance to burn something. Shadow Ball is mainly for opposing Burungeru, although they could be easily stalled with Toxic.

This. THIS is the definition of POWER CREEP! With 129 base attack, VERY solid defenses, and blistering speed, Terakion is a beast once theorized to exist, now manifested in the form of a rare Rock type actually uses its Rock typing to its advantage. After a Swords Dance, Terakion can proceed to KO the majority of the metagame. Rock Polish is usually prefered, to help deal with faster teams. Stone Edge is one of the best attacking moves in the game, and in 4th gen finally gave Rock types the high powered move they dreamed for. Close Combat is SEXY!

I honestly don't know what to say for this guy... he's a filler. I have NO CLUE what to put IN THIS SPOT! What should I replace him with? I generally don't like having 2 setup sweepers on the team, as I feel it weakens the overall effect of the other setup sweeper... so I'll let you guys vote. Should I replace him? If so, with what?

There you have it, Team Dead Hault. All of these Pokemon are at least bulky, and each do greatly to help each other... bar Scizor.

i just have a few tweaks that i want to suggest to make this team better:

on sazandora you should replace u-turn with dark pulse or dragon pulse. I would probably go with dragon pulse for late game sweeping because dark pulse doesn't provide all that great coverage and is 10 base power lower than dragon pulse.

I think that a scizor fits well with your team. If you want to stick with a swords dance set use this though:
scizor@Lum berry/LO/leftovers
252hp/252atk/4spe
-swords dance
-bullet punch
-bug bite
-roost
I would pick lum berry over the other items just because burungeru is so common now that you can get a free swords dance off the will-o-wisp. You can also get a free swords dance off a breloom trying to spore you and proceed to KO it with bullet punch.
Now, if you don't want another set-up sweeper try a choice band scizor to clean up terakions sweep and take out opposing SD terakion since your team is swept by them.
scizor@choice band
248hp/252atk/8spe
-bullet punch
-u-turn
-superpower
-pursuit
this set could really help your team out. Bullet punch to revenge kill, u-turn to scout and beat psychic types likes rankurusu (OHKO). superpower for steel types and pursuit to catch mons like latios who are locked into a resisted move who try and switch out.

Solid team good luck!

Hello, I am going to gear my rate towards the Dreamworld Tier because you mention Bronzong as your lead and your Zapdos has the Lightningrod ability.

Firstly, I really suggest you keep Scizor but use a more defensive set-up. Scizor is really key to your team in my opinion as it lets you beat common threats that are definitely hard for your team to take on. For example, without Scizor you will be destroyed by any form of Rankurusu and it is imperative to the teams survival that you keep Scizor in tact to take on Rankurusu. You also have a pretty big weakness to opposing Terakion and Scizor can let you revenge them, and although it will not OHKO it will severly weaken it, or KO after it has used Close Combat. Here is the set:

Scizor @ Leftovers
Adamant | Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Atk / 200 SpDef
Swords Dance / Bug Bite / Bullet Punch / Roost

Regarding the rest of your team, I think you should try Zen Headbutt over Reflect on Bronzong. Currently your team is kind of destroyed by Birijion and Zen Headbutt will comfortably 2HKO it. Zen Headbutt's usage does not end there, it lets you do substantial damage to Breloom and Roopushin.

Taunt is something to consider on Burungeru as it stops you from being set-up bait against Nattorei and can be used to break down opposing stall teams as well.

I would probably use Jolly on Terakion just for the emergency speed tie against opposing Terakion, Birijion and Infernape.

Not much else to say, good luck!

I don't understand why people need a separate post for the threat list. Why don't they just post it in with the rest of their post?

Anyways I wouldn't use both Rock Polish and Swords dance on Terakion. It is too hard to set up both of them so I would just choose one or the other. Go with Jolly if you choose Swords Dance.

I am sure you understand why to keep both, Shokwav, but I will explain anyway. With its dual-stabs, Terakion has almost perfect coverage and does not need a tertiary move. Having both Rock Polish and Swords Dance on the set gives you a couple of options against different teams. For example, if you are facing a stall team, where all its members are slower than Terakion you do not have to set up a Rock Polish. However against a heavy offensive rain team, you can decide to Rock Polish to sweep the fast, frail sweepers. You can also set up both in some circumstances.

Thanks for the rate. I'll change Scizor's spread and see how it works. I just might try Zen Headbutt on Bronzong; I think my team is might bulky enough to handle most attacks without any extra support, plus Psychic is a decent attacking type in this gen to handle Roobushin, Birijion, Terakion, Machamp, and the other common Fighting types.

@lamppost: Read my other reply, I'm trying out that set. Thanks...

It keeps things neat. Rock Polish is for faster teams, and Swords Dance breaks stall.
