SV OU Gen 9 OU Anti-Meta Team with Frosmoth Quiver Dance and Landorus-T

Hey guys, this is my first post on smogon where I want to introduce a new Anti-Meta gen9ou team to you!
I hope you enjoy this.

Firstly, I started my team building with a strong lead, which is not overused. This lead should counter Glimmora and Samurott-Hisui, so that I have decided to use Hatterne as a Pokemon, which is able to one shot both if not using Focus Sash.

858-0.png

Hatterene @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 84 HP / 32 Def / 252 SpA / 140 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Mystical Fire
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Thunder Wave

With her the tactic of the team begins to start!
Some offensive calcs:

252 SpA Hatterene Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Glimmora: 362-428 (117.9 - 139.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Hatterene Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Samurott-Hisui: 384-452 (119.6 - 140.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 84 SpD Gholdengo: 168-198 (53.3 - 62.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

If the oppenent use a focus sash, you are able to switch in an other Pokemon in the team, which uses Rocky Helmet to finish leads like Glimmora or Samurott-Hisui.
Otherwise, if the oppenent leads with Torkoal, he will switch because he can not set Stealth Rock, so that Hatterne is able to do damage or use Thunder Wave to win momentum! Thunder Wave is also essential against Pelipper, Walking Wake and other Flying Pokemon.
Also, you can press Mystical Fire against Corviknight and Gholdengo!

462-0.png

Magnezone @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Magnet Pull
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 232 HP / 144 Def / 76 SpA / 28 SpD / 28 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Body Press
- Thunderbolt
- Iron Defense
- Volt Switch

The second underused Pokemon is Magnezone which I picked because of his Bulk and Volt Switch. He has got the defensive role which is able to win an 1vs1 against Dondozo, Zapdos and Maushold. I use Tera Fairy cause of Walking Wake!
Some calcs:

76 SpA Magnezone Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 220 SpD Toxapex: 164-194 (53.9 - 63.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 Atk Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 232 HP / 144+ Def Tera Fairy Magnezone: 117-138 (34.5 - 40.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. 232 HP / 144+ Def Tera Fairy Magnezone: 115-136 (33.9 - 40.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Gholdengo Shadow Ball vs. 232 HP / 28 SpD Magnezone: 141-166 (41.5 - 48.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

The third Pokemon is Slowking which checks the obvious threats like Great Tusk, Ursaluna and Heatran and etc.!

199-0.png

Slowking @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 216 HP / 52 Def / 240 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Slack Off
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder Wave
- Chilly Reception

The idea of this set is to paralyse against big threats like Quiver Dance Volcarona or Walking Wake to win momentum and utility later on this game. Also, his function to switch out with Chilly Reception to start snow.

252 SpA Gholdengo Shadow Ball vs. 216 HP / 240+ SpD Slowking: 182-216 (47.2 - 56.1%) -- 19.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Slowking Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Great Tusk: 392-464 (90.3 - 106.9%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO.

So the next one is the win con of the mostly games, Frosmoth, which is able to sweep with Tera Water!

873-0.png

Frosmoth @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Shield Dust
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 76 HP / 36 Def / 96 SpA / 48 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Ice Beam
- Bug Buzz
- Aurora Veil

With Tera Water he is able to tank almost every move, so that you have got a free Quiver Dance.
Also he owns the move Aurora Viel, which can be pressed after switching out with Slowking after Chilly Reception. This is sometimes notable in the end game if your team has a better win con!

Some importable calcs:

+1 96 SpA Frosmoth Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Great Tusk: 632-746 (145.6 - 171.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 96 SpA Frosmoth Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zapdos: 416-492 (129.5 - 153.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 96 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Ice Beam vs. 12 HP / 0 SpD Walking Wake: 297-351 (86.8 - 102.6%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
+1 96 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Iron Valiant: 286-337 (98.9 - 116.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
+1 96 SpA Tera Water Frosmoth Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 102-121 (32.3 - 38.4%) -- 98.3% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Cinderace Pyro Ball vs. 76 HP / 36 Def Tera Water Frosmoth: 129-153 (43 - 51%) -- 3.1% chance to 2HKO

Ok, now I need an ground-type Pokemon and I chose Landorus-T!

645-1.png

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 48 HP / 188 Atk / 8 Def / 12 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Stone Edge

I want to be honest, in the current meta is the Choice Scarf set the best one for Lando! Which Scarf and full speed you are able to outspeed many Pokemon such as full speed modest Choice Scarf Gholdengo or Cinderace. Also, you want to outspeed other Choice Scarf Pokemon.

188+ Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 204-241 (70.5 - 83.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-1 252 Atk Iron Valiant Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 48 HP / 8 Def Landorus-Therian: 77-91 (23.2 - 27.4%) -- 69% chance to 4HKO
-1 4 Atk Great Tusk Ice Spinner vs. 48 HP / 8 Def Landorus-Therian: 212-252 (64 - 76.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

(-1 cause of Intimidate )

The last Pokemon is a physical breaker, which I obviously needed. The best one in UU was Zapdos-Galar which his Close Combat and U-Turn.
145-1.png

Zapdos-Galar @ Choice Band
Ability: Defiant
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Brave Bird
- Tera Blast
- U-turn

Here I need the Tera type ground with Tera Blast to have couverage against electric Pokemon such as Magnezone or Iron Hands. Choice Band is notable to kill lots of Pokemon like Great Tusk, Iron Valiant or Gholdengo!

252 Atk Choice Band Tera Ground Zapdos-Galar Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 140 Def Great Tusk: 408-480 (94 - 110.5%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Tera Ground Zapdos-Galar Tera Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gholdengo: 398-470 (126.3 - 149.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Tera Ground Zapdos-Galar Close Combat vs. 12 HP / 0 Def Walking Wake: 309-364 (90.3 - 106.4%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Tera Ground Zapdos-Galar Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 363-427 (95.5 - 112.3%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Tera Ground Zapdos-Galar Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kleavor: 298-352 (106 - 125.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Here is the final pokepaste: Antimeta Gen 9 OU (pokepast.es)

However, this team is able to work, if you play well, so I prepared some replays. I hope you enjoyed my first post here on smogon!

Interesting team, I'll be making some Changes which will hopefully improve your team.

Big Changes:

Swap your :Hatterene: set for the calm mind set. The set you are running doesn't really counter the "meta" as things like :Glimmora: can just switch out if they see Hatterene or just attack with moves like Sludge Wave. Same thing as :samurott-hisui:. Its signature attack ignores Hatterene's ability, so it gets up spikes and because you are running Dazzling Gleam, you will still come out damaged. The Cm set is much better as it serves as a wincon + greater utility. Here's a quick rundown of the set. Calm Mind is for setting up, Draining Kiss is for recovery to counter lead things like Samurott as it heals all the damage back from one Ceaseless Edge. Psyshock is you psychic type stab but hits on the Physdef side so you can crush things like :clodsire: and :Blissey:. The last moveslot can be Mystical Fire or Nuzzle. I would say choose Nuzzle as it provides more general support and can cripple things that think they are safe on switching in. (Nuzzle is like T-Wave but its 100% accurate and is an attacking move so taunt doesn't work on it as well as Magic Bounce.) Mystical Fire is for hitting steels, but once you are all setup with Hatterene, you can just brute force it.

Hatterene @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Psyshock
- Nuzzle

Swap :frosmoth: for :baxcalibur:. With our new Hatterene set serving as our spa setup sweeper, there is now too much overlap with Frosmoth. Baxcalibur hits in the phys side and also abuses the snow thanks to the defence boost that ice types get. I would say run a Dragon Dance set with boots as this team has no hazard removal. Baxcaliburjust gives so much more firepower and support as a wisp-switchin. This set has no Priority as you should be able to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame. If you feel like you are needing Priority in Ice Shard, swap Earthquake for Ice Shard.

Baxcalibur @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Thermal Exchange
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Glaive Rush
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake

Swap :slowking: for :slowking-galar:. Better defensive typing for the meta, in exchange for a ground weakness. This doesn't matter much as things like :landorus-Therian: and :zapdos-galar: switch-in well on this team. I would say run a pivot set because it gives you weather control and also supports things like :Baxcalibur: with Chilly Reception. It still offers support with T-Wave and offers even more with Future Sight. Just a better wall for your team.

Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Def / 216 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Chilly Reception
- Future Sight
- Sludge Bomb
- Thunder Wave

Small Changes/Notes:

Swap Tera Blast on :zapdos-galar: for Stomping Tantrum. Its a slightly weaker move (-5bp) but you don't need to commit tera to use a ground move which your team likes as tera being freed up can let your other mon beat its checks/get it out of a tricky spot.

Swap Tera on Zapdos for Fighting. It gives much more power to Close Combat and also keeps the stealth rocks resistance.

I notice that your evs spreads are really out there. I'm sure that its to survive certain attacks, but I think that when running anti-meta, you need to check so many things that those evs ended up being wasted as you might be chipped down through a match. I say just focus the evs into a certain trait (eg :Landorus-Therian: should be max attack and speed on a scarf set) so you have a more consistent/general set that is not wasting any evs.

Thats all! Hope this helps. Go get em! :boi:

Thanks, this will help me a lot:D

Calm Mind Hatterne is extremely interesting because I have never considered the Sp. Def. Boost, so that she is able to resist a Shadow Ball from Gholdengo or Dragapult.

252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Shadow Ball vs. +1 84 HP / 140 SpD Hatterene: 186-222 (67.3 - 80.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Gholdengo Make It Rain vs. +1 84 HP / 140 SpD Hatterene: 228-270 (82.6 - 97.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

And wow, Hatterne is capable of learning Nuzzle??? Of course I will try your set!:D

Going on so with your advices, Dragon Dance Baxcalibur is definitlely the better setup sweeper but I wanted to play something which almost nobody is playing. Otherwise, Baxcalibur has got a great bulk so that I am able to tank more, so that this Pokemon fits better in my team.

Finally, I want to take Slowking-Galar into consideration for an additional ground immunity.
Nevertheless, my team should be Anti-meta team, so that playing Slowking with Thunder Wave and Slack Off provides me the opportunity after paralyzing to spam Slack Off with the ulterior motive to hope for full para if the opponent makes around 50% damage. If the full para hits, I will win a free turn to switch out for example.
Also, I am able to press Hydro Pump against Great Tusk or Kingambit!

Best wishes,

German.nn
