I am currently 7/12 with my predictions, so I am eager to see if I manage to hit the infamous 0/2 for this round.
Semifinals predictions!

Career Ended (1) vs. lichess (13) > I have been saying for two weeks that Career Ended will inevitably fall for the curse of the perfect swiss, but so far he has been able to survive. Lichess is probably the biggest surprise of this tournament and just like for CE, I bet against him last week. I'll go with the american for a bunch of reasons: 1) Most tournaments have a final where an accomplished player and a surprise face off, and lichess fits the second category 2) I still think CE is getting struck by the curse at one point 3) Betting against CE is a win-win situation: if he loses, I win the bet; if he wins, this tournament could have a final between the first two seeds, which is dope and it would help our propaganda to show that random battles require more skill than casuals think :p

LoSconosciuto (2) vs. FreyaknightVGC (14) > Against Justin, I thought it was too early for Freya to win against an opponent that is really good and more accustomed to gen 9 singles overall. However, he surprised me by playing very very solid against him and against Munchy as well. He has improved so much in little time and he has showed to be able to raise his level to the occasion. He is experiencing this as one of the biggest battles of his career, he is pumped and motivated to shock the randbats world once again. Therefore... Losco in 4

Well, this is the end of my swiss adventure. First of all, ggs to LoSconosciuto! I really wanted to challenge you on a tournament setting so i'm fine with the result, as long as you win the final!!

I'm pretty new in the rands community so this was my first competitive rands singles event. I consider myself mainly a doubles player, but i've played singles random for a long time for fun and got pretty attached to it over time. That's why i tried my best in every single game, but reaching this point was honestly impossible to predict and it's the culmination of an INCREDIBLE experience!
I got to challenge in really fun and hard games lot of friends in these months, like Emkatt , Sylveesnom , my goat Jack_Toge and the goat of goats goating(?) JustOut459 .
I also had the opportunity to know a bunch of new people, like Munchy_Axolotls AquaGuy2.0 and many others. Thank you all for the fun sets and good luck with the rest of the circuit!

All my gratitude to Flights of Fantsy, pokeblade101 and Star Wheel who helped me training with some bo5 for this topcut! You guys are the finest example of why i love the rands community, a community with a lot of people willing to help and have fun together! I feel like i still have long ways to go to reach the level of you guys or Losco, expecially in singles, so this is just the start.
Special thanks to my italian (and not!) friends who supported me through my games, it was so exciting to play with such a crowd everytime:blobnom:. Even 35Q71N who tried to jinx all my way through the tournament...but i know it was in good faith, his dark power is too strong for his will.

Last but not least, huge shoutout to the hosts who kept the tour going smoothly!

I am sorry but he is the only italian I jinxed today :psycry:

Anyway, insane run for you in your first open of the circuit. You are making impressive progress ever since I first battled you in ac and most importantly, we are lucky to have you in the community :p
Good luck in your next tournaments, I hope to jinx you once again in their final phases :]]]

At long last, we have the finals of the inaugural Gen 9 Random Battles Swiss! Will Losco bring it home for the Italians? Will lichess's engine-like precision lead them to victory? There is only one way to find out!
Congrats to both finalists, but there can only be one champion! Good luck and have fun!

9/14 in predictions is not bad at all so let's see if I can hit a success rate of 66%! It's finals time!

(2) LoSconosciuto
vs (13) lichess > lichess told me to bet on him but he probably doesn't know I tend to jinx people. Either way, there is no risk for me to do so with Losco because he is usually the one that ends up jinxing himself. Jokes aside, this is a pretty cool battle with the classic theme of "surprise of the tournament vs established player". Lichess faced VERY good players to reach this stage but he needs to up his plays once more if he wants to have a chance against Losco. I think the italian is still the better player and if he manages to lock in, and maybe if he scouts his opponent a bit, he should probably win it all. This is why I am betting on him to win it all in a series that I hope will be a fitting and exciting ending to this tournament :D

Smh you just want Italian bias

ggs to Losco! I'm definitely sad that I couldn't take it all home in grands, but I'm glad I was able to put on a good showing for my first tournament. This was a very fun experience, and I had the chance to meet many awesome people through my matches.

Thank you to the hosts and my opponents for being understanding of the medical challenges I faced during this tournament and accommodating me with extensions. I really appreciate it! :tyke:

Special shoutouts to all of my friends (IRL, USPA teammates, and DoorCord folks) who supported me every week by watching my matches online and encouraging me whenever I saw them in person. You guys are the best, and having you all cheer me on every single week was by far the best part of this whole tournament ❤️

In any case, I'll continue to do my best in this year's randoms circuit and in future tournaments to come, so hopefully this won't be the last you see of me! :woop:
