Gen IV OU

Hi there, I'm new here at Smogon, so this is my first RMT... Sorry for my
bad english as it's not my main language. So... here is my team.:naughty:
Note that this is for Wi-fi battles.

Team at a glance:

Swampert
260.png

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 248 HP, 212 Def, 48 SpD
Moves:
-Stealth Rock
-Roar
-Ice Beam
-Earthquake

This is my lead; I really like him because he's so bulky that you almost
always have a safe SR set-up. Roar is for scouting, Ice Beam for dragons
and grass switch-ins, EQ for STAB, which does some respectable damage if
not resisted. I think the mudfish fits well in the team, especially with Jirachi
because their types cover their weaknesses. Swampert also provides a
much needed electric immunity, since my gyarados have a 4x weakness =(
He's also a nice Hippowdon counter... those hippos may cause me
a lot of trouble =)

Gyarados
130.png

Item: Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Moves:
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge

Gyarados is my first sweeper. I chose this guy because he loves Stealth
Rocks up, and for this reason he pairs well with the mud fish. Also, as
mentioned before, Swampert covers Gyara's weaknesses. This is a typical
offensive Dragon Dance set: Waterfall is for STAB, EQ and SE for coverage.
The DD set-up is also made easier because of jirachi's set, with dual screen
support.

Gliscor
477.png

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 HP, 40 Def, 216 Spe
Moves:
-Taunt
-Earthquake
-Roost
-Toxic

This Gliscor is in my team for stall-breaking, thanks to his fast Taunt. He's
also a good Lucario counter and a great Gyarados' team mate. EQ is his
only attack; Roost is there to heal damage, while Toxic cripples bulky
waters on the switch-in.

Mesprit
486.png

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP, 180 Def, 76 SpD
Moves:
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Psychic
-Thunder Wave

I love this guy! He is bulky, and the EV spread gives him an incredible ability
to take hard hits really well. For example, Metagross (without any
attack-enhancing item) would deal max. 44,5% damage! So, with his bulk
and his great coverage Mesprit can deal with powerful sweepers,
cleaning the way for my Gyara and Luke's sweep. Thunder Wave cripples
fast sweepers, since I don't have any really fast pokemon. He also
pairs greatly with Jirachi, as Mesprit doesn't have any healing move, so a
Wish-passer fixes that.

Jirachi
385.png

Item: Light Clay
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP, 100 Def, 156 SpD
Moves:
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Wish
-U-Turn

Jirachi is probably the glue of my team. I wanted someone who could pass
wishes, set screens and be bulky. So I decided to run a defensive,
unpredictable Jirachi. He puts up screens, which helps Gyara and Luke in
their set-up; Wish is useful to heal Mesprit and Swampert, or whoever
needs it. U-Turn scouts the opposing team.

Lucario
453.png

Item: Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Moves:
-Swords Dance
-Close Combat
-ExtremeSpeed
-Stone Edge

The ultimate Street Fighter! With Jirachi's support, this guy is pretty hard
to counter, and once SD is used, this thing can sweep hard through teams.
Obviously, SD, CC and ES are a must on this set. I chose Stone Edge in the
last slot to deal with Zapdos, Gyarados, Dragonite, and so on. He can also
KO physical walls like Skarmory and Forretress.

So... this is my team :happybrain: [sorry but I couldn't resist putting that face in
my thread :happybrain:] please comment and make suggestions!! :happybrain:

Mesprit and Jirachi have somewhat similar roles, I think it would be a bit more efficient to combine them and free some space up. I would try a Lunar Dance Cresselia over the two of them. You can set up screens, attempt a sweep, then heal someone back to full with Lunar Dance. You can also pack ice beam in the last slot to deal with dragons. If something like Tyranitar tries to crunch you, you can take the hit, bring in Luke, then return later to lunar dance. For the extra space, you can try a sweeper like Agiligross, who has similar counters as Luke. Agiligross as also really bulky and offers the same typing as Jirachi.

From personal experience, I tend to favor Protect over Roar on Swampert. I run literally the same Swampert on another team except for that one change. Protect gives you a chance to scout out specific moves as well as pick up a little Leftovers recovery. However, if in your own experience you find Roar to be useful, keep it. This isn't that important.

I would follow Eggbert's suggestion if I were you, but I might add in a Rapid Spinner as opposed to something like Agiligross. Gyarados really loves a Rapid Spinner as Stealth Rocks can really screw it over--especially when you're already looking at Life Orb recoil. I would probably avoid Starmie as your Rapid Spinner and instead try something like:

Forretress @ Leftovers
Relaxed
252 HP / 112 Atk / 144 Def (0 Spe IVs)
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Gyro Ball
- Explosion[/box]
Forretress works well here with Gyarados as Gyarados can easily sponge fire attacks aimed at Forretress, who can in turn cover for ice attacks aimed at Gyarados. Forretress also makes up for a lot of the resistances you would lose by removing Jirachi, and it can set up Toxic Spikes if you would like.

Sup this seems like a pretty cool team, it seems like you are trying to remove pokemon for a lucario sweep in the end of the game; however I am confused by some of your choices. First of all I notice a weakness to offensive suicune. Your only water resist which happens to be Gyarados is both weak to stealth rocks and is vulnerable to HP Electric. Speaking of your only water resist, Life Orb Gyarados is a bit frail compared to its bulky counterpart. This means that LO Gyara has a difficult time switching into powerful attacks like Heatran's Life Orb Fire Blast or Infernape's Life Orb Overheat. This is why I am going to suggest that you run a much bulkier Gyarados that can help out your Lucario sweep. I believe that if you run a Rest Talk Gyarados with Thunder Wave it will work fantastically as a Rotom lure which is oftentimes the bane of a Lucario sweep.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Impish 248 HP | 252 Def | 8 SpD Intimidate
Rest | Sleep Talk | Thunder Wave | Waterfall

This Gyarados is played in order to paralyze and therefore cripple Lucario's checks. A lot of different Rotom will be switching in on Gyarados only to be paralyzed by Thunder Wave and perhaps picked off by a different team member later in the game. With Gyarados paralyzing its common switchins, Suicune can be more easily played around as it will be slower than every member on your team.

Although Gyarados sponges high powered attacks from Heatran and Infernape, I still notice that you have quite a weakness to offensive suicune. I would recommend simply switching your variant of Jirachi around. I think a Choice Scarf Jirachi would work perfectly in this spot. This Jirachi would really help you with your Dragon Dancer weakness, which seems to be quite prominent in this team.

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Jolly 4 HP | 252 Atk | 252 Spe Serene Grace
Iron Head | Fire Punch | Ice Punch | Thunderpunch

Now I would like to fix some synergy issues with this team. In my opinion, adding pursuit bait to this team would be fantastic as Lucario loves the free opportunities to set up. Since this is a wifi team, rotom is unavailable, so I would simply recommend that you run a Pain Split Gengar which forms a nice offensive core with Lucario in that Lucario's number 1 counter, Gliscor, is unable to touch Gengar allowing for a free sub. I would run Gengar over Mesprit as Mesprit is honestly not doing much to support your team in terms of checking threats. I would simply run Shadow Ball | Focus Blast | Substitute | Pain Split with 4 HP | 252 SpA | 252 Spe and a timid nature on your gengar.

Finally, I highly suggest that you replace that Swampert lead of yours, not only is Swampert set up bait for spikes and offensive grass types, but it usually loses a lot of match ups in the lead position. I think a Life Orb Heatran lead would work very well in setting up stealth rocks and also provide an incredible offensive threat in midgame as well. I would run a simple EV spread of 4 HP | 252 SpA | 252 Spe with Overheat | Hidden Power [Grass] | Earth Power | Explosion and a modest nature. I would also like to note that a spread of 252 HP | 4 Def | 252 Spe would work much more effectively over your current one. This allows Gliscor to speed tie with opposing Gliscor and potentially toxic it, which is very helpful against stall teams.

Alright that is all I have to say for now. Good Luck!
