Gengar has great Speed and Special Attack, which allows it to function as a potent revenge killer that can also sweep a weakened team late-game. Its STAB Shadow Ball allows it to beat Ghost-type teams. Gengar has great coverage in the form of Focus Blast to hit Pokemon that resist its STAB like Tyranitar, and Dazzling Gleam for Dragon-types like Kommo-o and Hydreigon.

Gengar is a frail Pokemon, so Toxapex is an incredible teammate, as it absorbs hits for it. It is particularly useful against threats with priority like Mimikyu and Bisharp. Drapion is able to switch into the super effective Psychic-, Dark-, and Ghost-type attacks that are used against Gengar. Roserade helps it handle Ground-type Pokemon while also setting Spikes, which makes Gengar's late-game cleaning easier. Toxtricity can bring Gengar in with Volt Switch and beat Pokemon like Corviknight and Toxapex that would otherwise come in and wall Gengar. Toxicroak breaks the special walls, like Snorlax, that would otherwise hinder Gengar's sweep. Galarian Weezing provides a Ground immunity and can remove entry hazards with Defog, allowing Gengar to come in more freely during the game. Moreover, it serves as another Dark-resistant teammate to support Gengar. Vileplume helps Gengar by checking Excadrill, which greatly threatens Poison-type teams. Salazzle also aids Gengar by threatening Steel-type teams and withering down other types with a Substitute + Toxic set.

-Expound on Toxtricity as a teammate a bit more; being able to threaten foes like Corviknight and Toxapex which would otherwise comfortably switch into Gengar is pretty big.
-Galarian Weezing also holds merit in being an additional Dark resist for Gengar.

In the first paragraph talk about its Shadow Ball and Ghost-typing being great against Ghost-type teams. Also worth mentioning its high Speed and Special Attack in the first line so the paragraph doesn't look too short.

Mention Vileplume as a teammate because it can check Excadrill, a huge threat to Poison. Also add Salazzle since it's amazing against Steel, one of the best types right now, and can annoy other types as well with its Toxic, Substitute, and Protect set, combined with defensive pivots like Toxapex to rack up poison damage.
