Gengar is one of the most formidable sweepers in Mix and Mega due to its excellent base state distribution, unique typing, and immediate post mega power. Lucarionite gives Gengar's STABs a massive boost in strength and grants it a key increases in Speed; allowing it to outspeed Lucarionite Terrakion, Lopunnite Mew, and Metagrossite Excadrill. Nasty Plot is Gengar's new toy that allows it to dramatically increase its sweeping capabilities in a single turn enabling it to OHKO the majority of the offensive metagame including Lucarionite Terrakion, Blastoisnite Hydreigon, and Excadrill as well as 2HKO key defensive Pokemon like Sablenite Mandibuzz and Corviknight. Shadow Ball is Gengar's Ghost-type STAB that allows it to threaten Mew and Jellicent and hit many neutral targets including Terrakion, Excadrill, Mamoswine and Toxtricity. Gengar's strongest attack is Sludge Wave; a Poison-type STAB that is capable of ripping through the Fairy-types like Altarianite Arcanine, Kommo-o, and Clefable. This attack is also Gengar's means to break past Dark-types that resist Shadow Ball like Blastoisnite Hydreigon and Sablenite Mandibuzz if it doesn't have Thunderbolt. Sludge Bomb is an alternative that sacrifices a bit of Base Power for a higher chance to Poison. Thunderbolt is a coverage option that hits Toxapex, Mandibuzz, and Corviknight for Super Effective damage. Energy Ball is an alternative that enables Gengar to lure Ground-types like Tyranitarite Rhyperior, Sablenite Gastrodon and have a 62.5% chance to OHKO Lucarionite Mamoswine while also picking off weakened Tyranitar after a Nasty Plot.
