Hello everyone and welcome to my very first RMT post ever, please try to deal with the sloppiness of the post. But let's get straight to business. What inspired the idea of this team for me was trying to make an OU team without rain abusing like almost everyone seems to be doing now-a-day. So I figured I'd go with Sand something I've personally seen a lot less than Rain/Sun and here I am now after testing out this team for a couple weeks I figured I'd post it here to have to guys help kink out some of flaws to this otherwise fun team.

lets get to the team shall we...

Pokemon #1

248.png

Tyranitar(Ganon)@Leftovers
Nature: Adamant (+Atk -SpAtk)
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP /252 SpDef /4 Atk
Stealth Rock
Stone Edge
Pursuit
Superpower

So this is just your standard Specially Defensive set, I switched to this one just recently after using the Choice Band set for a couple weeks. I must say I have been enjoying the extra bit of damage from the entry hazards so far. Other than that I feel that this set has just been lacking the raw power that comes behind Ttar, but I was sick of getting locked into pursuit and decided this was my best bet for now. I mean his role is obvious, set up sand and rocks and then absorb the occasional attack the rest of my team cannot take so well. Some examples being psychic attacks towards poor Virizion or even having a resisted hit to the oh so common Tornadus 100% accuracy Hurricane on opposing rain teams.

Pokemon #2

130.png

Gyarados(Leviathan)@Leftovers
Nature:Adamant (+Atk -SpAtk)
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: HP 56 / Atk 248 / Spe 204
Substitute
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Bounce

So for my next pokemon I use the Sub + DD set Gyarados. The whole point behind this Gyarados is to send it in on something I know I can either scare out, or that I know I out speed and is going to try to status me. Once he's in it's a matter of setting up a Sub to hide behind and Dance until I'm confident enough to tear through some pokemon with two great stabs in Waterfall and Bounce. I personally go with Bounce over Stone Edge on this set because the chance of Parahax is always an added plus to a potential sweep or a free sub/set up for another turn. However, the accuracy of both moves is a bit of a bummer and has led me to thinking Ice Fang may be a nice switch.

Pokemon #3

472.png

Gliscor(Batman)@Toxic Orb
Nature: Impish (+Def -SpAtk)
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: HP 252 / Def 180 / Spe 76
Swords Dance
Earthquake
Ice Fang
Protect

So here we have another set-up sweeper of the team so far. I use this Gliscor almost 100% of the time due to the fighting resistance. People usually lead with their Ttar counter when I send him out so that's usually when I will go for an early set up after absorbing any fighting attack they dish out and laughing off the damage thanks to Poison Heal. The EV spread is fine tuned specifically to out speed other bulky gliscors and go for a potential KO with an Ice Fang if boosted enough after a couple Dances. Other than that I've been using Protect to scout a bit easier. I was running Taunt before I swapped it for Protect. I did this mainly because I rarely found myself using Taunt, whereas Protect I've been using every match so far, whether it's just for a turn of poison heal or scouting out an ice beam/HP Ice it's been a great help so far.

Pokemon #4

485.png

Heatran(BBQ)@Choice Scarf
Nature: Timid (+Spe - Atk)
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Overheat
Flamethrower
Earth Power
Dragon Pulse

I've never really liked Heatran as a pokemon back in 4th gen days, but I fear his Steel/Fire typing helps a lot with this team. I use the basic Scarfed set because I felt I needed him as a reliable revenge killer when needed and without scarf his poor speed just wasn't cutting it. Not to mention his immunity to fire helps keep Virizion out of danger from most fire pokemon and even grants me somewhat of a defense towards some sun abusers as well. Other than that I try to keep Heatran out of the battle an let the other Pokes make a dent in their team until he is absolutely necessary.

Pokemon #5

640.png

Virizion(Bambi's Mom)@Leftovers
Nature: Timid (+Spe - Atk)
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Calm Mind
Giga Drain
Focus Blast
Hidden Power Ice

Here is the last of my set up sweepers and I try to keep her for late game. I run the Calm Mind set just because I find it isn't used as often and people aren't expecting it as much as a Swords Dance set. The moveset is pretty regular although I have been thinking about playing around with it Focus Blasts accuracy has lost me matches it's true but the raw power behind it when it hits more than makes up for it, however I have a lot of pokemon with Ice type attacks so I was thinking maybe swapping my Hidden Power for something else I'm open to ideas if you guys have any.

Pokemon #6

423.png

Gastrodon(Kezia)@Leftovers
Nature: Sassy (+SpDef - Spe)
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SpDef
Earthquake
Ice Beam
Toxic
Recover

Last, but certainly not least is my precious Gastro. In case you haven't noticed this team is crazy weak to water attacks so if it weren't for my little pink wonder here absorbing all them nasty water attacks, most rain teams would make very short work of my team. The set I've gone with is a slightly altered version of the Tank build the main difference being the added Def EVs. I did this mainly because most of my team as is are very specially defensive so I felt adding a little physical bulk to a pokemon made specifically to absorb all water attacks isn't that bad a thing and it's worked out better than I thought it would.

Alright guys there it is, I know this isn't the best RMT post, but like I said before it's my first I apologize if it's not the most informative, but I assure you I've been testing this team out for quite some time now and have been happy with it for the most part, help me be even happier with it

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and any feedback is more than welcomed, I'll be waiting, cheers...

Hi, protest the nero! Solid team. My only recommendation would be to utilize Hidden Power Ice over Dragon Pulse on Heatran. This change lets you check a wider variety of threats, like Gliscor and Landorus, in addition to still being able to do massive damage to Dragons like Dragonite, who is hit harder by Hidden Power Ice than Dragon Pulse. HP Ice offers great coverage. Cool team, and good luck!

Hey, Expert Physics and thanks for the rate :) I'm glad you liked my team I've been working pretty hard on a solid sand team for a while now. I'm pretty happy with how this one's been playing out. Although, I will take your point into consideration and try it out for a week or so, if I like it that much more I'll totally make sure to switch it up permanently. Thanks again for the rate, cheers!

Gyarados seems to be a little bit out of place on this team. You don't have rain to boost his waterfalls or support (via paralysis to allow him to set up better or wish). i know this team isn't based around a Gyarados sweep, but its a pokemon that struggles with substitute, stealth rocks, and sandstorm depleting its health.

I would replace it with a specially defensive Jirachi. Virizion is gonna have a lot of trouble against tornadus. Not only does it resist both of your stabs, but it gets outsped and ohko'd by hurricane. However, the biggest problem is that u-turn and superpower are both attacks that will dent virizion and you need Life orb to be able to have a chance at ohko'g tornadus

252 +1 SpAtk Life Orb Virizion Hidden Power Ice vs 0 HP/0 SpDef Tornadus-T (-SpDef) : 94.31% - 111.04%
62.5% chance to OHKO

Jirachi handles tornadus and other special threats relatively well and it allows you to heal up Tyranitar (or other team members) if you need it to survive long enough to win the weather war.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Careful + spdef - spatk
252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 attack
-Iron Head
-wish
-Body slam
-Fire punch

Fire punch so magnezone doesnt destroy you. Tornadus and Magnezone are becoming a popular duo, and jirachi puts a halt to that immediately.

Hey Chimpakt, thanks for the rate! So I get where you're coming from, but I'm not 100% sure I wanna' get rid of Gyarados just yet. Even outside of the rain I do get quite a few sweeps out of people just not expecting the substitute set at all. Not to mention without him Gliscor is pretty much my only physical attacker. Although the special defensive Jirachi set you suggested is tempting to try out. I'll at least test and out and make sure to tell you how it turns out. Thanks again, cheers!

Made some small changes, added Protect to Gliscor instead of Taunt other than that still looking for some more feedback, thanks to everyone who's helped so far and everyone else who's been browsing the team :)

A quick question: how do you deal with CM Keldeo? Based on what I can see in your team, it can come in on a Crunch or Stone Edge from Tyranitar or Overheat / Flamethrower from your Heatran, acquire one Calm Mind, and proceed to wreak havoc on your team. Right now, your only options are to stall it out or go for a Speed tie with your Virizion. After a Calm Mind, Gyarados is 2HKOed by a Life Orb Hydro Pump and Gastrodon is 2HKOed by a Life Orb Secret Sword. Your Heatran will only be able to deal 22.22% - 26.23% with Earth Power to Keldeo after a Calm Mind. While Virizion is a good Keldeo check, you have to rely on a Speed tie in that case to beat it. It's because of Keldeo's threat level that I'd recommend using a Specially Defensive Amoonguss over Virizion. While you do lose a bit of speed and power, you get an extremely durable answer to Keldeo that almost never goes down, unless you play extremely badly.

Sets:
591.png

Amoonguss @ Leftovers | Regenerator
Calm Nature | 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDef | 2 Atk / 30 Def
Spore | Clear Smog / Stun Spore | Giga Drain | Hidden Power [Ice]

This set checks Keldeo, Starmie, Breloom, and Thundurus-T excellently. Spore is a pseudo-KO due to Gen. V's sleep mechanics, Clear Smog resets boosts, Giga Drain gives reliable recovery, and Hidden Power Ice gives Amoonguss the ability to shoot opposing Gliscor, Landorus-T, and dragons out of the sky. Of course, if you want to go a double powder route, then Stun Spore can be used over Clear Smog to incapacitate another Pokemon.

Nice team, and good luck!
