Set #1 Giratina

Giratina is one of the best if not the best wall in the game. With it's GIGANTIC defensive stats that a Snorlax in generation 1 can only dream about it can potentially leave a huge dent in the opposing team. But I prefer using this set as a late game sweeper.

Name: The Walling Beast
Move #1: Calm Mind
Move #2: Will-O-Wisp
Move #3: Dragon Pulse / Hex
Move #4: Dragon Tail / Hex / Pain Split / Rest / Aura Sphere / Earthquake
Held Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold (Def + / Atk -)
Ability: Pressure
EV's: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

Analysis:

Calm mind is in the first slot for Giratina to wall special attackers such as Mewtwo and Kyogre. Will-O-Wisp is a must for ALL Giratina sets mainly because it reduces the likes of Rayquaza, Groudon, and Zekrom to mere babies when they attempt to punch Giratina "Hard". Dragon Pulse on the other hand is your primary attacking move because steel types are the only ones that resist it. Hex can be a viable option in place of Dragon pulse as it gets a boost from will-o-wisp as well as STAB, however, the type coverage of hex is not really good. That being said, I made it an option in the last slot as it gives a lot more type coverage. Dragon Tail in a lot of ways is probably the best move for the last slot, it damages and also gets rid of Kyogre trying to Calm mind along side you and other sweepers that rely heavily on boosts. Pain Split is taken ahead of rest because like Will-O-Wisp it cripples the enemy and benefits you, that is if you use it wisely. Rest would be a good choice to get rid of status problems however, the drawback is that you are vulnerable for 3 turns ever since GEN V came in. The Last two moves are for steel types which takes away the weakness of your dragon pulse. Aura Sphere is the preferred move as it covers Darkrai and Dialga not to mention it hits flying types.

Giratina is a very hard wall to break as I have tried to cover all of the weaknesses it has with this set, but like the Walls of Jericho it can still be brought down... Somehow...

Set #2 Giratina

Now just because this is the set placed second on the list doesn't mean it's weaker than the first one. In fact this set is so specialized and yet it's just as hard to bring down.

Name: The Lead Destroyer
Move #1: Substitute
Move #2: Rest / Pain Split
Move #3: Will-O-Wisp
Move #4: Dragon Tail
Held Item: Leftovers
Nature: Careful (SpD + / SpA -)
EV's: 252 HP / 126 Def / 130 SpD /

Analysis:

At first glance this set might not look like much of a threat but beware. This set is meant to severely weaken your opponent. Because of Giratina's great bulk along with substitute and Rest or pain split, it can easily be an annoyance for your opponent. This sets main goal is to weaken the ENTIRE ENEMY TEAM which is very useful or should I say GAME BREAKING. First, you have to Will-Tail away then subrest or you can will-o-wisp then use substitute, dragon tail away before using pain split on the next full health pokemon while having leftovers set you up for another substitute before burning them again and tailing them out of the way. This set is so versatile that it can be used on absolutely any team and it will be the focal point for the enemy, as if they had any other choice...
