Glastrier @ Leftovers
Ability: Chilling Neigh
EVs: 252 HP / 20 SpD / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
- Icicle Crash
- Close Combat
After an unbanning from the most recent suspect test, Glastrier dominates NU as a fearsome stallbreaker. Ice- and Fighting-type coverage hits most of the tier for strong damage and breaks the likes of Flygon, Guzzlord, and Copperajah. This set is tailored to set up on Vaporeon, as Glastrier outspeeds it and its Substitute tanks one Scald. What holds Glastrier back is its awful defensive typing and relatively poor Speed. There's no shortage of faster wallbreakers like Sirfetch'd, Machamp, and Exploud that prevent setup opportunities for it. Fire-types like Salazzle and Arcanine also check Glastrier, so Water- and Dragon-types like Vaporeon, Flygon, and Dragalge are necessary teammates. Without Heavy-Duty Boots, Glastrier needs support from Flygon, Xatu, and Starmie to avoid taking Stealth Rock damage; the latter two also help by checking Fighting-types.
