[OVERVIEW]
Glastrier is an alternative Trick Room attacker to Calyrex-I with its niche being that it does not come at the cost of a restricted slot. It still has the ability to be a potent sweeper thanks to Chilling Neigh and its strong range of coverage, meaning nothing can ever really switch into it safely. The likes of Groudon, Venusaur, and Yveltal are heavily threatened by Glastrier's powerful Max Hailstorm. Thanks to its superb natural bulk and ability to boost its defenses with Max Steelspike and Max Quake, Glastrier is very hard to KO easily. However, it is somewhat reliant on Trick Room being active due to its low Speed. Additionally, Glastrier often needs to Dynamax in order to deal significant damage to bulky threats such as Kyogre or Dialga.
[SET]
name: Trick Room Attacker
move 1: Icicle Crash / Icicle Spear
move 2: High Horsepower
move 3: Close Combat / Heavy Slam
move 4: Protect / Heavy Slam
item: Weakness Policy / Life Orb / Assault Vest
ability: Chilling Neigh
nature: Brave
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
ivs: 0 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
* Icicle Crash is preferred as it typically a chance to land a timely flinch, though Icicle Spear has the notable advantage of perfect accuracy and the ability to break through a Focus Sash. It is worth noting that both attacks have the same Base Power for Max Hailstorm.
* High Horsepower pairs perfectly with Glastrier's STAB-move allowing it to hit Incineroar, Dialga, and Zacian-C for solid damage. Max Quake is excellent for boosting its Special Defense and allowing it to better matchup against Kyogre and Calyrex-S.
* Close Combat gives a higher damage output option for Incineroar and Dialga while also letting Glastrier boost its Attack with Max Knuckle. Heavy Slam can be used to hit Fairy-types such as Grimmsnarl and Xerneas while also being able to boost its Defense with Max Steelspike, letting it stand up to Urshifu-S and Zacian-C much easier.
* Glastrier makes for a great Weakness Policy user thanks to its weaknesses to multiple common attacking types like Steel and Fire. Life Orb can be used for an immediate boost to its damage output, but makes it more susceptible to Intimidate and compromises its bulk. Assault Vest Glastrier is an amazing option for walling strong special attackers including Calyrex-S and Regieleki.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Swords Dance is useful for counteracting Attack drops from opposing Intimidate, while Throat Chop or Lash Out can be useful coverage options for hitting Calyrex-S hard. Lum Berry is nice for avoiding status from Will-O-Wisp or Spore; however, its use is fairly limited and likely will not be as useful as other item options. White Herb can be used to counteract Intimidate from Incineroar and KO it back with a Max Quake.
