[OVERVIEW]

Gligar's phenomenal typing and utility make it an excellent Ground-type in NU, and it checks many physical wallbreakers like Flygon, Overqwil, and Toxicroak. Furthermore, it also excels on entry hazard-spam teams, as it has both Spikes and Stealth Rock. Many hazard stack teams appreciate Gligar's access to Knock Off allowing them to overwhelm foes with hazards. Immunity lets Gligar consistently switch in against foes that spread poison, like Alolan Muk, Toxicroak, and Overqwil. However, Gligar lacks any form of recovery, meaning many foes that it checks like Incineroar, Flygon, and Heracross can wear it down over a battle. Furthermore, Gligar often switches into Knock Off users such as Cinccino, Copperajah, and Incineroar that can reduce its effectiveness. Gligar's average Special Defense makes it worry about special wallbreakers like Toxtricity, Inteleon, and Chandelure, as they can either OHKO it or force it to switch out.

Knock Off lets Gligar remove Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon like Kilowattrel, Chandelure, and Incineroar, increasing the efficacy of its entry hazards. Alternatively, Toxic allows it to pressure defensive tanks like Vaporeon and Gastrodon. Gligar can run Stealth Rock alongside Spikes, letting it set up multiple hazards. Knock Off is preferred over U-turn if Gligar is running dual hazards. Gligar can run Acrobatics so that if it loses its Eviolite it can hit Fighting- and Grass-types like Flamigo, Heracross, and Amoonguss with a strong STAB attack. 56 Speed EVs allow Gligar to outspeed Adamant Incineroar, while 140 Speed EVs let it outpace Jolly Incineroar and Adamant Decidueye. Tera Water allows Gligar to handle foes like Inteleon, Basculegion, Paldean Tauros-W, and Hisuian Typhlosion in a pinch.

Gligar appreciates teammates like Toxicroak, Breloom, and Brambleghast, as they can handle bulky Water-types such as Vaporeon, Gastrodon, and Milotic. In return, it handles Poison-types like Galarian Slowbro and Overqwil. Gligar pairs well with Wish passers such as Sylveon, Vaporeon, and Florges for recovery, and they allow it to consistently handle physical attackers like Flygon and Toxicroak. Gligar synergizes greatly with other entry hazards setters such as Copperajah, Bronzong, and Registeel, since they can set hazards. These hazard setters can also form good defensive cores with it, as they can check special attackers like Munkidori, whereas Gligar can handle physical ones such as Toxicroak and Flygon. Similarly, Gligar appreciates more dedicated special walls such as Porygon2, Milotic, and Gastrodon, since they check powerful special wallbreakers like Toxtricity, Inteleon, and Sylveon that can overwhelm Gligar. Wallbreakers such as Basculegion, Decidueye, and Porygon-Z appreciate hazard support from Gligar letting them weaken defensive tanks like Amoonguss and Diancie.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Gligar can opt to run a Swords Dance set, which makes it a menacing wallbreaker; however, it has to decide between Knock Off for Bronzong or Agility to not be revenge killed as easily, making such a set undesired. Toxic Spikes can pressure the opponent's switches and wear down the opposing team more easily. Taunt allows Gligar to deny any entry hazards and setup attempts. Tera Fairy provides useful defensive value against Dragon- and Dark-types like Flygon and Incineroar, but it loses a useful resistance to Poison-type attacks.

Checks and Counters
====

**Water-types**: Vaporeon, Milotic, and Gastrodon can easily tank Gligar's attacks and threaten it back with Scald and Ice Beam. Offensive Water-types like Inteleon, Basculegion, and Paldean Tauros-W can easily destroy it with their Water-type attacks, and the last one can use Gligar as setup fodder. However, all of them have to be worried about switching into Toxic.

**Ice-types and Ice-type Coverage**: Alolan Ninetales and Avalugg can threaten Gligar with their Ice-type STAB attacks. Pokemon that carry Ice-type coverage like Ice Punch Toxicroak and Ice Beam Galarian Slowbro and Porygon-Z can easily KO Gligar.

**Special Wallbreakers**: Choice Specs users, such as Toxtricity, Chandelure, and Sylveon, can easily destroy Gligar or force it to switch out. Other special wallbreakers like Kilowattrel, Munkidori, and Inteleon can pivot on Gligar to gain free momentum.

**Item Displacement**: Pokemon that Gligar checks like Alolan Muk, Copperajah, and Heracross often carry Knock Off, making it a bit worse to repeatedly switch in against them. Choice-item users like Munkidori and Florges can be problematic for Gligar, as they can cripple its utility by using Trick.

**Item Displacement**: Pokemon that Gligar handles checks like Mienshao Alolan Muk, Copperajah, and Heracross often carry Knock Off making it a bit worse to repeatedly switch-in against them. Trick users like Munkidori and Florges can be problematic for Gligar, as they can lock it into one of its moves.

[OVERVIEW]

Gligar’s phenomenal typing and utility makes make it an excellent Ground-type in NU. Gligar, and it checks many physical wallbreakers like Flygon, Overqwil, and Toxicroak. Furthermore, it also excels on many (reduces repetition) hazard-spam hazard spam teams, as it has access to both Spikes and Stealth Rock. Many hazard stack teams appreciate Gligar Gligar's access to Knock Off allowing them to overwhelm foes with entry hazards. Gligar's useful Immunity to Poison-type status lets it Gligar consistently switch-in switch in against foes that spread poison, like Alolan Muk, Toxicroak, and Overqwil. However, Gligar it lacks any form of recovery, meaning many foes that Gligar it checks like Incineroar, Flygon, and Heracross can wear it down over a battle. Furthermore, Gligar often switch switches into Knock Off users like such as Cinccino, Copperajah, and Incineroar that can reduce its effectiveness. Gligar's average Special Defense makes it worried worry about special wallbreakers like Toxtricity, Inteleon, and Chandelure, as they can either OHKO it or force Gligar it to switch out.

Gligar can run Stealth Rock alongside Spikes, (AC) letting it setup set up multiple hazards. Knock Off is preferred over U-turn if Gligar is running dual hazards. Gligar can run Acrobatics so that if it loses its Eviolite it can hit Fighting- and Grass-types like Flamigo, Heracross, and Amoonguss with a strong STAB attack. The 56 Speed EVs allows allow Gligar to outspeed Adamant Incineroar, while 140 Speed EVs lets let it outpace Jolly Incineroar and Adamant Decidueye. Tera Water allows Gligar to handle foes like Inteleon, Basculegion, Paldean Tauros-W, and Hisuian Typhlosion in a pinch.

Gligar appreciates teammates like Toxicroak, Breloom, and Brambleghast, as they can handle bulky Water-types like such as Vaporeon, Gastrodon, and Milotic. In return, it handles Poison-types like Galarian Slowbro and Overqwil. Gligar pairs well with Wish passers such as Sylveon, Vaporeon, and Florges giving it recovery, allowing Gligar it to consistently handle physical attackers like Flygon and Toxicroak. Gligar synergizes greatly with other entry hazards setters like such as Copperajah, Bronzong and Registeel, since they can setup stack hazards. These hazard setters and they can also form a good defensive core cores with it, checking as they can check special attackers like Munkidori, (AC) whereas Gligar can handle more physical ones such as Toxicroak and Flygon. Similarly, Gligar appreciates more dedicated special walls like such as Porygon2, Milotic, and Gastrodon checking powerful special wallbreakers like Toxtricity, Inteleon, and Sylveon, which that can overwhelm Gligar it. Powerful wallbreakers like Wallbreakers such as Basculegion, Decidueye, and Porygon-Z appreciate hazard support from Gligar, letting them to weaken defensive tanks like Amoonguss and Diancie.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Gligar can opt to run a Swords Dance set, (AC) making it a menacing wallbreaker; however, Gligar having it has to decide between running Knock Off, which lets it hit for Bronzong, (RC) or Agility, which lets it to not be revenge killed as easily, makes it making such a set undesired. Toxic Spikes can be to pressure the opponent's switches and wear down the opposing team more easily. Taunt allows it Gligar to deny any (is this true for Pokemon that outspeed Gligar?) entry hazards and setup attempts. Tera Fairy provides a useful resistance to defensive value against Dragon- and Dark-types like Flygon and Incineroar, but it loses a useful resistance to Poison-type attacks.

Checks and Counters

**Water-types**: Vaporeon, Milotic, and Gastrodon can easily tank Gligar’s attacks and threaten it back with Scald and Ice Beam. Offensive Water-types like Inteleon, Basculegion, and Paldean Tauros-W can easily destroy it with their STAB attacks (this might make it sound like Paldean Tauros-W can destroy Gligar with Fighting-type moves, so if that's not the case, I'd specify STAB Water-type attacks), and the last one can use Gligar as setup fodder. However, all of them have to be worried about switching into Toxic.

**Ice-types and Ice-type Coverage**: Alolan Ninetails Ninetales and Avalugg can threaten Gligar with their STAB attacks (is it accurate to say STAB attacks when that could include Moonblast for Ninetales-A?). Pokemon that carries carry Ice-type coverage like Ice Punch Toxicroak and Ice Beam from Galarian Slowbro and Porygon-Z can easily KO Gligar it.

**Special Wallbreakers**: Choice Specs users, such as like Toxtricity, Chandelure, and Sylveon, (AC) can easily destroy Gligar and or force it to switch out. Other special wallbreakers like Kilowattrel, Munkidori, and Inteleon can pivot on Gligar to gain free momentum.
