(sorry if this name is really cheesy and trying to be creative but im just rlly bad)
Hello Smogon! Iampie here with my latest RMT of one of my favorite teams- Godly Inferno. This RMT section has been kind of garbage recently especially for ubers with barely any teams coming and a lot of troll teams, this is why I decided I wanted to make an RMT and I figured my favorite team that I have kind have played out and don’t use much anymore would be perfect. This is a team that was originally built around Ho-oh which is something that I hadn’t really built around this gen and is something really good that can find free turns on many of the Pokemon in this meta.
So the first obvious choice was Ho-oh, the mon I am building around and is the mascot for Godly Inferno. This thing can find free turns to sub against many teams and wreak havoc using sacred fire burns and its fantastic coverage using only its two STAB moves.
My next choice was Groudon which could set SR for ho-oh, provide sun support for sacred fire to do insane damage, and take things such as bolt strike for ho-oh. I went for physically defensive in order to check E-Killer very well.
Now what I wanted was a defogger. I chose Giratina-O because it can check ground spam, unlike ho-oh because many of the ground types carry stone edge to get really good coverage, so ho-oh cant switch in. However, Giratina-O was perfect because it was immune to EQ, neutral to SE, could threaten the ground types with Will-O-MissWisp. It could also check Blaziken unlike Groudon because it just gives Blaziken sun to wreak havoc with Flare Blitz.
Giratina-O gives a lot of free turns to Xerneas and Yveltal, so I wanted to check them next. Klefki was the perfect choice because it can resist both of Yveltals STAB moves as well as Xerneas’ and threaten them both with twave and set up spikes on them it also checks geomancy xerneas because it can twave it and slow it down for something else to revenge kill it.
At this point I really wanted a choice scarf user. Zekrom was a good choice because I could use Sleep talk to threaten Darkrai, which finds free turns against Gira-O and revenge kill a suprising number of mons. This also can threaten both Giratinas which are very annoying to Godly Inferno. This is very good at pressuring Kyogre as well, but is not a switch in, so next I needed a Kyogre check.
My last choice… I needed a Kyogre check desperately and I couldn’t break stall very well aside from ho-oh. Opposing Ho-oh were also very hard to switch in to. I decided to use CM Refresh WaterCeus because it breaks stall, checks kyogre, and can switch into non-band Ho-oh very easily and threaten it.
Without further ado, I present to you: Godly Inferno
Giratina-Origin @ Griseous Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Dragon Tail
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp
Here we have Giratina-Origin. The defog Utility set. It is IMO a great mon to use this gen simply because #1. It checks Blaziken very well #2. It can switch in to bulky ground types such as Groudon and Landorus and defog their rocks away as well as threaten them with Will-O-Wisp and #3. It can anti-lead deo-s and deo-a. Some downsides are that its bait to Yveltal and especially Xerneas as well as not being able to hold leftovers. This just happened to fit perfectly on Godly Inferno especially because I have a great check to both Yveltal and Xerneas. Another great thing about this mon is that it checks ekiller very well if it doesn’t run shadow claw, which a lot don’t anymore. This is also a really reliable mon at Defogging vs sticky.
Spread is standard. 248 HP to take hits as well as possible as well as hitting an odd HP number for toxic/burn/SR numbers. 252 Atk and Adamant for hitting blaze and Mewtwo as hard as possible with D-Tail and Shadow Sneak, respectively.
Ho-Oh @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Sacred Fire
- Roost
- Brave Bird
Here we have the mascot of Godly Inferno, Ho-oh. The classic SubRoost set. This is what the team is built around and it just does so well. It can switch in on many mons in the meta and get up a free sub including Xerneas, scizor, Klefki, various Arceus forms such as fairy and every single steel type in the game barring something like Aggron (lol) or faster ones with like Stone edge (lucario). It also checks CM arc forms such as Ghost with sacred fire burns and wearing it down with a combination of brave birds and sacred fires. Also after it gets a sub up, it can either threaten burns to its checks or threaten them with brave bird. A good example would be the opponent sending Kyogre into Ho-oh expecting the sacred fire, then me subbing and doing a hefty chunk with Brave bird. This can also serve as a backup for a Xern check after Klefki is gone if it doesn’t have rock slide. This is also able to switch in infinitely on Gira-O (without stone edge and without Stealth rock up) which is a huge annoyance to Godly Inferno.
The spread is fairly simple. 208 HP so blobs can’t break the sub in one hit with Seismic Toss and to hit an odd HP number, 48 speed is good speedcreep that can outspeed most other speedcreeping base 90’s because usually it is like 12-40, finally 252 attack and adamant is to hit as hard as possible. Moves are obvious, sub to take advantage of things that this forces out, obligatory roost, and Sacred fire and Brave Bird for STABs.
Arceus-Water @ Splash Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 84 SDef / 176 Spd
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Refresh
This is honestly one of my favorite Pokemon to use in Ubers. It can break stall using CM and refresh, being able to set up on a huge portion of the Ubers tier and is very hard to stop after it sets up. It is also a great Ho-oh check and decent Kyogre check being able to set up on anything besides Thunder or Specs Water Spout. This is also the team’s switch in to Palkia, it is able to set up 6 CMs on it unless it gets fully paralyzed many times in a row vs a Twave LustKia (which has happened before >:[) I decided to use this set over the standard support set because Gira-O pretty much does everything that support Arceus-Water does (that Cm arceus-water doesn’t accomplish too) and more (anti-leading deo-s and deo-a)
I chose CM refresh over CM Wisp because I wanted to be able to break stall. My EVs are to Outspeed MGar before MEvo and the rest into as much bulk as possible. I used my remaining EVs into SDef instead of Def because this is Godly Inferno’s Kyogre switchin.
Groudon @ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 248 HP / 208 Def / 52 Spd
Impish Nature
- Roar
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
Here we have our support Groudon. This things job is to check Physical attackers (E-killer, Zekrom, etc) and is the Stealth Rock setter for Godly Inferno. Roar is useful for phasing through the opponents team. This also provides sun support which is good for stopping Kyogre in its tracks after it has picked up a kill and also helping Ho-oh do insane damage with Sacred fire. Not much else to say about this mon. Fairly simple. On to the spread.
The speed creep is to be able to outspeed substitute ho-oh trying to have 405 HP, max attack, and rest in speed (like mine). The rest of my EVs I put into HP and Defense because this is my main measure to most of the physical attackers in the metagame, it is piss weak but its worth it.
Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Play Rough
- Toxic
- Thunder Wave
- Spikes
Here we have Klefki. This is an amazing switchin to both Yveltal and Xerneas and this is also able to set spikes and check CM Arceus forms using toxic such as Ghost, Electric, and Water (without refresh). Thunder Wave is very important to be able to check Geomancy Xerneas and is also a spammable on the switch as Klefki can force a lot of switches with the threat of multiple layers of Spikes. Play Rough is there simply to break the Sub of SubGeoXern. This plus Ho-oh is able to put pressure on a lot of teams because of Spikes and the amount of offensive pressure Ho-oh provides.
For the spread I went full on Specially defensive because I want to be able to take the onslaughts of Dark pulses and Moonblasts throughout each game. I put the remaining 8 in Def because why not. :]
Zekrom @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Bolt Strike
- Outrage
- Volt Switch
- Sleep Talk
Ahh a classic ScarfKrom. I chose this mon because I needed a revenge killer that could threaten Kyogre, Ho-oh, and Gira-A. I chose sleep talk over Draco meteor because I have two great switch ins to the normal targets of DM (bulky groudons) (arc water and gira o). Bolt strike is able to 2hko just about anything that doesn’t resist it and Outrage is my secondary STAB that can be great for cleaning and beats up Gira-O and A which really annoy Godly Inferno. Volt switch for momentum.
My spread is fairly simple, max speed and attack as a physical scarfer. The thing you might notice peculiar is the Jolly nature over adamant. I chose this in order to ALWAYS outspeed ScarfOgre as this is the only thing that can really threaten it a lot besides like Ho-oh’s brave bird.
Well theres the team :]
