Hi everybody, it's ya girl, back with a second one of these. Look, look I bothered to get a screenshot of being at a good elo this time are you proud.
So, this time I decided to use, good pokemon. User, 658Greninja, apparently a mod ooo fun, made a post in the good cores thread about Moltres and Ting-Lu and, I think Moltres is genuinely just the best guy ever. He's funny looking, he has a crazy good defensive type, boots??? Now that's a good pokemon.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7anythinggoes-804416684?p2 Peep this if you got a second this chicken is funny. Oh I should get replays of this team lmao.
Rawr (Weavile) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Triple Axel
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Swords Dance
So, this is a canonically good Weavile set, it is fast and strong and like, cheeses focus sashes real good. It really just secures very good kills for this team and like, we all know what those kills are we're on a forum for competitive singles. Ice shard does pick up good kills and this thing is like bulkier than it looks like it does actually get to hit swords dance sometimes which is crazy this things stats for everything but attack and speed are ass lmaooooo.
Logang (Dragapult) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Clear Body
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Tera Blast
- Sucker Punch
- Dragon Dance
So I wanted to use dragon dance dragapult because he's, cool and I like him and the 2 hits of dragon darts is very satisfying to my brain. The benefit to ddance is that people think you're gonna be specs because it's like, the good set right now, which gives you a ton of free turns and like. You're fast and have dragon darts it's still pult doing speed control. These first two mons aren't super interesting they're just guys who I'm using because I like using them and they make cool big numbers.
DawnaldMidstington (Moltres) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
By all reasonable metrics, this beautiful bastard should suck ass. Like it should be truly dogshit, Raging Bolt is everywhere, Wogerpon is literally the best pokemon right now and like, Primarina is. Fortunately, people really like great tusk and kingambit and raging croissant and rillaboom and iron valiant and cinderace and zamazenta an- Physical attackers are all the rage and this typing that by all reasonable metrics, should suck absolute ass, is like crazy good. Heavy-Duty Boots are the best item ever made and like nothing good has coverage for this beyond neutral stab. Flame body is giga cheese and burn damage is way better chip than 6% ever looks like on a single turn. The 12 speed is for jolly kingambit which is based, tera fairy is entirely for when gogerpon has a cold and can't 1v1 wogerpon (though zamazenta stone edge is also good to dodge but shhhh we'll be here all night)
Buppy (Arcanine-Hisui) @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Close Combat
Bubby make the numbers. Bubby get them kills. Fire/Rock dual stab is bonkers and a +2 priority option is very nice to have. Bubby is a real good woofer, he 2hkos offensive great tusk with flare blitz and ohkos most primarinas with head smash and honestly, it just chunks shit. Like I have interesting thoughts about Gogerpon and my conclusion is gonna turn into a "hey try more mons that aren't already ou" psa but this guy? This guy fucks shit up, good for him.
Honse (Ting-Lu) @ Leftovers
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Ruination
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind
Alright I, wish I had something fun and cool like I did with Moltres but like. No this is just a good mon, covers Moltres real good. It's a good defensive core, read the post. This is like the best non-regenerator wall I've ever used btw. Eats crazy boosted hits, ruination and whirlwind mean you're never fully passive, stealth rock??? Oh yeah that's an OU mon baby.
Gogerpon (Ogerpon) (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Defiant
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Encore
So this is the boy. This is the "oh fuck Wogerpon is everywhere and broken" answer. The speed tier is great, encore is absurd, u-turn is the best move in the game, ivy cudgel is, we'll get to it. This thing is a god, like if everything about it is good, it can't be bad. Let's be brief on each point for my sanity, and get into why this is the best thing I've ever seen.
First, the looks. What a guy. Little fuckin scrimbl with a dope mask. Cool ass dude.
Second, the u-turn. It's boots u-turn get your sensitive ass back to pre-gen 8 metagames.
Third,
Fourth, so I know the tera ban is back in discourse, and honestly I like it it's stupid and unfair but I think it's fun. But, tera teal aspect is fucking, stupid. Like it's so dumb. Scarf is a silly item, but what if you could push a button where you choose to get everything good about that item, but you can still change moves and your move that's better than eq is better. Oh yes, onto that.
Fifth, the demon.
So, you know earthquake? Canonically good move? Insane as stab or a coverage option? Yeah what if it, crit one in 8 times too. And like, Yes, grass is a worse offensive type than ground and that's like true. But, there's a lot of good ground immunities the tier is largely based around (this does include air baloon gholdengo), while there's a lot of really good pokemon that get absolutely doinked by a really good grass move. And also you can just hit u-turn is always an option. I'm gonna click U-Turn more than the number of conversations I will ever have with my dad jesus fucking christ.
CONCLUSION:
Hey, so, I wrote all this stoned with like, maybe a proofread after I write this conclusion so take this as the, "oh hey i hit top 500 again let's do another rmt" whim that it is. I think running OU staples is fucking wack. Not for any good reason like, the goal is to win you should be using sd wogerpon. However, I think pokemon is at it's most fun when you have a goober you think is the shit, and you find a way for it to beat the shit out of the other guys goober. That's the good shit. Now, not every goober can be good in every tier, but every goober can be good in A tier. Truly, and I mean this. If you think Moltres, or your own goober, is just the funniest looking dude and you got a cool 6-0 with it... 6 years ago jesus christ, find the small pond he may prosper in, and let your big fish go. (Note: My ass did not preread lets rock)
