Hey, everyone. Heart Gold and Soul Silver is almost a month away and I thinking of a good team after I got Heart Gold. (Getting both versions by the way.) This is all I can think of so I might need improvements, ALOT of improvements.
Froslass
Nature: Timid
EV's: 4 Def/252 Sp. Atk/252 Spe
Held Item: Focus Sash
Ice Beam
Spikes
Taunt
Destiny Bond
Froslass is one of the good leads to choose from. She's immune to Fale Out, Explosion and Fighting types. Plus, she has the same Speed as a Gengar. So getting past her will be a pain.
Ice Beam is a STAB move that can get through Dragon and Flying types that does not have Focus Sash.
Spikes is one of the reliable moves that does additional damage to Pokemon that were sent out. It even breaks Focus Sashers.
When Froslass can't take hit anymore, Destiny Bond comes in and takes the opponent's Pokemon down with it. A good Pokemon to make the battle a 5-5.
Flygon
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Held Item: Choice Scarf
Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Punch
U-Turn
Flygon is good in many ways. It can resist Electric and Ground types and considered to be a reliable sweeper. With Choice Scarf enabled, it can almost outspeed everything.
Outrage is Flygon's strongest attack. It can cause a heck alot of damage. The downfall is I can't switch for 2 or 3 turns, giving my opponent an opening.
Earthquake is another STAB move that can take advantadge on Steel, Rock, Fire and Electric types. Always a great move for a physical sweeper.
I'm not sure if this is the right chouce but Fire Punch is something that takes care of Skarmory. Fire Blast usually does more damage but I'm not sure if I can use that move yet.
U-Turn is a filler move on Flygon. It's a move that takes care of Pokemon that switch into something else that resists it's attacks by prediction. I'll U-Turn and then switch into one of my Pokemon that handles it.
The main problem about Flygon is that it cannot survive a single Ice type attack, and even Dragon type attacks. If there is one I'll switch into Magnezone to take the hit.
Magnezone
Nature: Modest
EV's: 172 HP/252 Sp.Atk/84 Spe
Ability: Magnet Pull
Held Item: Salac Berry/Leftovers
Thunderbolt
Hidden Power Ice
Substitute
Magnet Rise
Every professional team needs a Steel type and this is the one I like. This Pokemon has the ability to trap opposing Steel types with Magnet Pull and, the Pokemon that is defensive and offensive at the same time. However, the Speed is the problem so it won't outspeed alot.
Thunderbolt is the main attack which does alot of damage and OHKO alot of Water and Flying types.
Hidden Power takes care of Pokemon that resist Thunderbolt uncluding Ground types. It does less damage though.
Substitute makes a decoy which can take a hit that's super effective to it. It can even catch the opponent offguard when he or she switched to another Pokemon. Used for prediction too.
Magnezone may not survive a single Ground type attack. However, Magnet Rise let's it resist Ground types which is useful. Making it only weak too Fire and Fighting types.
Fire and Fighting types like Infernape, Blaziken or Heatran are a serious threat to it. Problem is I don't have a safe switch in against those types which is a pain.
Breloom
Nature: Jolly
EV's: 42 HP/206 Atk/252 Spe
Ability: Poison Heal
Held Item: Toxic Orb
Seed Bomb
Sky Uppercut/Superpower
Facade
Spore
We may know that Breloom can be useful and also...a nuisance. But it can have it's flaws and downfalls. Overall, it's a great OU Pokemon.
We all know about Seed Bomb. It's a STAB move that dominates Water, Rock and Ground types. It can even OHKO some Pokemon weak to be at full health.
Sky Uppercut is another STAB move usually more powerful than Seed Bomb. A decent move for a Breloom but the downfall is it's accruacy. Superpower on the other hand is way powerful than Sky Uppercut and has more chance of KO'ing the opponent. The problem is it loses it's Attack and Defense when used. Making it vulnerable to most attacks.
Toxic Orb + Poison Heal with Facade is a neat combo on Breloom. Not only the Breloom heals HP because of Poison Heal, but it doubles the power of Facade. There are Pokemon that resist Seed Bomb and Superpower/Sky Uppercut like Celebi and Zapdos for instance. Facade can do a ton of damage to them but doesn't knock them out. Celebi and Zapdos are of course, threats.
You can't have a Breloom without Spore. Spore is a move that puts the opponent to sleep and making it fragile for a short time. However, it doesn't work on Pokemon that have Vital Spirit or Insomnia.
Most fast OU's can take down Breloom without any problem sometimes. I'm not sure if this Pokemon is worth it or not...
Blissey
Nature: Bold
EV's: 252 HP/226 Def/26 Sp. Def
Ability: Natrual Cure
Held Item: Leftovers
Seismic Toss
Flamethrower/Ice Beam
Softboiled
Aromatherapy
The cleric of this team, well the cleric of every team. She has astounding HP and Sp. Def and can take hits really well. Buuuut, Fighting types are a threat to her.
Seismic Toss does a fixed damage of 100 to a Pokemon ignoring the conditions. It's great to wear the opponent down.
Flamethrower and Ice Beam both hit Ghost types. Flamethrower is able to take down most Steel types, slightly causing the opponent to have a burn and Ice Beam for Dragon and Flying types. She even tries to freeze the opponent.
Softboiled is a must have move on Blissey. It heals half of her health to play the long game even more.
When 1 or more of my team members have a status condition, Aromatherapy comes in handy. It heals every status problem on all my team member including herself.
Yeah, like I said. Fighting type Pokemon and Pokemon with set up attacks like DD Salamence would clobber her to dust.
Lapras
Nature: Careful
EV's: 160 HP/96 Atk/252 Sp. Def
Ability: Shell Armor
Held Item: Leftovers
Avalanche
Curse
Rest
Sleep Talk
This is a move that let's Lapras play the long game. Although my luck may be off with critical hits sometimes but they won't affect Lapras because it has Shell Armor. No critical hits mean this Pokemon will go on forever.
Avalanche is the only STAB move avaliable for this Pokemon. When it is damaged, the power increases by double the amount. This move will always make Lapras move before the opponent.
Curse increases the Attack and Defense making the Pokemon bulkier to physical attacks.
Rest and Sleep Talk is what this Pokemon's about. Rest is for restoring it's HP back up and then Sleep Talk to let it pick a random move while sleeping. Cursing while Sleeping. Kind of a useful tactic if I say so myself.
I shouldn't get cocky though. Pokemon with Haze, Taunt, Trick or Encore can easily break through this Pokemon. The defense without Curses can be a problem as well since Lapras can take heavy damage to sweepers.
Well, I guess this is the team I can think of which would suit in Pokemon Heart Gold. If there are any improvements or other Pokemon which is recommended to make this team better, please tell me.
Thank you for reading. (Sorry if I'm not describing the threats or stragety right...)
