So after being gone from competitive pokemon for like a year I've come back in an hour of boredom and decided to make a new team that's done startlingly well for me considering all I knew about the current metagame going in was Gyarados was a thing and that Mega-Sceptile still looks boss af. Threw a team together fairly quickly by just tossing some mons in the air and seeing which ones got results, worked out a team that was fairly successful and made changes from there. Still needs a lot of improvement, as it feels heavily matchup reliant at the moment and struggles against some common threats more than I like, but overall it's performed solidly for my needs. Totally open to a lot of changes really, but I really like how these guys have done for me.

The Team

Shenron (Gyarados) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge

So this is where I started the teambuilding from, an extremely solid choice as this guy has arguably been team MVP from the outset, using his fantastic bulk boosted by Intimidate to come in and set up in my opponents face and act either as a win condition or as a mid-game wrecking ball depending on what I need. One of the two members of the team who I won't replace with another poke simply because of how much I enjoy using him, though I'm totally open to a change in set or moves. I prefer Stone Edge over Earthquake for coverage because of my hatred for enemy Zapdos. EVs are to maximize power.

Flinstone (Mandibuzz) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Foul Play
- Taunt

Literally the first Mandibuzz that I've ever used, EVs are thrown in as I just sort of assumed a Mandibuzz would want them and this guy has performed just fine with them. A little passive for my taste, and not the most effective wall, but Foul Play is great for stopping sweepers like Gatr from flexing in his face and Taunt is good for shutting down opposing clerics that might think they've got a chance to fix up some wounds. Defog is the real reason this guy is here though, this team needed hazard removal to keep Gyarados in the best shape possible so he can sweep, and Roost helps this guy do his job as long as possible before he's out of commission. I like him, but if you know something that would work better I'm all ears.

Mega-Tyrell (Sceptile-Mega) @ Sceptilite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Giga Drain
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast

This guy right here is the reason why Gyarados's spot as team MVP was "arguable", this guy has cleaned out weakened teams time and time again with his combination of blistering speed and raw special attacking power. I've gone for the Modest nature as even though he's now slower than scarf'd base 80s and Timid Mega Sceptiles and Mega Beedrills his speed is nothing to laugh at in the slightest. Plays extremely straightforward, doesn't come out until the end unless there's a particularly nasty bulky water that needs removing. Love this guy to death, like Gyarados I'm not willing to remove him from the team altogether, but will change his moveset, EVs, and nature if needed.

Ban legend dairys (Entei) @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Sacred Fire
- Stone Edge
- Iron Head

Enter one of the pokes that I'm more than willing to switch out. Entei was brought in really to help take care of steel types than anything else, and maybe break a few walls along the way as well. Honestly I've clicked nothing other than Extreme Speed and Sacred Fire with this guy, he's pretty straightforward. Entei regularly comes good and does his job well, but also at times leaves me hanging a bit, above all else I'd call him reliable but it feels like more could be done in the slot that this guy is occupying.

Hail to the king (Nidoking) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock

I love Nidoking. Nidoking is one of my favorite mons to use, and was one of the reasons why I decided to play UU in the first place along with a few other mons in he tier. Nidoking's job on the team is simple, get rocks up and then be an absolute pain at every opportunity, whether it's switching into Volt Switch, throwing out painful special attacks, or netting KOs with his just enough speed tier this guy is a very solid member of the team. All of that said though I'm up for switching him out, he's a great dynamic SR user who hits hard and can be a real pain for opponents, but his poor durability and good but not always good enough speed tier really hurt him. Willing to switch him out for something else if need be.

Norton Anti-Virus (Porygon-Z) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Trick

I'm sure at least one of you has been preparing to talk about my extreme weakness to Mega Aerodactyl and other pokes of that speed tier. Porygon-Z is literally only on this team to hit that speed tier. This guy really only ever shows why he's on the team when something like Mega Aero or Mega Bee is around, and other than that only ever seems to drop in the occasional help with Tri Attack or Trick. I like Porygon-Z, but there has to be a better way to deal with these guys than just slap this guy in on the end.

As stated in the Porygon-Z analysis, Mega Aerodactyl and anything near it's speed tier is a huge threat, and I need some kind of better way to deal with them than E-Speed Entei and Scarf'd P-Z the latter of which feels more slapped on than a part of the team at times.

Next is Cresselia, specifically it's SubCM set which can be absolutely devastating. Currently my only responses are to throw in Mandibuzz if for some reason it isn't running Moonblast and wear it down with Taunt and Foul Play, or otherwise send in Entei to just throw pain at it until Entei dies and something else can potentially finish it off.

Another thing that I believe needs addressing is that I personally prefer Rapid Spin > Defog as currently I have a SR setter who isn't extremely durable, and if I need to clear hazards late in the game I have to sacrifice my rocks to do so which is a pain when sometimes Mega Sceptile or Gyarados would really like just a touch more prior damage on the other team.
So there it is, don't have a name for this team altogether, but that'll come in time I guess. Anyway, please drop any help you can offer in below and it'll be greatly appreciated. Take them for a spin if you want, all I ask is that if you come up with any sicker names that I be notified as soon as possible.

Hey there, the team looks good with the rising GyaraTile combo and nice wall breaking support from Nidoking and Entei. I have some recommendations that will hopefully help you out:

Nidoking, like you said, isn't the best SR setter. You're better off running Superpower over Stealth Rock to lure Sceptile checks like Umbreon and fat normals. Naive over Timid nature is the next logical change to avoid dropping your Attack.

Since we removed Stealth Rock on Nidoking, we need to find a new mon to use it, and you noticed an Aero/Bee weakness. Stealth Rock SD Cobalion over Mandibuzz helps check both threats while providing a much more reliable Rocker, as well as a more reliable Normal type + Umbreon killer (which beats both Gyarados and Sceptile). Shuca Berry is the best item to run here to avoid getting hit by Aero's EQ or Beedrill's Drill Run on the switch.

Nidoking and Cobalion handle the fairies and steels that plague Sceptile, so having Entei is redundant. Charti Berry Defog Zapdos over Entei gives us hazard removal as well as the ability to lure the biggest threat to the team in Mega Aero and hit it with a powerful Thunderbolt. A moveset of Tbolt / HP Ice to hit opposing Nidos (no switch ins) and Dragons with Defog + Roost, and a spread of 248 HP / 152 Def / 28 SpD / 80 Spe to avoid the 2HKO from Sceptile's Dragon Pulse could work. The speed creeps adamant Gatr.

Lastly, Specs > Scarf on Porygon-Z is always better and Jolly > Adamant on Gyarados is a must to outpace Mamo, Chandelure, as well as M-Sceptile and Bee at +1.

So I've beentrying these guys out and so far very good! I love Cobalion and he's been a great help, getting rocks up consistently throughout games without much trouble, Porygon-Z is just smashing faces now and making life hell whenever possible, and Nidoking is doing much better now that he doesn't need to come in as much to try and force something out and get rocks up. Zapdos has honestly been a bit shaky, but I'm not sure if that's its terrible luck with getting frozen and eating repeated crits or not so I still want to see how he does. Thanks for the help man!
