Good teams from D/P Games only?

I havent been playing this in a while and i suddenly got interested in diamond and pearl and i want to get involved with the wifi battling. anyway what i want to know is if i can get good competetive teams without having to trade pokes back from the older carts or better yet using only one version od d/p?. Reason is because i dont have money to spend on games. I know pokes like blissey and metgross,ttar ect i can get in the game but are staples from older games like zapdos,celebi,jirachi, and suicune needed?Obviously i wont have one team ill use forever so yeah
 
It's entirely possible to make a good team using only one DP game, mostly due to the fact that there's so many Pokemon available. Previous generation starters, legends and ubers are the only unobtainable Pokemon. Plus a few version exclusives.

You will miss out on some of the Pokemon you mentioned and you need ADV move tutors to get certain things (Seismic Toss on Blissey, for example). I've planned a team that requires only a copy Diamond and no trading at all.
 
Ok thanks for the help i guess. Ill start planning teams if it helps. Cant decide over salamence or tyranitar tho. Im tilting over to diamond because of its better fossil poke(that pearl fossil defense is wasted,4x weak to ground and fighting is a waste of all that def.)
 
There's also Wi-Fi trading so you have plenty of opportunities to get version exclusive Pokemon.
 
Actualy, as version exclusives, im leaning more towards Pearl, Slowbro, Tyranitar and Houndoom.

But im going to get Diamond most likely (gona make a Ingmae Sizor BP team)
 
With wifi and the GTS, the version you get does not matter at all unless you care about the stylus. I have pearl atm and I aquired every diamond exclusive within the first week I purchased the game. I have 7 Dialgas because of the GTS.

Sorry to let you down but Diamond gets T-tar, Pearl gets Mence. At least you'll get T-tar and Scizor together (just no Slowbro).
