[SET]
name: AV Regen
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Sludge Wave/Sludge Bomb
move 4: Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Hydro Pump
item: Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
evs: 252 HP/4 SPA/252 SPDEF
[SET COMMENTS]
AV Regen Goodra is an excellent special defense tank due to it's incredibly high SPDEF, decent hp, and naturally good SPA and on top of that it has very good coverage. It's amazing SPDEF allows it to wall some of the special attackers in the metagame like Desolate Land Chandelure, Primordial Sea Inteleon, Any form of Special Kommo-o or Genesect, and etc. It's excellent type coverage allows it to hit many threats on either a switch-in or any mons that don't threaten it if they stay in Draco Meteor and Fire Blast are used over Dragon Pulse and Flamethrower as they get crucial KOs that are often missed like Kommo-o or Genesect. Sludge Wave and Sludge Bomb are interchangeable depending on if you want more power or if you want the higher poison chance. The final slot is dependent on what your team needs Ice Beam for Lando-T, Zapdos, or Tornadus, Thunderbolt for Toxapex, and Hydro Pump for Terrakion, Nihilego, and Fire Types that don't use Desolate Land.
This set pairs well with good physical walls as it has a naturally low DEF stat like Corviknight, Avalugg, Skarmory, and PhysDef Toxapex. It also pairs well with Magic Guard Mandibuzz as it deals with Goodra's two biggest problem: Psyshock and hazards, it also helps with Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Chansey, and AV Swampert. Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini checks like Corviknight and Desolate Land Heatran.
Checks and Counters
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
**Physical Attackers**: Most physical attackers can easily OHKO Goodra most commonly Terrakion and Lando-T.
**Item Removal**: While tricking Goodra a specs wouldn't be too much of a problem, tricking it a scarf or band or knocking it can be a problem especially against Expanding Force and Moon last.
**Status**: Toxic and Burn are devastating to this mon and neuter it's ability to wall many mons it usually comes in on with ease.
**Tapu Lele**: Tapu Lele is Goodra's biggest problem as Moonblast often two hit KOs and Psyshock destroys Goodra and while it can't switch in on a poison move very well it can usually get it with ease on a pivot move.
