SM OU Goonies

I really like cutesy pokemon and just got back into the playing showdown so I'm playing with whole set against some of my friends. A lot of my Pokemon are hard counters to what they play but I want to make a more versatile team so I'm up for any suggestions. I called them the Goonies even though only 2 of them; Victini and Jirachi; really fit that bill since I switch them in and out of battle a lot to exploit weaknesses and as a result they end up not dying.
Also my bases for this team was Deschutes Alexander the Great team so shout out to him for putting together the last 3 pokemon

Mimikyu @ Focus Sash
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Destiny Bond
- Play Rough
I really liked the reveal and concept of this Pokemon like a lot of other people did. I like the set, its basic but it does the job. The Destiny bond is very useful for when I think my pokemon is going down and is why I pumped up his speed so he can get it in. My friends play stall teams so this ruins their day.
Mega_Pinsir (1).png

Pinsir-Mega @ Pinsirite
Ability: Aerilate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Quick Attack
- Return
- X-Scissor
- Close Combat
I wanted a nice high damage output pokemon. He has a priority move to finish up his prey or get the revenge kill, and the rest of his moveset is to cover bases and max out damage output.
Tapu_Fini.png

Tapu Fini @ Grip Claw
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Moonblast
- Toxic
- Whirlpool
This is a stall tank that traps the opponent. she works of the main engine of my team which are Victini and Jirachi since they get most of my KO's and a versatile moveset. I use this one to trap my enemy and reverse stall tactics.
a-ninetales.png

Ninetales-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 19 HP / 252 Atk / 237 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Tail
- Zen Headbutt
- Facade
- Ice Shard
A very useful revenge killer. I would like a different moveset but this is the most versatile one I could think of.
jirachi.png

Jirachi @ Choice Band
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Heart Stamp
- Thunder Punch
- Drain Punch
This one is a beast that flinches the crap out of my opponents. He has won me so many games, and I usually try to switch in and out of him quickly once I get the KO.
victini.jpg

Victini @ Assault Vest
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 153 HP / 228 Atk / 127 Spe
Adamant Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt
This precious Potato is a nuke that tears through most of my problems. I usually switch out after V-create and U-turn also makes him a good Pokemon to switch into and out of.

This team is heavily influenced by who I usually face and if it's complete crap I get it. I made it a day after getting back into the meta and would like for advice on how to switch out some members. The core Pokemon I really want to use are Jirachi and Victini on hot switching but other than that I'm open to changes. This team also has some major weaknesses due to certain types like steel, fire, and ground but honestly they haven't been much of an issue.

Hello Mr.Pokemon glad to hear you're getting back into showdown. I like the creativity you showed in making this team, but I'll be honest the end result is very subpar. I'll start by breaking down issues I have with each mon individually, and we'll proceed from there as the route I plan on taking is rather unorthodox. Focus Sash on Mimikyu is redundant when paired with Disguise, especially when you factor in hazards or potentially your own hail breaking the sash (I wouldn't count on fini as ultra reliable assuring no hazards for your sash, as its lack of recovery makes it fairly easy to wear down). Also not the biggest fan of Destiny Bond as it's unreliable + the Disguise from Mimikyu is usually enough for it to serve as a revenge killer in some fashion. I have no major complaint about M-Pinsir, except I prefer Earthquake to X-Scissor and I feel M-Pinsir needs Swords Dance to be effective in the meta. The Fini is just disgusting, I have no idea how you're using a slow bulkier mon with no recovery and no Taunt as a stall breaker especially when Trapping + Toxic is your main strategy even though Misty Terrain is fighting against your own Toxic vs many major stall threats. I honestly only see this set working against someone who is just randomly clicking buttons. the Ninetales set is also very bad, the only set Ninetales should be running in OU is Aurora Veil, it should not go near an offensive set - and a physical one at that. Band Jirachi is rather unusual, but better than some of your other sets. I typically prefer a more defensive set in the current meta, and I think it'll be difficult to make Banded Rachi work on a team. Finally we have Victini, while AV isn't an unheard of niche for Victini, I think it would be best to stick with offensive sets for now using an item that will boost Victini's power. It's simply more splashable and effective.

I'm sorry if that was a little blunt, but it's hard to sugar coat what needed to be said. I honestly feel the team is not salvageable as it currently stands as it's a mix of bad sets with no clear direction. However, I would like to try to help in some fashion. I saw your note about really wanting to use Rachi + Victini, which is doable. The two don't have the best synergy together in my opinion as they overlap a lot defensively and share weaknesses, but creating a team with the two of them is still achievable. I have no clear idea of what style you want to use, so I decided to make you a few laddering teams that will be workable low/mid ladder helping you get games quickly allowing you to get acquainted with the meta faster leading to you being able to build your own competent teams. I decided on hyper offensive teams, as it was the easiest styles to make that fit the mons you seem interested in, and they'll make for fast games meaning you'll be able see a larger sample size of what other mons people are using at a greater pace. Each team features a few mons from your original RMT (different sets), and while the teams probably aren't amazing as I threw them together quickly they should be an improvement from what you were using before.

The first team is a Veil team featuring Ninetales, Mimikyu, Jirachi, and Victini from the original squad. Team features standard Ninetales, the only you should be seeing in OU. Mimikyu is running a standard Life Orb set acting as a revenge killer and safety valve for the team. I actually went with a more defensive Jirachi set that provides the team with Stealth Rock, along with U-turn so it's not a total momentum drain, and Healing Wish to give you some room for error while piloting such an offensive squad. I went with a Z-Celebrate Victini as it is very volatile in the right match up and appreciates the Veil helping it take a turn to set up. M-Gyara provides the needed Dark Resist, Helps against Ash Gren which is a usual problem for HO, and has a good mu vs stall. Zygarde was the final addition as it really benefits from the Veil + gives the team a much needed Ground-type. Overall the team still has some issues to be worked out, but it's a decent starting point for someone learning the meta.

The next team is a Sticky Web team utilizing M-Pinsir, Jirachi, and Victini. Ribombee is the usual lead providing Webs while applying pressure/making sure nothing sets up against it thanks to Stun Spore. Sash Drill was chosen next as it gets Rocks, provides removal that keeps Webs up, and provides the team with a ground type. M-Pinsir was next, which simply deals a lot of damage, outside of a few resists not much wants to see this mon at +2 with a web up. I decided on Band Victini as I wanted to switch up the Tini + Rachi sets between teams and liked the power of Band tini coupled with webs up. The Jirachi should probably be switched with something else like Shift Gear Magearna for Viability sake, but for now we're running with a Z-Happy Hour set that uses the effective +2 speed tier after a boost + webs along with the gain in attack/bulk to make Rachi a pain to deal with. Serp was the final addition as it helps serve as a water and ground resist, discourages Defog, can snowball with Contrary Leaf Storm under webs, and SubSeed is still effective at wearing down things the team might not have an amazing answer for. Overall this team is also far from perfect, but it's a decent starting team for the ladder as you familarize yourself with the meta after your hiatus.

Hope these teams help in some way. Once again I apologize if I was a little harsh earlier on, there were just some pretty big flaws in the team. As mentioned neither of these teams are perfect, they should just be a starting point towards learning the meta, and a clue as to what kinds of sets some of the mons you chose actually like to run in the meta. If you've got more questions/concerns don't be afraid to reach out in the thread or pms, and don't be afraid to test some changes with these teams as there is definitely room for improvement.

Thanks for the response, it was very helpful and I don't mind the harshness. I would like to know how you what Pokemon would combo better off of Victini or Jirachi and how I could further change my team in order to get to a higher tier of play. Personally I'm a fan of switching and therefore would like to start utilizing abilities like flash fire and sap sipper, as well as regenerator. move wise I'd like to add a volt switcher as well as get better revenge killers for coverage. I really appreciate the advice and don't mind if you are super critical of the team.
