Supportive Trapper (Gothitelle) @ Covert Cloak / Safety Goggles
Level: 50
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 156 SpD
Tera Type: Dark
Calm Nature
- Fake Out
- Foul Play
- Taunt
- Helping Hand / Protect

Gothitelle's Shadow Tag and vast supportive movepool provide it with a unique niche in Regulation G, allowing its partners to take full advantage of lead matchups. Gothitelle utilizes Foul Play as its offensive move to threaten the Calyrex formes. Taunt helps Gothitelle trap and shut down support Pokemon like Amoonguss and Clefairy. Helping Hand can make up for Gothitelle's lack of offensive pressure; however, Protect can be used instead on Safety Goggles sets to protect against Fake Out. Covert Cloak protects Gothitelle from Fake Out, while Safety Goggles allows Gothitelle to ignore Spore and Rage Power from Amoonguss. The EV spread lets Gothitelle survive Flutter Mane's Choice Specs Shadow Ball and Adamant Koraidon's Flare Blitz, as well as avoid the 2HKO from Choice Specs Tera Starstorm from Terapagos-S. Tera Dark is used to grant Gothitelle a resistance to Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage, Incineroar's Knock Off, and Chi-Yu's Dark Pulse, as well as an immunity to Prankster Taunt from Tornadus. Tera Dark also boosts Foul Play, allowing Gothitelle to threaten an OHKO on Calyrex-S and +1 Attack Calyrex-I.

Gothitelle partners especially well with hyper offensive teams, as Shadow Tag makes it easier to remove crucial pieces from the opponent's team. This is especially prevalent with Koraidon, as Gothitelle prevents Pelipper from switching in and significantly weakening Koraidon. Gothitelle trapping Pokemon that struggle to threaten Koraidon like the Ogerpon formes also allows Koraidon to set up for a sweep through Flame Charge. Choice Specs Terapagos also appreciates Gothitelle, as Gothitelle can trap the opponent's Fake Out user and Taunt Amoonguss, minimizing issues for Terapagos throughout the game. Gothitelle can also utilize its own Fake Out to help Terapagos remove Urshifu-R, which is otherwise problematic. Raging Bolt can pick off Pokemon with Thunderclap and shut down special attackers with Snarl significantly easier thanks to Gothitelle's trapping. Gothitelle struggles with Flutter Mane and Pokemon that can pivot like Rillaboom and Incineroar, as it can't trap them and does minimal damage with Foul Play. The aforementioned Koraidon can remove all of these checks reliably.

Gothitelle's Shadow Tag and vast supportive movepool provide it with a unique niche in Regulation G, allowing its partners to take full advantage of lead matchups this reads weird but I can't think of an alternative. Keep it if you think it's right for you. Gothitelle utilizes Foul Play as its offensive move to threaten the Calyrex formes. Taunt helps Gothitelle trap and shut down support Pokemon like Amoonguss and Clefairy. Helping Hand can make up for Gothitelle's lack of offensive pressure, however, Protect can be used instead on Safety Goggles sets to protect against Fake Out. Covert Cloak protects Gothitelle from Fake Out, while Safety Goggles allows Gothitelle to ignore Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss. The EV spread lets Gothitelle survive Flutter Mane's Choice Specs Shadow Ball and avoid the 2HKO from Choice Specs Tera Starstorm from Terapagos-Stellar, as well as Adamant Koraidon's Flare Blitz 252+ Atk Orichalcum Pulse Koraidon Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 100 Def Gothitelle in Sun: 145-171 (81.9 - 96.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Sitrus Berry recovery, the phrasing makes it seems like you avoid the 2hko from this, put the koraidon calc next to the flutter calc and the terapagos calc last. Tera Dark is used to grant Gothitelle a resistance to Ghost- and Dark-type attacks, like just removing a bit of fluff/dex info Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage and Chi-Yu's Dark Pulse, as well as an immunity to Prankster Taunt from Tornadus. Tera Dark also boosts Foul Play, allowing Gothitelle to threaten an OHKO on Calyrex-S and +1 Attack Calyrex-I.

Gothitelle partners especially well with set up Pokemon Not a single goth team at LA was paired with a setup sweeper, unless flame charge koraidon counts., as they can use advantageous matchups to set up for a sweep. This is especially prevalent with Koraidon, as Gothitelle also prevents Pelipper from switching in and significantly weakening Koraidon,. ik this might be gp but whatever Zacian-C also appreciates Gothitelle are you sure about this? Only one terap zac team at LA in the top 256 (9-5 record), and zacian isn't even a setup sweeper on that team. Indy is the same except a 5-4 record rather than 9-5. , as Taunt prevents Incineroar from clicking Parting Shot, making Zacian-C's sweep significantly easier. Gothitelle struggles with Flutter Mane and Pokemon that can pivot like Choice Scarf Urshifu-R, Rillaboom, and Assault Vest Incineroar, as it can't trap them and does minimal damage with Foul Play. The aforementioned partners Koraidon and Zacian-C, can remove these threats reliably. gothitelle is mostly used on incredibly offensive teams, "setting up and sweeping" is a lot less aggressive than what goth teams aim to do. Out of 5 goth teams in day 2, 4 ran whims and the last one had choice scarf annilihape to take advantage of goth. Raging bolt may also be something to mentions, 8/9 goth teams in t256 LA had it and this pool seems to be where your info is coming from. Terapagos is also more worthy of a mention than Zacian and I think the 2nd paragraph needs a rethinking in how goth works.

Gothitelle can also utilize its own Fake Out to remove fake out doesn't remove ursh, it allows terap to remove ursh. Urshifu-R, which is otherwise problematic for Terapagos. Gothitelle's Shadow Tag and vast supportive movepool provide it with a unique niche in Regulation G, allowing its partners to take full advantage of lead matchups. (any specific good mus/mons that Goth can easily take advantage of with shadow tag? if not just leave it like this) Gothitelle utilizes Foul Play as its offensive move to threaten the Calyrex formes. Taunt helps Gothitelle trap and shut down support Pokemon like Amoonguss and Clefairy. Helping Hand can make up for Gothitelle's lack of offensive pressure, however, Protect can be used instead on Safety Goggles sets to protect against Fake Out. Tera Dark is used to grant Gothitelle a resistance to Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage and Chi-Yu's Dark Pulse (I'd argue incin is worthy of a mention, 4 Atk Incineroar Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 100 Def Gothitelle: 116-140 (65.5 - 79%) -- guaranteed 2HKO this is doing quite a bit), as well as an immunity to Prankster Taunt from Tornadus. Tera Dark also boosts Foul Play, allowing Gothitelle to threaten an OHKO on Calyrex-S and +1 Attack Calyrex-I.

Gothitelle partners especially well with hyper offensive teams, as Gothitelle can eliminate positioning and remove crucial pieces (I'd argue that you still need some positioning with goth, it doesnt entirely eliminate positioning. Also remove crucial pieces is kind just wrong, sounds like you're saying goth specifically eliminates the pieces, when in reality it enables its partner to do so.). This is especially prevalent with Koraidon, as Gothitelle prevents Pelipper from switching in and significantly weakening Koraidon. Koraidon can also utilize these turns to set up Flame Charge. (not really, peli+partner is still chunking it 252+ SpA Pelipper Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tera Fire Koraidon: 84-99 (48 - 56.5%) -- 84.8% chance to 2HKO) Choice Specs Terapagos also appreciates Gothitelle, as Gothitelle can trap their Fake Out user and Taunt Amoonguss, minimizing issues to Terapagos throughout the game. Gothitelle can also utilize its own Fake Out to help Terapagos remove Urshifu-R, which is otherwise problematic. Raging Bolt can pick off Pokemon with Thunderclap and shut down special attackers with Snarl significantly easier thanks to Gothitelle's trapping. making it a good partner. Gothitelle struggles with Flutter Mane (mention why) and Pokemon that can pivot like Rillaboom and Assault Vest (does normal incin not also pivot, or is there some interaction w/ shadow tag?) Incineroar, as it can't trap them and does minimal damage with Foul Play. The aforementioned Koraidon can remove all of these checks reliably.

Helping Hand can make up for Gothitelle's lack of offensive pressure; (semicolon) however, Protect can be used instead on Safety Goggles sets to protect against Fake Out. Covert Cloak protects Gothitelle from Fake Out, while Safety Goggles allows Gothitelle to ignore Spore and Rage Power from Amoonguss. The EV spread lets Gothitelle survive Flutter Mane's Choice Specs Shadow Ball and Adamant Koraidon's Flare Blitz, as well as avoid the 2HKO from Choice Specs Tera Starstorm from Terapagos-Stellar. Tera Dark is used to grant Gothitelle a resistance to Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage, Incineroar's Knock Off, and Chi-Yu's Dark Pulse, as well as an immunity to Prankster Taunt from Tornadus. Gothitelle partners especially well with hyper offensive teams, as Gothitelle can eliminate the opponent's positioning and make Shadow Tag makes it easier to remove crucial pieces from the opponent's team. (tag me in VGC discord @ sunny if this deviates too much from what you are trying to say and we can fix it tgt) This is especially prevalent with Koraidon, as Gothitelle prevents Pelipper from switching in and significantly weakening Koraidon. Gothitelle trapping Pokemon that struggle to threaten Koraidon like the Ogerpon formes also allows Koraidon to set up for a sweep through Flame Charge.
