[OVERVIEW]
Monferno is one of the best Fire-types in the tier and is the most versatile of them. Monferno's Speed, power, and coverage makes it an excellent Swords Dance sweeper that can overrun teams without sturdy Fire- and Fighting-type checks, backed up with options like Knock Off and Mach Punch. Monferno can also tap into its utility more to become an all-out attacker, becoming an elite pivot with U-turn while still having fast STAB moves and Knock Off to back it up. Lastly, its Nasty Plot sets are fantastic at luring physical walls anticipating physical sets. All of these traits make it a flexible attacker that can make it a great revenge killer or cleaner. Monferno, however, struggles against physical walls and Water-types like Koffing, Gabite, and Quaxwell without a moderate amount of team support. While Monferno's Speed tier is still good, it is still vulnerable to getting outpaced by faster foes like Girafarig and Frogadier. Lastly, Monferno faces competition over its other Fire-type brethren, facing Raboot's higher Speed and more diverse coverage and Pignite's Ground coverage and raw strength.

[SET]
Swords Dance (Monferno) @ Eviolite
Ability: Blaze / Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Flare Blitz
- Knock Off / Mach Punch

[SET COMMENTS]
Monferno's Speed, power, utility, and typing enable it to be one of the scariest sweepers in the tier. Swords Dance boosts Monferno's Attack to threatening levels, able to reach thresholds like 2HKOing Water-type checks like Quaxwell and Wartortle with +2 Close Combat and +2 Flare Blitz 2HKOing Koffing and physically defensive Clefairy. Knock Off weakens checks like the aforementioned Quaxwell and Koffing while easing setup late-game while also 2HKOing Drakloak after Stealth Rock. Mach Punch is an alternative to Knock Off through dealing significant damage to faster revenge killers like Frogadier, Girafarig, and Raboot. Blaze is the preferred ability to further heighten Monferno's Flare Blitz at low HP, though Iron Fist can be used to boost Mach Punch's power.

Monferno fits as a fantastic cleaner on offensive teams or as an offensive swiss-army knife in balanced builds. Water-types like Quaxwell and Mareanie can extinguish Monferno's sweep early with their excellent bulk; Grass-types like Thwackey, Servine, and Ivysaur are helpful to checking these threats. Revenge killers like Girafarig, Gabite, and Choice Specs Drakloak can outspeed and pick it off without much chip damage; defensive backbones like Tinkatuff and utility Dunsparce can be helpful in soaking up damage while accumulating progress with Stealth Rock and paralysis. Knock Off users like Ivysaur and Vullaby are immensely helpful for wearing down walls like Gabite and Koffing, enabling Monferno to sweep much easier. Other wallbreakers and cleaners, like Fraxure, Thwackey, and Girafarig, can take advantage of Monferno's breaking or help it clean themselves; Thwackey also provides useful healing and can reduce Earthquake damage with Grassy Terrain.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Slack Off can be run on any of its sets to provide longevity, though it loses out on important utility in Knock Off or U-turn in doing so. Choice Scarf sets outspeed the entire unboosted metagame, revenge killing faster foes like Girafarig, Raboot, and Frogadier. Monferno can even use Switcheroo to cripple walls like Quaxwell and Koffing. However, this set loses out on its flexibility and a lot of its bulk. Thunder Punch can be used to deal with Mareanie and deal more damage to Quaxwell and Wartortle, though this move is hard to fit over utility moves like Knock Off and U-turn.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Water-types**: Quaxwell and Mareanie are Monferno's most sturdy checks, able to survive any attacks with ease and retaliate with its STAB moves or progress against it with Rapid Spin and Toxic Spikes, respectively. Seadra's Poison Point can cripple Monferno with Poison. More offensive Water-types, like Wartortle and Frogadier, can similarly threaten Monferno out with their STAB attacks but have trouble switching in.

**Revenge Killers**: While Monferno's Speed tier is good, it still falls short of many faster threats and is vulnerable to being OHKOed or taking significant damage from them before attacking. Examples include Girafarig, Drakloak, and Raboot.

**Physical Walls**: Defensive behemoths like Koffing and defensive Gabite can stomach at least one of Monferno's attacks before retaliating with their STAB moves; Gabite is particularly dangerous with its STAB Earthquake and Rough Skin threatening to immediately end Monferno's sweep. Hattrem can threaten a KO after Stealth Rock, but hates switching into Knock Off. Fletchinder resists both of Monferno's STAB moves and U-turn and can threaten it out with STAB Brave Bird, while Clefairy can threaten Thunder Wave and chip it down with Night Shade, with both walls able to use their recovery to heal off accumulated damage.

start off the sentence by mentioning why monferno does well as a swords dance sweeper like because of its typing, coverage, etc. Swords Dance boosts Monferno's Attack to threatening levels, able to reach thresholds like 2HKOing Water-type checks like Quaxwell and Wartortle with +2 Close Combat and +2 Flare Blitz 2HKOing Koffing and physically defensive Clefairy. mention what teams monferno works best on and the role is fulfills for them. Water-types like Quaxwell and Mareanie can extinguish Monferno's sweep early with their excellent bulk; Grass-types like Thwackey, Servine, and Ivysaur are helpful to checking these threats. Revenge killers like Girafarig, Gabite, and Choice Specs Drakloak can outspeed and pick it off without much chip damage; defensive backbones like Tinkatuff and utility Dunsparce can be helpful in soaking up damage while accumulating progress with Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave (i would just say paralysis infliction since dunsparce doesnt use twave).

[OVERVIEW]
Monferno is one of the best Fire-types in the tier and is the most versatile of them. Monferno's Speed, power, and coverage makes make it an excellent Swords Dance sweeper that can overrun teams without sturdy Fire- and Fighting-type checks, backed up with options like Knock Off and Mach Punch. Monferno can also tap into its utility more to become an all-out attacker, becoming an elite pivot with U-turn while still having fast STAB moves, (AC) (a move can't be fast intrinsically) and Knock Off, (AC) and good Speed to back it up. Lastly, its Nasty Plot sets are fantastic at luring physical walls anticipating its physical sets. All of these traits (Are you describing Monferno's traits or its set versatility, which is enabled by such traits? It sounds like you're actually referring to the latter due to this sentence's placement.) make it a flexible attacker that can make it be a great revenge killer or cleaner. Monferno, however, struggles against physical walls and Water-types like Koffing, Gabite, and Quaxwell without a moderate amount of team support. While Monferno's Speed tier is still good, it is still vulnerable to getting outpaced by faster foes like Girafarig and Frogadier. Lastly, Monferno faces competition over from its other (redundant) Fire-type brethren, facing as it has (avoids repetition of "face") neither Raboot's higher Speed and more diverse coverage and nor Pignite's Ground Ground-type coverage and raw strength.

[SET COMMENTS]
Monferno's Speed, power, utility, and typing enable it to be one of the scariest sweepers in the tier. Swords Dance boosts Monferno's Attack to threatening levels, able to reach thresholds ("reach thresholds" seems a bit redundant with "boosts...to threatening levels") like 2HKOing enabling Close Combat to 2HKO Water-type checks like Quaxwell and Wartortle with +2 Close Combat and +2 as well as letting Flare Blitz 2HKOing 2HKO Koffing and physically defensive Clefairy. (Reworded to better clarify which move KOes which Pokemon, also removed "+2" because Swords Dance already implies a boost. Please let me know if there's a mistake.) Knock Off weakens checks like the aforementioned Quaxwell and Koffing while easing setup late-game; (ASC) it while (avoids repetition of "while) also 2HKOing 2HKOes Drakloak after Stealth Rock. Mach Punch is an alternative to Knock Off through dealing that deals significant damage to faster revenge killers like Frogadier, Girafarig, and Raboot. Blaze is the preferred ability to further heighten Monferno's Flare Blitz at low HP, though Iron Fist can be used to boost Mach Punch's power.

Monferno fits as a fantastic cleaner on offensive teams or as an offensive swiss-army Swiss Army knife in balanced builds. Water-types like Quaxwell and Mareanie can extinguish Monferno's sweep early with their excellent bulk; Grass-types like Thwackey, Servine, and Ivysaur are helpful to checking check these threats. Knock Off users like Ivysaur and Vullaby are immensely helpful for wearing down walls like Gabite and Koffing, enabling Monferno to sweep much easier more easily. Other wallbreakers and cleaners, like Fraxure, Thwackey, and Girafarig, can take advantage of Monferno's breaking wallbreaking or help it clean themselves; Thwackey also provides can provide (reworded for consistency, you can also do "provides...and reduces" if that's what you prefer) useful healing and can reduce Earthquake Earthquake's damage with Grassy Terrain.

Slack Off can be run on any of its Monferno's sets to provide longevity, though it loses they lose out on important utility in Knock Off or U-turn in by doing so. A Choice Scarf sets outspeed set outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame, revenge killing faster foes like Girafarig, Raboot, and Frogadier; (RP, ASC) (I'm assuming Switcheroo is an option for the Scarf set, so I joined the sentences together.) Monferno it can even use Switcheroo to cripple walls like Quaxwell and Koffing. However, this set loses out on its Monferno's flexibility and a lot of its bulk the bulk gained from Eviolite. (Is this what you're referring to? The original phrasing is vague otherwise.) Thunder Punch can be used to deal with Mareanie and deal more damage to Quaxwell and Wartortle, though this move is hard to fit over a utility moves move like Knock Off and or U-turn.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Water-types**: Quaxwell and Mareanie are Monferno's most sturdy checks, able to survive any attacks with ease and retaliate with its their STAB moves or make progress against it with Rapid Spin and Toxic Spikes, respectively. Seadra's Poison Point can cripple Monferno with poison. (This is just dex info, can you elaborate more on how Seadra's poison cripples Monferno?) More offensive Water-types, like Wartortle and Frogadier, can similarly threaten Monferno out with their STAB attacks but have trouble switching in.

**Revenge Killers**: While Monferno's Speed tier is Monferno has good Speed, (changed subject of this clause to "Monferno" so that it's consistent with the main clause) it still falls short of many faster threats and is vulnerable to being OHKOed or taking significant damage from them before attacking. Examples of such threats (clarity on what type of examples) include Girafarig, Drakloak, and Raboot.

**Physical Walls**: Defensive behemoths like Koffing and defensive Gabite can stomach at least one of Monferno's attacks before retaliating with their STAB moves; Gabite is particularly dangerous, (AC) with its STAB Earthquake and Rough Skin threatening to immediately end Monferno's sweep. Hattrem can threaten a KO after Monferno takes Stealth Rock damage, but it hates switching into Knock Off. Fletchinder resists both of Monferno's STAB moves and U-turn and can threaten it out with STAB Brave Bird, while Clefairy can threaten Thunder Wave and chip it down with Night Shade. (RC, AP) (splitting up sentence in two due to length) with both Both walls able to use their also have a recovery move to heal off accumulated damage.
