SM OU Grass Rain Team

Hello all! Trying my hand at making a Gen 7 Pokebank OU team, maybe the second team i ever really made :p. I would appreciate any feedback as how to improve this team :) .

My goal was to try make a rain team that is as versatile as possible handling as many different types of teams as it can. I do have self imposed rules of trying to run at most 2 legendary pokemon/ Ultra Beasts and following the item clause.

What I ended up with is my take on a balanced team, slightly on the defensive side. The strategy revolves around Tapu Bulu's grassy terrain and Pelipper's rain to keep things alive and healthy. Mega Venasuar and Tapu Bulu are my main damage dealers, Pelliper is Support, Magnezone and Alola Marowak handle come checks, and finally Ash Greninja is for sweeping in the late game.

Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 64 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Defog
- U-turn
- Roost

The rain setter and support of the team. Depending on team preview I dont always bring him out first, especially if there are many Steel Types on the opposing team. Getting the rain up is part of my insurance to protect Mega Venasaur, Tapu Bulu, and Magnezone from fire attacks. Defog is useful in clearing out stealth rocks, and U-turn makes a VoltTurn combo with Magnezone.

Tapu Bulu @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Megahorn

The terrain setter and team nuker. Tapu Bulu sets up grass so my entire team (bar pelliper) starts getting extra passive healing which makes them harder to take down. Plus i feel it syncs well with Mega Vensaur giving Venasaur not only stronger Giga Drains but a ridiculous amount of sustain. Other than that I use Tapu Bulu to try and knock some holes in teams or surprise Superpower a steel type :D .

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 232 HP / 180 Def / 80 SpD / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Leech Seed

Mega Vensaur is the Pokemon I probably rely the most heavily on. With rain and grassy terrain, he becomes a headache to take down (especially with synthesis and leech seed). He is also my go to Fairy Killer, bar Tapu Lele. Similar to Tapu Bulu, I use him to create holes in the opponents team, just much more slowly. He is also useful in destroying opposing grass types.

Magnezone @ Assault Vest
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SpA / 128 Spe
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon
- Thunder

Magnezone is here purely because steel types (mostly skarmory) would be damn near impossible for me otherwise. Since it still is a rain team I run thunder instead of thunderbolt. Flash Cannon is there as additional back up to kill off fairies. I decided to run Assault Vest because I wanted him to last as long as possible. It also makes a VoltTurn combo with Pelipper.

Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Shadow Bone
- Earthquake
- Flare Blitz
- Stealth Rock

Alolan Marowak is here to guard against Electric Attacks as well as provide Both Ghost and Ground coverage. Flare Blitz is there to take care of any steel types my magnezone couldnt handle or as a back-up killer to a grass type I couldnt take down. Being ghost type is also just so damn useful between staving off high jump kicks or just plain blocking off normal attacks.

Greninja @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Water Shuriken
- Dark Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- U-turn

Lastly is Ash Greninja. I use him to come in on psychic attacks aimed at Mega Venusaur or just scouting out early with a fast U-turn. He is the end game sweeper for me. Hopefully, if the others did well, the opposing team would have very few things left to stand in the way of Ash-Greninja Water Shurikens or Dark Pulses. I would also try to transform him early with rain boosted hydro pumps.

And that's it! Again I'm looking forward to reading feedback and improvements I can make. Thanks for all your help guys!

Hi man !
I don't get why you use Damp Rock on Pelipper although your team pretty much gains nothing from rain. Why not Kingdra as a late game sweeper instead of Greninja? It's going to outspeed any Scarfed Pokemon except Scarfed Pheromosa, which is a must for a late game sweeper imho. Or if you want to keep Greninja, I think that you should put Leftovers on Pelipper instead. Cheers !
