Grey's Sandy Journey

Hey Guys, PkmonTrainer Grey back again with another RMT, this time based around a Sand Team, note I made this team in about 10-15 Minutes like my last RMT, tested it out, and it's done much more success than my Random Rain Team. Also, I'll try to put 2 RMT's Bi-Weekly so I don't lose out on any tips here.
Without further ado, let's introduce my Sand Vintage Team.

Boas! (Tyranitar) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 160 SDef / 96 Sp.Atk
Sassy Nature (+Sp.Def, -Speed)
-
Stealth Rock
-
Fire Blast
-
Ice Beam/Pursuit
-
Stone Edge
Well now, since I’ve been seeing Mix-Tar for quite some time while playing in the OU Tier, I decided to try this thing out myself and see how it works. Honestly, I’ve done some crazy predictions to my opponents that cause them for a rage quit, but Mix-Tar in my opinion is VERY hard to control.
-Stealth Rocks are pretty much standard on this Mix-Tar as I’ve been seeing for some time. Though I’ve been having thoughts of letting Heatran carry Stealth Rocks and then give Pursuit to Tyranitar to help out with Latwin trapping.
-Fire Blast is amazing to have on this Beast of a Pkmon. Ferro, Gene, Skarm and company never see it coming at times, and causes some amazing damage to them, sometimes even OHKOing Ferro and Gene, sometimes Scizor if I get the prediction picture perfect.
-Ice Beam is great to have as well, I use it over pursuit because I don’t have many solid checks to Dragon Types, as Heatran isn’t fully capable of handling those God-Sended Dragons at times due to its low speed. I’ve gathered some amazing Damage vs Dragons and T-Tar’s natural bulk with Max HP Investment helps it take and EQ from most Dragons, barring Dragonite.
-Stone Edge is the only STAB move my T-Tar actually has, it’s pretty much a standard Mix-Tar when you come to see it, but it’s hard to control, and I can see why Mix-Tar has become much more usable in the new BW 2 OU Tier. Stone Edge, if predicted correctly and lands, can cause some devastating damage to opposing Pkmon and possibly OHKO if a Crit somehow lands.

Eon (Vaporeon) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 200 SDef / 56 Def
Calm Nature (+Sp.Def, -Atk)
-
Toxic/Heal Bell
-
Scald
- Wish
- Protect

Typically the Standard Vaporeon used for mainly Rain Teams, but as I don’t like Jellicent so much, and decided to be weird, Vaporeon could do the same thing as Jellicent, only with the added bonus of Cleric + Wish Passer OR Toxic Staller + Wish Passer. Heal Bell heals my status, though it hinders me at times with Gliscor’s Poison Heal Ability, losing out on a free turn on Healing is hurtful, but a predicted switch in and Gliscor is back to its Healing days. The rest of the move set, is pretty much standard, but is very invaluable towards my team.

LavaToad<3 (Heatran) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Sp.Atk / 4 Sp.Def
Timid Nature (+Speed, -Atk)
-
Fire Blast/Lava Plume
-
Earth Power
-
Hidden Power Ice
-
Toxic/Will-O-Wisp
The Lave-Toad known as Heatran makes his first appearance in my team since my MetalKid League (MK League) Elite 4 Spot days. Back then, I had it as a complete offensive powerhouse/crippler.
-Fire Blast has amazing power, and is very much the best move I can use on Heatran in terms of STAB and Raw Power. Heatran is also my check to many things such as Genesect and friends. Though I hate facing Scarf Genesects because of the fact they can Outspeed me and POP the Balloon, in retaliation, put someone to take the hit, and eventually predict a Genesect Switch in to burn it down. If I opt to, I’ll use Lava Plume instead being that it has a 30% Chance to Burn the opposing Pkmon trying to tank it. So I lose about 40 Base Power, but the Burn aftermath could be helpful towards the end of a match (especially if I cripple a physical sweeper with it).
Earth Power is meant to counter opposing Heatrans and since most I face are Ballooned as well, all I do is hit with HP Ice, then smack them around with Earth Power because people are stupid enough to Set up rocks sometimes instead of Attacking and smacking my Heatran down before anything. It's a truck hitter, why don't people get it? Kill Heatran asap, though it's my favorite Balloon User :3
Hidden Power Ice is just amazing, I love the fact I can use it on many Dragons namely Dnite, Sally, and company. Not to mention Torn-T because it can't do anything to Heatran without a Ground Atk.
The last slot, since T-Tar carries Stealth Rock, I carry Toxic most of the time, if opt to, I'll switch it for Will-O-Wisp to give it the same niche I gave it with my E4 Team in the MK League, crippling and overpowering other Pkmon.

Core (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 Def / 160 HP / 96 Sp.Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -Sp.Atk)
-
Toxic
- Substitute
- Protect
-
Earthquake
Haha, Batty Days man, Batty Days, the Standard Toxic Stalling Gliscor likewise to Vaporeon, but still an Invaluable member to my team, if I predict and play well enough, this baby can legitly stall out a massive amount of threats to my team. Even slow Bulky Water Types if I get the prediction picture perfect. In terms of Toxic Stalling, tanking shots from a Terrakion and regular Ground Immunity, Gliscor is the Bat for the Job.
The EV Spread is weird, but it very well works out for me. I like having Max Defense with near max HP. I don’t like to outspeed with Gliscor, being that I can easily set up another Sub in front of my opponents face after they break my Current one during the Toxic Stalling Phase.

Red! (Latias) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Speed / 160 Sp.Atk / 96 HP
Timid Nature (+Speed, -Atk)
- Recover
-
Ice Beam
-
Draco Meteor/Dragon Pulse
-
Grass Knot/Hidden Power Fire
The Special Attacking Latias is amazing to have on this team, that much I can’t lie about, I was skeptical at first, but Latias has pulled its own weight around battles. Especially if it happens to be a Gastrodon, which I start to see more often now a days.
-Recover is basically the use for it’s Added Vatility in battles, once I take enough damage, recover it off and continue the assault on the opposing Pkmon.
-Ice Beam is naturally used on Latias for obvious reasons, taking down Non-Scarfed Sallys, and D-Nites (barring Multiscale) for the fun of it, as well as other pkmon weak to Ice Type attacks.
-Draco Meteor is pretty much an All or Nothing move, if I fail to KO the opposing Pkmon, then I 50% Likely have to switch out and the opponent gets a free turn to recoperate from the attack. Whereas Dragon Pulse may be much less of damage output, it doesn’t carry the burden of lowering Latias’ Special Atk by 2 Stages. Henceforth why I prefer using Dragon Pulse nowadays.
-Grass Knot over Hidden Power Fire is extremely weird honestly, but like I have nothing to smack Gastrodons around with, what else can I do? Most are specially defensive, but Grass Knot would still do 35%+ Damage to them, easily forming a 2-3HKO. Should I run Hidden Power Fire, it’d be helpful with an extra Pkmon who can deal with Genesects, the main problem for that would have to making the right prediction most of the time.

Ouch Bro): (Genesect) @ Choice Band
Trait: Download
EVs: 252 Speed / 252 Atk / 4 Sp.Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp.Atk)
-
U-Turn
-
Iron Head
- Explosion
-
X-Scissor
Now for the main attraction, the Bug who is commonly known as Special Sect, Rain Sect, Life Orb Sect, or SP Sect. Now comes in with an unorthadox set I pretty much borrwed from a friend (sshhhh, don’t tell him anything yet). Physical Banded Genesect hits so hard, probably even Harder than a Scizor with the downside of NO PRIORITY.
-U-Turn, should I get an Atk Boost from Download, this Turn, will make you wish you were facing a Standard Genesect. As it deal a truck load of damage even to Heatran, with a Crit, this Turn would hit 40% Damage, and that’s something for a Genesect to Brag about with a ¼ Effective move towards Heatran. As for Dark Types and Psychic Types, they won’t appreciate this Genesect running them over like a Truck.
-Iron Head is another move for STAB, with the possibility of Flinching, so why not give it a whirl. It can be used for mostly ramming objects to oblivion when they realize too little too late that Genesect has been Banded.
-Explosion pretty much gives Genesect the last ditch suicide technique to go out with a BANG! If give the Atk Boost, this will do so much more than a Super Effective U-Turn or X-Scissor to the face. I really won’t use it until I despretly have the need to Nerf something in its face.
-X-Scissor is a filler move, if I don’t feel like switching out, and I know this Attack would smack around a Pkmon in 1-2 Hits, then why not use it to Smack around.
That's the team for you. If you like this team, Luvdisc it, and if anyone want's to try this team out for themselves, you can use it :)
But someone should teach me how to make Import's of teams so I can do that for future RMT's.

Any suggestions like last time, is fine by me, I'll test them out and see how it works out.
I know my biggest flaw here is not having a Spinner, but it's something I had to give up to play the way I love to play.

Your team doesn't carry any scarfer / priority, thus making you easy prey for fast powerhouses. Tornadus-T, in particular, can hit everything hard with Hurricane, OHKO Tyranitar with Superpower (and dealing solid damage to Heatran - 67% minimum, which sounds like a 2HKO after Rocks), and U-Turn out if it doesn't feel like staying in on Latias / Vaporeon. If it carries Taunt in the last moveslot it's even nastier, since it prevents your Gliscor and Vaporeon from statusing and can take advantage of them easily U-Turning to an appropriate counter. A way to solve this problem is to remove your Vaporeon and use a Specially Defensive Rotom-W. Rotom-W doesn't care about Hurricane at all thanks to its typing and awesome special defense, and can hit back hard with STAB Volt Switch. Also, it would form a VoltTurn duo with Genesect, and we all know ho much that combination is annoying (think Scizor + Rotom-W, it's pretty similar). Rotom has no problem to absorb powerful Water attacks, and Pain Split greatly aids in recovering damage while being an annoyance for the opponent.

Rotom-W @ Leftovers | Levitate
Calm | 252 HP / 32 SpA / 224 SpD
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Now, while Tornadus is quite handled, you still have some problems against fast threats like +1 Dragonite / Salamence, Shell Smash Cloyster and such things, if they can set up somehow. I really think you should add a Scarf user to deal with such problems, and Scarf Latias can be a good idea while not altering your team too much. It will also let you gain something similar to Wish passing in Healing Wish, that can help immensely while trying to win a weather war and having your TTar burned and on low health. Other than that, Latias is unique as scarfer since it can still cushion many Special blows and hit back, possibly taking the opponent by surprise thanks to its blazing speed.

Latias @ Choice Scarf | Levitate
Timid | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire
- Healing Wish

Another couple of little observations. Your Gliscor EV spread is inefficient - not maxing HP is not good, as I already pointed out replying to your previous RMT. That advice is valid even for your current Gliscor. Also, you could consider running Zen Headbutt instead of X-Scissor on Genesect. It hits hard Fighting types and Keldeo, which would otherwise wall you bar Explosion. Another option is to run a Special move and use Naughty as a nature: Ice Beam can threaten Gliscor, which otherwise wall the set comfortably, while Flamethrower / Thunderbolt hits Skarmory / Magnezone / Politoed.

Hope I helped. Good luck for your team.

Thanks for the rate, I forgot about the EV Spread thing on Gliscor but I'll fix that right away. I'll definitely try out the Scarf Latias variant, maybe with Modest and Scarf to help ease its troubles. An as for Vaporeon switching out for Rotom-W, I don't 100% agree to that because then I lose out on Wish Passing, and I've actually faced Torn-T various times and ground my way around it. I think Taunt would be something that is rarely seen on Torn-T.
But thanks for the help :) Scarf Latias will be a wierd Pkmon but I'm sure it can carry its own weight. Gliscor's EV Spread will be fixed, I forgot about that tweak lol.
But I'll try to carry Rotom-W and see how it works, if it doesn't appeal to my liking in the team, then I'll switch back into Vaporeon, as the Wish Support is very, very essential to my team.

I like this team for some odd reason. Luvdisc'ed. :)

Should also mention, I suggest ChoiceScarf Genesect over CB Genesect to outpace alot of this teams threats. Aside from that, great team.

I like the Idea for Scarf-Gene, but I barely have any Physical Attackers, so I opt'd for Band-Sect and its a Game Changer for sure :) and thanks for the Luvdisc :3
