Grimmsnarl @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spirit Break
- Scary Face
- Light Screen
- Reflect

Grimmsnarl neutralizes its foes in Doubles OU, setting up dual screens and lowering opposing special attackers' offensive prowess with Spirit Break. Dual screens work nicely in longer games, providing an extra layer of defense to push the odds into Grimmsnarl's favor. Additionally, Spirit Break hits Pokemon such as Roaring Moon and Chien Pao hard. Grimmsnarl carries Scary Face for speed control against the likes of Landorus and Ogerpon-W. Tera Ghost gives Grimmsnarl immunities to Fake Out, compensating for its lack of Protect, as well as Dragonite's Extreme Speed. The EV spread allows it to survive a Tera Normal Extreme Speed from Choice Band Dragonite while under the effect of Sword of Ruin. Bulky setup Pokemon like Gholdengo and Swords Dance Iron Hands work perfectly alongside Grimmsnarl, appreciating the protection under dual screens while pressuring threats to it such as Gholdengo, Glimmora, and Iron Crown. Sinistcha is another great addition, as it can heal up said setup Pokemon, letting them stay healthy and sweep teams easier when they are paired with dual screens.

this feels pretty light overall, the point about tera ghost just to immediately say it's unnecessary is pretty weird. grimmsnarl is cool because the meta has gotten slower and bulkier, and it enables your bulky setup pokemon like swords dance or focus energy ogerpon, sd iron hands, substitute landorus, and np gholdengo to boost up and sweep opposing teams. i would also like to see sinistcha mentioned as a way to heal these pokemon under screens. scary face letting you slow down and smack landoi and the ogerpons is a pretty big deal for teams operating at this pace as well. offensively, it threatens a lot of damage on roaring moon and chien pao which is definitely worth a mention. would like to see you take another stab at this and ping me when updated

-feel like kingambit and especially ursaluna are pretty uncommon setup options here, again would recommend guys like swords dance iron hands or nasty plot gholdengo/moltres-galar
-would like some sort of emphasis on screens' damage reduction being impactful in the longer, grindier games we're seeing more of in the current metagame

Light Clay allows Grimmsnarl's Light Screen and Reflect to stay up for longer during drawn out battles.
