Hail my team...again...

I made a RMT earlier and got some good advice and I changed it a little bit. I thought how it was previously was quite good, but now it's even better. I just want to know what you guys think and if you had any further suggestions.

=====================================================

dpmfa460.png

Abomasnow:@Leftovers
Ev's: 252 HP, 40 SpA, 216 SpD
Ability: Snow Warning
Nature: Sassy
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Focus Punch
- Blizzard
The Ev spread to 252 HP, 40 SpA, 216 SpD Abomasnow's purpose on a hail team is to wall the ever-common Water / Ice or Electric/Ice combinations used by the likes of Suicune, Starmie, Cressilia, Magnezone, Raikou and a counter to the metagame's many walls.
dpmfa073.png

Tentacruel (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 204 HP/36 Spd/96 SAtk/172 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Blizzard
- Surf
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes

If the pokemon is using a fire attack on my Abomasnow when he used protect, I switch to this guy most of the time. Surf as a useful stab move, often good against starting heatrans and infernapes. Heatran's earth power cannot 2HKO this guy, so if he does use earth power, I'll still be fine. Rapid spin saves me from those pesky stealth rocks that half of my team is weak to. Toxic Spikes helps immensly with this team as one of my pokemon is very good at stalling. So this guy is a sp. wall with utility that can do some immense damage to pokemon that are weak against its attacks.

This guy takes care of special attackers that use fire attacks, most namely heatran, one of the bigger threats to this team, and blizzard can OHKO dragons, but it can do immense damage to Zapdos which a thunderbolt cannot OHKO this person. Zapdos is also a great threat for this team for being ablel to use both heatwave and thunderbolt, which 5/6 of my team is weak against, and if it carries HP Ice, than 6/6 would be weak against that zapdos :( I was thinking of replacing one of the attacks with sludge bomb, but it has been only a few times when I wished I had sludge bomb availalable, so I probably won't. He's useful against guys like lucario and infernape as they normally don't damage this guy very much and their defenses usually aren't that good.

Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Fang

Physical wall for my team. Helpful if the weather turns into sandstorm. Stealth rocks along with toxic spikes from tentacruel helps.

This guy is very helpful against quick physical attackers. People like lucario and infernape who are moderate threats. Most namely however, I have fire fang to counter another great threat which is Scizsor and his pesky bullet punches. Fire fang usually does at leats 1/3 damage to scizor, so it often forces him to switch out or die.

dpmfa365.png

Walrein (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
EVs: 220 HP/244 Def/46 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Blizzard
- Protect
- Substitute
- Roar

This is my stalling guy. Someone suggested it, and whoever came up with this is quite a clever person. With this EV spread, I have 416 HP, so a sub will have 104 HP. After I use a sub, I'll gain back 26hp from leftovers, and another 26hp from ice body at the end of the turn, total of 52 HP. The next turn, I can then just use protect, and ice body and leftovers gives back another 52 HP. So I have spent 104 HP and had just gained back 104, so the only facter is pp. On shoddy, I can stall the person for 32 turns, so if I got toxic spikes, this is often deadly.

This does not work as well with pokemon that aren't affected by toxic spikes, but still good regardless. Scizor's bullet punch only does about 25% damage and attacks from nonsweepers often have to attack twice to get rid of the sub.

dpmfa485.png

Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Explosion

It seems every team needs a heatran now, and just look what a cute little thing it is. Of course being able to absorb fire attacks is very nice as 2 of my guys are weak against it and gliscor pretty much dies from any special fire attack. Explosion helps me get rid of blisseys as I don't have very many strong physical attacks. It just helps me a lot to counter many threats like heat waving zapdos, brongzong, and other heatrans.

Spr_4p_479O.png

Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/136 Def/120 SDef
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Overheat

Rotom provides resistance to some threats to this team and ways to counter them like t-bolt for gyarados and overheat for bronzong. It also serves as a status absorber with rest and sleep talk.

So there are my teams, I've mentioned quite a bit of significant threats, so here they are to sum them up.

dpffa212.png

His bullet punches can be quite devastating if all of my counters for it are dead. Countered with Gliscor with fire fang, tentcruel also does decent damage to it and both of them don't take much damage from scizzor. Walrein can also stall it if it doesn't have leftovers or roost.

dpffa242.png
dpffa227.png

Tries to counter with Abomasnow with wooden hammer on blissey and blizzard on skarmory. Heatran can usually take out one of them as skarmory would normally switch in blissey if I send in heatran, so I like use explosion when I switch into a skarmory. Of course if blissey is dead, then a simple flamethrower would take care of it.

dpffa485.png

Countered with tentacruel as earth power won't do much damage to it, can also switch in heatran when I expect a fire attack and use earth power. Walrein can also stall it as heatrans normally don't have leftovers.

dpmfa145.png

Countered with fross lass if some of it's health is already down. Tentacruel can take a t-bolt and attack with blizzard, but can't OHKO it. Ice shard from either abomasnow or froslass with blizzard can usually then finish it off. Heatran can also come in if I expect heat wave.

Spr_4p_479O.png

Similar to zapdos, and is countered similarly. Tentacruel can survive a t-bolt. However, can switch in heatran when the overheat is coming. Froslass can also revenge kill with shadow ball.

dpmfa437.png

Heatran is really my only counter for this guy as though he really never kills anything on my team, as I usually switch to tentacruel, walrein, or heatran when this guy comes it, he's just annoying to deal with.

So I'm not really stalling as much with this team as most hail teams. So do you guys have any suggestions or comments?

On your Abomasnow, the Ev spread to 252 HP, 40 SpA, 216 SpD Abomasnow's purpose on a hail team is to wall the ever-common Water / Ice or Electric/Ice combinations used by the likes of Suicune, Starmie, Cressilia, Magnezone, Raikou and a counter to the metagame's many walls. The current Ev spread you have does not allow you to accomplish that. If you use 252 HP, 40 SpA, 216 SpD, change Abomasnow's nature to Sassy as it allows it to wall the mentioned Pokemon with greater ease. Sassy also allows you to overcome Sandstorm because Sassy lowers your speed allowing Hail to overcome Sand at the start of the match. Also if using the above ev spread it is best to run Blizzard/Substitute/leech Seed/Focus Punch. So the final moveset should look like this:

Abomasnow:@Leftovers
Ev's: 252 HP, 40 SpA, 216 SpD
Ability: Snow Warning
Nature: Sassy
Substitute
Leech Seed
Focus Punch
Blizzard

In my opinion, Rotom-h outclasses Froslass. Seeing as your team lacks a status absorber, Rotom can easily fill that role and still provides you with a Gyarados counter. Rotom can also deal with Bronzong quite well because Rotom does not take much from Gyro ball thanks to his reistance to steel and Rotom can hit back with Shadow Ball/Overheat/Thunderbolt or Discharge. If you are intersted in using Rotom use this:

Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/136 Def/120 SDef
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt/Discharge
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Overheat/Will-o-Wisp

If Rotom happens to die, Walrein can usually survive a Stone Edge from Gyarados allowing you to roar it away. That was just a little piece of information I thought you should know.

Bulky Gyarados + Dragon Dance + Stone Edge: 54.81% - 64.42%
Bulky Gyarados + 2 DD + Stone Edge: 72.84% - 85.82%

Since this team has a check for Scizor ( Heatran and Rotom) and Lucario(Heatran and Rotom) I cannot find anything else wrong with it =D

If you need further help with your hail team take a look at my Art of Hail Stall Guide Enjoy :toast:

I tried implementing the two in my team again, and they're actually working pretty good, so far the team won 5/5 matches, I'll continue testing with this for now and if I feel this new team is better than my current one, then this will be my new team. Thanks again for the advice.

Hey there.

You might want to consider changing Tentacruel's EVs around to 252HP, 220 SpD, 36 Spe. You could use the slightly higher SpD, and the SpA you are using right now is uneeded as Blizzard already KOs Salamence. The extra SpD makes things like Heatran's Earth Power a definite 3HKO.

Move your Walrein's 46 SpA EVs into Speed. This will let you outrun things like Skarmory and Swampert, meaning you can Roar them out before they can you.

On your Gliscor you might want to try changing the EV spread to Jolly with 252HP, 40 Def, 216 Spe. It will ensure you outspeed any and all Lucario, most Salamence and most Zapdos. If you give it Stone Edge over Fire Fang it will be able to make full use of it to hit these flying pokes hard, while hitting Lucario with Earthquake.

Good luck with your team.

LR.
