Hail team (offense nor stall)

Hello Smogon. I have seen a lot of Hail teams lately and since the strategy seems like quite an easy one I wanted to try one myself. This team was created when I watched a wifi battle on youtube from Blametruth (yeah, the machinima guy). The main idea is to stall with Wallrein but I find stall team very boring so I added some offensive pokemon as well. Rate the team and let me know what you think.

Froslass @ choice scarf
snow cloak
timid - 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- trick
- spikes
- shadow ball
- blizzard

Instead of taunt I opted for a trickscarf lead since that will also screw over faster opposing taunt users such as Aerodactyl. I trick the scarf the first turn most of the time and from there I'm setting up spikes. Shadow Ball is to hit opposing pokemon such as Azelf hard, its one of the faster taunt user I told about. Blizzard is a great move with hail set up as it has a high base power, it is stab and it can freeze an opponent. Froslass is also my anti-spinner.

tentacruel.png

Tentacruel @ black sludge
liquid ooze
calm - 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD

- toxic spikes
- surf
- rapid spin
- hidden power (electric)

Tentacruel is such an important member of the team. This is mostly an ice typed team so stealth rock really hurts. Tentacruel provides rapid spin support to clear that problem. It also lays down Toxic Spikes and prefferably 2 layers so I can outstall Blissey as well as other walls. Surf is to take care of fire pokemon and hidden is to make sure Gyarados doesn't set up on me.

abomasnow.png

Abomasnow @ leftovers
snow warning
sassy - 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD

- substitute
- blizzard
- focus punch
- leech seed

Abomasnow is a key pokemon, it provides hail for the team. I choose the simple subseed set since that looked like the most effective one. And up 'till now I can assure it is. Leech seed will force switches so I can get easy substitutes up. Focus punch is almost a given with substitute and blizzard is just to abuse hail. Like I said in the intro hail is important for Walrein, but this moves is also a bit offensive.

milotic.png

Milotic @ leftovers
marvel scale
bold - 252 HP / 252 Def/ 4 SpA

- surf
- blizzard
- recover
- hidden power (electric)

Milotic is a buffer I use against fire pokemon as tentacruel is pretty frail on the physical side. surf is obvious, for stab and to deal with physical fire pokemon. Blizzard is to abuse hail and coupled with hidden power (electric) it utilize the boltbeam combo which is very effective. With recover Milotic can keep her health high enough to keep walling the opponent.

hariyama.png

Hariyama @ leftovers
thick fat
impish - 80 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd /172 SpD

- rest
- sleep talk
- payback
- revenge

Hariyama is my counter to Tyranitar and also Heatran if my bulky waters have failed. It is also my status absorber and Rest-talker. Payback is to hit the obvious ghosts and revenge is stabed and deals with steels immune to poison (such as Heatran). I'm considering to put whirlwind in there somewhere, perhaps over revenge.

walrein.png

Walrein @ leftovers
ice body
bold - 220 HP / 252 Def / 36 SpD

- substitute
- protect
- roar
- brine

Walrein, or Stallrein as this set is called is such a strong pokemon and very annoying to deal with. I think most of you know the strategy to use here. I'm setting up a substitute and keep protect-sub stalling untill my opponents health is bellow 50% so I can start using brine on him. If this doesn't work because the opposing pokemon holds leftovers I'm jusr Roaring him away so it takes more entry hazzard damage when it switches in again.

Well this was my Hail team let me know what you think and how I can make it better, thanks!

Your team is extremerly sd lucario weak (which is common for hail teams). I suggest removing Milotic for a scarfed Rotom-h. Rotom-h allows you to block rapid spin while also providing a check to lucario.

Hello, got you VM

Like Macle said you are quite weak to SD Lucario. But also you lack Stealth Rock, which is a very important thing to have in the OU game. To cover both your Lucario problem and to add SR to your team I suggest Gliscor instead of Hariyama as Gliscor also deals with Tyranitar, Sand Veil will help here. Taunt will also help you against stall teams and with Toxic Spikes on the field it will be really helpful.

Gliscor @ leftovers/ jolly/ sand veil
252 HP, 4 Def, 252 Spe

- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Roost

If you still need a status absorber you can use Milotic. Milotic has Marvel Scale which increases it's defenses when under a status condition, like Sleep. I suggest a RestTalk Milotic instead with the offensive moves Surf and Blizzard/ HP Electric.

Agreeing with Delko (The hail expert) here since Gliscor fixes up your Lucario weakness. However I am not sure that Frostlass is the right fit for the team. This is because it does not have great longativity in OU. This is an issue if you are planning on Spin Blocking with Frostlass since it does not have the greastest defences. If you don't care about spinblocking then ingore the following advice. If you do want to SPin Block with Frostlass then I suggest the Standard Rotom H set over Frostlass.

Have a Nice Day!

You list Hariyama as a counter to Tyranitar and Heatran, so DO NOT replace Revenge with Whirlwind. Without a Fighting attack on him you will do nothing to them, as they both resist Payback. I wouldn't remove Payback on him as then he's completely walled by Ghosts (well, with Whirlwind, he could phaze them).

I think having HP Electric on both of your bulky waters seems a little redundant. I would replace one of them, either with Rest on Tentacruel or with Toxic on Milotic, to Toxic stuff that TS don't effect so Stallrein can do his thing.
