INTRODUCTION

Ok well if there’s always been a team archetype I have always liked it would have to be Hail based teams. Although I haven't personally made one, I've always liked them, and so, I've finally decided to make one. Since I wanted to ensure I did this right, I searched and looked through team after team of previously posted Hail Teams (I'd say about 15) to ensure I saw all the similarities to make sure I got the right foundations down. This team is what I've pieced together from the information I found:

Changes made will be in BOLD

IN-DEPTH

abomasnow.png

Abomasnow @ Choice Scarf
Timid – Snow Warning
252 Special Attack – 252 Speed – 4 Special Defense
Blizzard
Grass Knot
Hidden Power – Ground
Shadow Ball

Abomasnow does his 1st job just by going out, starting the Hail. Putting Choice Scarf lets it out speed:
--Max Speed Neutral Nature (non Choice Scarf) Base -115-130 Pokémon
--Max Speed, + Nature (non Choice Scarf) base 112's and down
--Max Speed, Neutral Nature (Choice Scarf'd) base 80's and down

Abomasnow's move set hits (I THINK) 12 Types super effective (do correct me if I'm wrong), and everything for at least neutral. EV's are for Speed and Power, not meant to be taking hits and the 4 in Special Defense so that his Hit Points are an uneven number.

rotomwash.png

Rotom (Wash) @ Choice Scarf
Timid - Levitate
252 Hit Points - 60 Defense - 196 Speed
Shadow Ball
Thunderbolt
Reflect
Trick

Serves as Physical Support, Ground/Fighting Immunity, Spin Blocker, and to Trick (hopefully) Scarf to a wall or something that can't utilize it. Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt for STAB since no EV's are invested to hit hard. Considering Hydro Pump possibility over Thunderbolt but right now staying with Thunderbolt. Another possible switch is Will-O-Wisp over Reflect, but I'm a little iffy about that.

swampert.png

Swampert @ Leftovers
Relaxed - Torrent
240 Hit Points - 216 Defense - 52 Special Attack
Earthquake
Blizzard
Stealth Rock
Roar

Supportpert, having Resistance against Rock, Steel, and Fire (those are the important ones) along with Immunity to Electric, it makes up the big Rock weakness I had before. Stealth Rock is a very useful utility that comes with putting Swampert on the team that I didn't have before, along with Roar to (P)Haze set up Pokémon or just to spread damage with Stealth Rock and/or Toxic Spikes. Blizzard + Earthquake gives it good coverage. EV's allow it to take on Physical attacks quite well while still being able to strike back.

tentacruel.png

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Calm – Liquid Ooze
252 Hit Points – 220 Special Defense - 36 Speed
Toxic Spikes
Surf
Blizzard
Rapid Spin

SpikeSpin of the team. Originally Starmie, but Starmie couldn't absorb Toxic Spikes if the need were to arise in a cornered situation or lay down any kind of Spikes, so I switched them (and they both counter Infernape so it's all good =D). Blizzard is used to abuse the Hail even more while Surf is STAB that kills Infernape and friends. EV's are distributed to make it bulky.

mamoswine.png

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Adamant – Snow Cloak
124 Hit Points – 252 Attack – 64 Defense – 68 Special Defense
Curse
Earthquake
Avalanche
Ice Shard

I've nearly fell in love with this thing, it's just amazing. Switch it in on something that fears the normal sets, then Curse on the switch. Just 1 Curse does A LOT for it, making it one scary Tank of a Pokémon to whatever is switching in. Avalanche > Stone Edge because Stone Edge would only cover Gyarados slightly better (and only does approximately 10% more), as well as it's drawback not being a drawback since Curse already makes it dead slow. Earthquake for powerful STAB and Ice Shard to nail weakened/frail Pokémon. EV's just let it take hits quite well to help it get more attacks in.

heatran.png

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Timid – Flash Fire
252 Special Attack – 252 Speed – 4 Defense
Fire Blast
Hidden Power – Ice
Earth Power
Dragon Pulse

Gives Fire Immunity and a notable resistance to Steel. Timid to out speed Max Speed, + Nature (non Choice Scarf) Base 140 Pokemon and down - well worth the missed out Special Attack for the Speed given. Set is just his best offensive moves on one set, Dragon Pulse > Explosion because I can kill Blissey already and the Kingdra relief it gives helps a lot.

OUTRO

Well to conclude this, the team has been running quite smooth, but no where near perfect. This is my 1st time building my own Hail Team, so all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for checking it out,
-Matt

OLD TEAM MEMBERS
charizard.png

Charizard @ Choice Specs
Modest – Blaze
252 Special Attack – 252 Speed – 4 Defense
Overheat
Hidden Power – Electric
Focus Blast
Air Slash

Ground Immunity and Resistant to Fire, Fighting, Steel (there's more, but those are the big ones). Although he doesn't cover Ice's Rock weakness by any means; he does, however, cover they're Fire, Steel and Fighting weaknesses. Choice Specs gives him 475 Special Attack and come off a 328 Speed, that's pretty dangerous. He mainly gets switched in on something like Scizor or something I know is using a resisted move, then attacking them on they're switch. Move set hits all Pokémon for at least neutral as well as super effective to 10 types. EV's are again for Speed and Power, and the 4 Defense is also to keep an odd Hit Points total.

REASON TAKEN OFF THE TEAM: Didn't help the Rock weakness my team had, replaced with Swampert who can has the same Fire and Steel resist as well as Rock and can also set up Stealth Rock and (P)Haze.

I highly, highly suggest stallrein for this team.
you all of the pokes to set up a great set up, but you are missing the star of the show.
I would put him in there in place of either swampert or mamo.
if i were to choose, it would be pert.

I'm aware that Stallrein is missing, and the reason I excluded him was because right now, the meta is so fast and offensive that using such a defensive pokemon such as Stallrein seems like it would be inferior and fail due to the offensive metagame. I could be wrong but that's just the way I see it.

But without Stallrein who's gonna take advantage of your Toxic Spikes? Also, your team don't seem to benefit much from Hail at the moment. Yes you've got 3 Blizzard users, but only 1 of them has STAB, so the fact that you already have 5 pokes with an Ice move makes me think that you're taking advantage of the 120 base power (and probably the ability to hit through the occasional Protect) rather than using it for SE moves.

But without Stallrein who's gonna take advantage of your Toxic Spikes?

I mean I understand that it allows Toxic Spikes to be maximized but I don't see how something so stall related can be efficient without a lot of support behind stall in general in the current meta.
