Hail team I've been working on, and trying to perfect. I've tried Stall-Hail ages ago, and as much as I LOVED Stallrein, the team just seemed to be missing something. No matter what build I tried for the team, it just seemed...lackluster.
So I decided to try my beloved Hail team in a new light...give it new direction and meaning, and so far, it hasn't really let me down. It's not exactly where I want it to be, but it's getting there...slowly, but surely.
Bronzong @ Lum Berry
Heatproof, Careful
252HP/80Def/72Atk/96SpD
- Stealth Rock
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Explosion
My lead. Uses Heatproof over Levitate because I'm able to take 1 flamethrower, fire blast, etc. and guarantee myself at least SR. SR's not important, since I've got hail's residual damage, but it's still nice. I'm pondering tinkering with the EVs a little, make it more defensive, but I'm not quite sure...
Abomasnow @ Choice Scarf
Snow Warning, Hasty
140Atk/116SpA/252Spe
- Blizzard
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Earthquake
- Wood Hammer
The spleen of my team, Abomasnow makes for a decent revenge killer...and coming in off Bronzong's Explosion is the next best thing to being a lead myself. He's fast enough to be a decent threat, and has rarely let me down...not nearly as much as the standard subseeder...thus my choice to make an aggressive hail team...
Arcanine @ Expert Belt
Flash Fire, Adamant
192HP/252Atk/64Spe
- Flare Blitz
- Extremespeed
- Thunder Fang
- HP [Grass]
My fire absorber...works surprisingly well with Abomasnow...at least, early game. Expert Belt is there to give me a little power boost, but not at the expense of versatility or HP. Can't use Morning Sun, so it'll have to do. I'd ponder Return, but it seems a waste to use a normal move with an Expert Belt.
Gardevoir @ Leftovers
Trace, Timid
252HP/80SpD/176Spe
- Will-O-Wisp
- Wish
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
Fire Absorber Mk2. If I see a Heatran and predict a fire move (a common occurrence), I pull her out and send her out in stead of Arcanine. Having a second fire absorber has saved me many times, and since she usually sees play before Arcanine, I get the benefit of two sometimes...Unfortunately, I can't quite get Gardie to work just like I want her to. I've tried a few different movesets, but nothing seems to fit just right...and as much as I want a tracer, I'm not interested in P2 for this position...
Starmie @ Leftovers
Natural Cure, Timid
136HP/156Def/216Spe
- Surf
- Blizzard
- Recover
- Rapid Spin
My spinner, plain and simple. Offers an extra ice resist on top of Arcanine, and takes advantage of the hail. Starmie offers a little bit of stall, if I need it, and lets me absorb status effects; integral for all the mixed/physical sweeping I do...especially when keeping burn in mind.
Dragonite @ Life Orb
Inner Focus, Rash
112Atk/196SpA/200Spe
- Superpower
- Draco Meteor
- Blizzard
- Roost
My wallbreaker. Has enough power to do the jobs that the rest can't quite manage. With this build the way it is,I really don't mind the stat drops from Superpower as much as I probably should...he gets switched out often enough for it not to matter too much anyways.
...And that's the fruit of my labours.
