Halo 3 Tournament Interest Thread.

Basically tell me your thoughts on wether or not your participate in a halo 3 tourney here.

Its either going to be a 2v2 or 1v1, if it gets bigger than i thought, the max is 3v3.

So wich would you prefer.

1v1
2v2
3v3

and what rules should be put in place.

and a general, "yes i would do this"

Snowbound / Gaurdian / Epitaph / Construct / Isolation / The Pit

level / game type will be random and

Shotty Snipers / Slayer / CTF are the only game types availible.
 
i'd be up for 2v2

preferably shotty sniper, one flag CTF, or one bomb

banshees/wraiths banned

no sandtrap or valhalla (too big)
 
I would do this. 2v2 is probably the best and easiest way to accomplish this. No forge games, forged maps, CTF or oddball. Basically just shotty snipers or normal slayer. I'll think of other things later.

Yep I'm interested.

At first I wanted to do 1v1, but I really doubt we'll be able to make fair rules for 1v1 play, or at least agree on them. If anyone's interested, my preference for 1v1 gameplay would be a standard rifle spawn, with weapons on map having no duals and no rocket/laser/sword/hammer - that would be optimal for a skill contest.

Otherwise I'd like to do 2v2, although I'm really pessimistic about getting stuck with a bad teammate, as I'm quite experienced =/

EDIT - about 2v2, is it from only people on Smogon or can I get someone I know? Because if so...lol

Unless you are going to post up a forged version of the map so that every one gets the map with out those vehicles, if its on the map its fair game. This would be a halo 3 tournament of what halo 3 is not what one person thinks halo 3 should be. So if you are going to ban them forge them out. Possible take an official poll for this and the levels/game types. Also there would be no point in banning the banshees and wraiths if your not keeping sandtrap or vahalla.

I wouldn't mind going for a giant free for all to start out the pairings. Just an idea there though. You could all so do a large free for all and each game eliminate some players the do the worst in the match. This could possible show a larger skill difference then just win or lose random pairing 1vs 1.

Sure you may be saying someone could just come and sweep up all the weakened people. Yes, they could , but as far as I'm concerned that is part of the skill of halo. So what I propose is a free for all scoring system.

Kills: 1 point
Assists:0.5 points
Deaths/Suicides: - 1 point

Person or people with the lowest scores are eliminated.

if for somereason you have noone you can play with.

I think it would be more fun and fair to have just people from the forum participate.

(edit - sorry for the 'trashtalk' lol)

I kinda like the idea of doing an FFA first and then making some pairings from that, it would at least be more fair. Oh and to the person who suggested it, assists shouldn't equal 0.5 points lol. Part of FFA is getting and claiming your kills.

Well whatever it was just an idea, because you know when you know in 1 vs 1 your opponent will always have his shield up. so yeah LOL. Anyway thanks for your support on the FFA pairing.

Can we keep this thread by any means free of trash talk. Every one will have a chance to prove just how good they are through actually playing.
