Doubles Hatterene

[OVERVIEW]

Hatterene has a small niche on full Trick Room teams as the most aggressive offensive Trick Room setter. Its very low Speed, Magic Bounce, and STAB Expanding Force let it dispel Amoonguss fairly easily, avoid some traditional Trick Room counterplay like Spore and take advantage of Trick Room itself to fire off powerful spread attacks under Psychic Terrain. Unfortunately, Hatterene's very low Speed, subpar bulk, and reliance on Psychic Terrain make it tough to use outside of dedicated Trick Room teams. Furthermore, it struggles against common Pokemon such as Rillaboom, Incineroar, Heatran, and Metagross. Indeedee-F is a mandatory partner to power up Expanding Force, block Fake Out, and help Hatterene set up Trick Room with Follow Me support. Amoonguss, Diancie, Porygon2, and Torkoal are other common Trick Room setters and beneficiaries that make for regular partners. However, most full Trick Room structures opt to forgo Hatterene for all-around better options such as Necrozma, leaving Hatterene as a niche option on an already niche type of team and therefore not particularly common or viable in Doubles OU.

[SET COMMENTS]

* Expanding Force in Psychic Terrain from Hatterene is one of the strongest attacks in the tier, 2HKOing even the likes of Assault Vest Kyurem-B and Heatran while also hitting both opponents. However, it becomes much weaker and only hits a single target if Psychic Terrain is not active.

* Dazzling Gleam hits Pokemon immune to Psychic that switch into Expanding Force such as Incineroar and Tyranitar.

* Trick Room utilizes Hatterene's and its teammates' low Speed by allowing them to move first against most foes for four turns.

* Protect lets Hatterene shield itself for one turn, allowing a partner to switch in and help set up Trick Room the next turn through Fake Out or redirection.

* Magic Bounce prevents Spore from Amoonguss, Taunt from Zeraora and Tapu Lele, and Whirlwhind from Zapdos denying Trick Room.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Focus Sash guarantees Hatterene survives one hit to set up Trick Room, while Twisted Spoon boosts Expanding Force without recoil, but Hatterene is significantly weaker without Life Orb and has the bulk to often set up Trick Room multiple times regardless. Mystical Fire hits Metagross, can be boosted by Drought from Torkoal, and has the added benefit of dropping the foes' Special Attack, but is less useful overall than Dazzling Gleam or Protect.

  • OV: would rewrite the first sentence a bit; a lot of tr setters can reliably set tr, and a lot of them are also strong attackers in their own right, so it's not particularly unique in this regard. Instead, emphasize how it's essentially the most aggressive by far for Full TR, particularly because of what Magic Bounce does for it and also because of its very low Speed (particularly when compared to Necro, to which Hat can be said to be sort of a sidegrade to), which makes it really difficult to match with other slower mons. In particular, Hat is a TR attacker that actually moves before Amoonguss, and Hat also has SE coverage; for the HO-ish type of TR team that Hat enables, this matters a lot.
  • Set Details: Mention TTar for Dazzle targets, one more wont hurt
  • Set Details: Magic Bounce also stops Amoong Spore.
  • OO: remove psyshock and sitrus. they are: poopoo. can mention mystical fire being nice with torkoal bc of sun. for twistedspoon, can mention how Hat doesnt actually care about boosting dazzle anyway.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Add subpar bulk to the reasons why its relegated to fullroom.
  • Remove the mention of Tapu Lele, I don't think anybody has ever used that with Hatterene and I wouldn't recommend it either.
  • Mention how it struggles against common Pokemon (e.g. Rillaboom, Incineroar, Steel-types).
[OTHER OPTIONS]
  • This is a little nitpicky, but right now it reads a bit like the drawback of being weak without Life Orb is only for Twisted Spoon and not Focus Sash as well, so I'd make it clearer that it applies to both.

Focus Sash can be used to guarantee that Hatterene surviving survives one hit and being able to set up sets up Trick Room at least once,(AC) while Twisted Spoon still boosts the move Hatterene should be attacking with a majority of the time Expanding Force without causing recoil damage, but both are Hatterene is significantly weaker without Life Orb and has enough bulk to Hatterene can often set up Trick Room multiple times regardless. Mystical Fire hits Metagross, is boosted if partnered with by Torkoal's Drought, and has the an added benefit of dropping the opponent's opponents' (I'm pretty sure Mystical Fire hits more than one opponent, but if you also want to include situations where only one is hit then you can ignore this and add back the article) Special Attack, but is overall less useful overall than Dazzling Gleam or Protect.

GP 1/1!

GP Team done

First off, this is a very good AM check! Your point-for-point corrections were thorough and almost always correct, and it would be good to see you expand into larger prose/wordflow/clarity corrections now.

and almost always move first when the dimensions are twisted while Trick Room is active,(AC) so it can and fire off one of the tier's strongest attacks when on Psychic Terrain is active.
This is a good example of when making a larger change would have been more clear. What you put is technically correct, but Trick Room being active is tied to its ability to fire off strong attacks, so re-writing the sentence to keep those ideas together would have been a better improvement.
Full Trick Room
Team archetypes are not capitalized (but Trick Room still is, since it's a move)
redirection move
Redirection is an accepted term; don't forget to reference the GP Standards for accepted terms, especially for metagames you are less familiar with.
Expanding Force,(AC) such as Incineroar and Tyranitar.
This comma is unnecessary. It is acceptable to separate phrases like "such as" with comma or not, but try to keep it consistent within the article. Since there are other examples of "such as" that are not offset by commas, leave this one as-is too.

Again, very good job! And feel free to look at my check for how I made larger prose changes, and feel free to ask me about any of them!
