Hazard Deterrent (Hattrem) @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Tera Type: Fairy
Modest / Quiet Nature
- Healing Wish
- Psychic
- Mystical Fire / Giga Drain
- Nuzzle / Trick Room
[SET COMMENTS]
Magic Bounce lets Hattrem play a rare support role as a bulky entry hazard-deterring Pokemon against Regirock, Mesprit, and Qwilfish. Healing Wish is excellent utility for supporting teammates that get worn down easily, such as Floatzel, Glastrier, and Hisuian Qwilfish. Mystical Fire covers Steel-types like Magneton and Orthworm. Giga Drain is an alternative that pressures Rock- and Ground-types like Regirock and Sandslash while providing Hattrem with some recovery, but it worsens Hattrem's matchups against Steel-types and Brute Bonnet. Nuzzle offers valuable paralysis support; unlike Thunder Wave, it can paralyze opposing Hattrem and also break opposing Focus Sash and Sturdy users. Alternatively, Hattrem can anchor Trick Room teams, which can take advantage of Healing Wish for pivoting and giving slow attackers a second wind. Hattrem should have a Quiet nature when it runs Trick Room. Tera Fairy helps Hattrem survive a massive Dark-type attack from wallbreakers like Sneasel and Brute Bonnet so it can retaliate with Mystical Fire, but Hattrem generally isn't a good user of Terastallization.
Offense teams can count on Hattrem to keep entry hazards off, and offensive Pokemon can compensate for Hattrem's poor Speed and passivity. Teammates that appreciate entry hazards being out of the picture most appreciate Hattrem's type of support. Bulky Pokemon that don't run Heavy-Duty Boots are vulnerable to being worn down by Spikes, so Regirock, Snorlax, and Orthworm benefit greatly from Magic Bounce. Rock-weak offensive threats that don't always run Heavy-Duty Boots, such as Choice Band Sneasel and Choice Scarf Typhlosion, can hit the field more often thanks to Hattrem's support. Offensive pivots like Floatzel, Choice Specs Jolteon, Rotom-C, and Mesprit all benefit from the field being clear of hazards so they can switch around and stay healthy. Walls that depend on Eviolite, such as Porygon2 and Dipplin, don't have to use their recovery moves more often when Hattrem can keep hazards off. Hattrem can stave off Fighting-types like Passimian and Hisuian Sneasel, which is greatly appreciated by Fighting-weak teammates such as Glastrier, Brute Bonnet, and Sneasel. Qwilfish also struggles against Hattrem, which is helpful for Pokemon like Floatzel, Poliwrath, and Grafaiai. Knock Off absorbers like Booster Energy Brute Bonnet, Dipplin, and Virizion let Hattrem hang onto its Eviolite and remain a useful support Pokemon for these teammates. Specially bulky Pokemon like Porygon2, Snorlax, and Regirock can handle special attackers like Mismagius and Vikavolt for Hattrem, while physical walls like Orthworm, Dipplin, and Regirock can withstand physical attackers like Sneasel, Brute Bonnet, and Hisuian Qwilfish, respectively.

Eject Button is an option for sun and snow teams that want Hattrem to act as a one-time pivot that deters entry hazards.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Dark-types**: Hisuian Qwilfish, Sneasel, and Brute Bonnet slam Hattrem with their Dark-type attacks, though the last two don't like taking Mystical Fire. Spiritomb can wear down or break through Hattrem.
**Ghost-types**: Offensive Froslass and Mismagius hit Hattrem hard, though the former is hurt hard by Mystical Fire.
**Psychic-types**: Nasty Plot Mesprit and Farigiraf can use Hattrem as setup fodder. Even if Mesprit can't get up Stealth Rock against Hattrem, it can punish it with Knock Off and put it into bad positions with U-turn, chipping it down in the process.
**Item Disruption**: Knock Off users like Passimian, Sandslash, and Gurdurr soften up Hattrem by removing its Eviolite. Switcheroo and Trick still pull off their effects against Magic Bounce, so users like Mesprit and Hisuian Sneasel can punish Hattrem with a Choice item.
**Strong Wallbreakers**: Powerful attackers like Floatzel, Jolteon, and Glastrier can overwhelm Hattrem with repeated hits due to its lack of recovery. Tanks like Snorlax and Arboliva can tolerate Hattrem's weak attacks and wear it down.
