ORAS UU Have an Early Christmas with Mega Sceptile!

Hohohoho! It's like Christmas has come early! Mega Sceptile was always one of my favorite Mega Evolutions design wise, and it really is quite spectacular in UU, due to its crazy Special Attack and Speed! So, without any further ado, let's look at the gift giving, cheer sharing and generally awesome Mega Sceptile, and his buddies in a UU team!

Christmas (Sceptile-Mega) (M) @ Sceptilite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Leaf Storm
- Focus Blast
- Dragon Pulse

254-mega.png

Mega Sceptile has an incredible offensive presence with sky high SpAtk and Speed within UU, outspeeding every unboosted/non scarfed Pokemon in the entire tier! Giga Drain is there for recovery and for decent enough damage output, Leaf Storm is there just for it's massive power, along with 145 special attack, which enables it to punch fair holes into bulky walls that might come in on Christmas in it's purest form. Dragon Pulse is there for Dragon STAB and Focus Blast smashes Steel Types that come in to bulk out a Dragon Pulse or a Leaf Storm.

Grace (Vaporeon) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 204 HP / 248 Def / 56 SpD
Calm Nature
- Wish
- Scald
- Protect
- Heal Bell

134.png

Vapoeron and Sceptile go hand-in hand together in some synergy-based romance, Vaporeon eats up the Ice hits Sceptile hates, and Mega Sceptile gets even stronger from the Electric attacks Vaporeon hates with a passion, and also absorbs Grass attacks with little or no effort. The spread helps it to bulk out many hits from both physical and the special side of defenses, and Calm Nature allows it to take on special attackers in the tier well.

Ice Age (Mamoswine) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Knock Off

473.png

Man, I was happy to see this thing in UU. I am certain it will go quickly, so I want to use it while I still have the chance to! I hope it's time in UU makes people realize that it's also a monster in OU, well, because it is. EQ + Icicle Crash 2HKO a hell of a lot of the tier with the Choice Band, Ice Shard is there because the heavy damage it puts out and priority. I was torn between using Superpower or Knock Off, Knock Off to hit Cressila HARD, or Superpower to deal with the occasional Ferroseed and ensuring possible KO's on Porygon-2, but in the end I went with Knock Off because Cressila is a horrible thing born from the demons. Knock Off also removes the Eviolite off of Porygon-2 and makes it more bearable anyway.

Cluster (Forretress) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Rapid Spin

205.png

Forretress is so bulky in UU. It deals with so many physical attackers within the vicinity of UU, and can almost freely hazard stack against fair few of them. Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes enable damage and crippling statuses to be forced onto many pokemon who don't appreciate them, and forces clerics to go for Heal Bell on free turns rather then damage you, which allows you to use that to get a very safe switch into something. Gyro Ball is for damage against fast foes + STAB, and Rapid Spin is pretty much needed on every UU team IMO.

Masterbake (Rotom-Heat) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Trick

479-heat.png

Rotom Heat is a very solid scarfer in UU. It has a very strong STAB move, Overheat, which is both good and bad, because of the special attack drop. But, it is a brilliant answer to many walls with Trick. Volt Switch is for momentum + STAB, and HP Ice beats a Mega Sceptile switch-in for a Volt Switch prediction and Gligar. Trick is there because you can mess up any wall in the tier with little or no issues if they choose to stay in.

Croaka Cola (Toxicroak) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch

454.png

Toxicroak is an extremely good pokemon in UU. A very solid typing indeed, it's STAB's cover each other well. It can OHKO most things in the tier after an SD, and even without, Gunk Shot tears a vast majority of mons in UU to shreds. Drain Punch is there for a noble Fighting STAB + Recovery, and Sucker Punch is there to pick off faster mons with Priority and to hit Psychic Types. Dry Skin means that CroCune cannot do anything at all to Toxicroak and allows very easy set up.

This is my team. I hope you like it! Rate harsh and painful, I need advice to make this team perfect for laddering :] Here is the importable so you can play by yourself:

Ok time to get back to rating. Something small and quick that I see is to make vaporeons hp evs 200 instead of 204 to put you at an odd number and then just slap the 4 on defense. The one other thing I see after running some calcs is to change mamoswines item from choice band to life orb. life orb allows to to be able to switch up between all of mamo's moves while still retaining immense power. even with choice band you still will not be 2hkoing mons like forry and suicune with eq and cresselia with knock off. forry and suicune will still be able to threaten you out with scald and gyro ball while cresselia will be able to moonlight off the knock off damage. with the ability to switch moves on mamo you are less prone to offensive checks like grass types, the mega birds, and weakened mons like heracross and mienshao. These mons being able to be picked off by shard is why mamo has emerged as not only a very good wallbreaker but a decent check to offense as well in certain situations. And once again with the life orb still intact you are not losing that much power.

Hope I helped.

Hey man, cool balance team you have. Looking at your team, I'm noticing a very glaring fighting weakness, especially to threats such as SD Lucario and SD Coballion which can easily set up on your Forretress and then demolish your team. To remedy this I'm gonna hop onto what Wanka suggested with LO Mamo and take it a step further and suggest Stealth Rock on Mamo, probably over Knock Off since that slot is filler for the most part and Knock Mamo doesn't beat Defensive Cress. Now, having rocks on Mamo is really important because that opens up a move slot on Forry which allows you to utilize Earthquake on Forry. Earthquake isn't seen too much on Forretress, but it's not a bad option especially if you need to check Lucario/Coba in a pinch like your team does. This change doesn't help with all fighting types, but it does help with, in my eyes, the most dangerous ones to your team since you have more than one offensive check to Hera in Rotom-H and Toxicroak as well as a defensive check to Mienshao in Protect Vaporeon, deterring it from spamming HJK.

If you do want a sturdier fighting check and don't mind changing your team too much, I'd try out Rocks + Defog Gligar and keep 4 attacks Mamo. Set would look something like: Stealth Rock | Defog | Roost | Earthquake.

Nice team, hope I helped! Good luck using this team in the future
