No, this team does not use hax as a gimmick. What it does use however, is the new incredibly powerful dragon type, Haxorus. The moment Haxorus arrived in UU, my first instinct was to build a team around it to see if it was as broken as I thought it was. While, it was not as broken as I thought it was going to be, it is an extremely effective sweeper. I feel that this is one of my best teams (its probably still bad though). I am still a mediocre team builder so I decided to post this team here to fix the (many) flaws I overlooked.
Aromatisse @ Leftovers
Ability: Aroma Veil
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy
- Wish
- Protect
Ahhh yes, the new Florges. I leave for a few months and the most used Pokemon in UU was replaced by something in RU. Underused can change so fast. Anyway, Aromatisse is defiantly worthy of dethroning Florges. It has higher defense, but most importantly, higher HP. Of course, its special attack and especially its special defense are lower but its worth the sacrifice. On my team, Aromatisse gets rid of status conditions that seems to cripple my team every game. It passes large wishes to keep my team alive and counters Hydriegon who would otherwise severely damage my team. Its one of those Pokemon that I enjoy placing on most of my teams.
Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Defog
- Stealth Rock
- Roost
- Will-O-Wisp
So this is Mew, or in other words, the Pokemon I crammed Defog and Stealth Rock on because I couldn't find anything else to put it on. Mew is one of those Pokemon that can be extremely unpredictable at times. This is not one of those times. I do not really like using this set as it is basically dead weight against a statused Pokemon and when Stealth Rocks are up. Its main role is obviously to set up hazards and keep them of the field. It also sponges hits nicely but it cant exactly do much back and it presents a free switch for my opponent at times.
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Rest
- Calm Mind
- Sleep Talk
I really hate Crocune. If you want to know how much I hate it them look at my next Pokemon. Its so bulky that even though I hate, I find me adding it to plenty of my teams. Its defensive bulk is extremely valuable to my team. It sponges hits from many physical attackers and most notably, the 100000 fire types in UU. Theres Infernape, Darmanitan, Houndoom, Chandulure, Victini, Arcanine, and Entei. UU is ridiculous with all of the fire types. A bulky water is almost required on every team. Besides sponging hits, Suicune acts as my backup win condition to Haxorus. Many times it wins me games before Haxorus even enters the battle. It alo spreads burns (better than Mew) and softens up the opponent.
Toxicroak @ Assault Vest
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Gunk Shot
- Knock Off
So if you look at my team, you will notice that it gets obliterated by fairy types. Hydrreigon, and Mew cant touch them. Haxorus doesn't want to risk not killing them and cant switch in. Suicune can stand up to UU fairies but he shouldn't be my only counter. Also, water types, specifically Crocune, also love my team. Without Assault Vest Toxicroak, I would be entering a Calm Mind war every time my opponent sent out a Suicune. Unlike other overrated fighting Pokemon (I'm looking at you Scrafty) I find Toxicroak pulling its weight every single battle. Whether its spamming Knock Off, firing off a powerful Gunk Shot, or healing back up with Drain Punch, Toxicroak fills an important position in my team. It takes special hits surprisingly well and walls most waters too. This team wouldn't function without it.
Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Superpower
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
Do you remember when I said I like placing Aromatisse on most of my teams? Well, Hydreigon goes on practically all of my UU team It was even on my first XY OU team (which was laughable looking back on it). Mixed Hydreigon opens up large holes in most teams and can even solo unprepared teams. Even one of the best special walls in the game even falls to an unexpected Superpower once in a while. Its main role is to wallbreak for either Haxorus or Suicune to clean up lategame. Like Toxicroak, it is a core offensive fixture in this team.
Haxorus @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Dual Chop
- Poison Jab
Finally, we arrived at the main member of this team, Haxorus. Originally, I believed it was broken but that was soon disproved by its performance which convinced me that it feels right at home with its fellow gen 5 dragon Hydreigon. They really do make a solid double dragon core together. After a long fought battle. Haxorus eventually makes its way in, sets up a Dragon Dance or two, and proceeds to wipe out the entire opposing team (usually). Earthquake is used for the beneficial coverage and Poison Jab is used to murder fairies. I went with Dual Chop over Dragon Claw to break any random sashes or subs. The accuracy does worry me.
So there's my team. Please rate :) (I know it sucks. Shut Up.)
