NFE Hazard Lead Glimmet [done]

UMPL Champion
[OVERVIEW]
As one of the few viable Pokemon with access to Stealth Rock and Spikes, Glimmet is one of the premier entry hazard setters in the NFE metagame. The uniqueness of its niche means that it comfortably finds places on both hyper offense and slow hazard stacking team compositions. Toxic Debris punishes weak physical attacks like the omnipresent Knock Off and stops the likes of Quaxwell and Monferno from gaining momentum with Flip Turn and U-turn. Corrosion importantly enables the use of Toxic on Steel-types like Tinkatuff and Hisuian Sliggoo, putting them on a timer and ensuring that they cannot check Glimmet and its teammates forever. Despite all this, Glimmet has a generally poor defensive profile with weak bulk and crippling weaknesses to Ground-, Water-, and Psychic-type attacks. It also faces competition as a Poison-type from Koffing and Ivysaur, which both have greater longevity and access to utility moves like Will-O-Wisp and Knock Off, respectively.

[SET]
Hazard Lead (Glimmet) @ Focus Sash / Eviolite
Ability: Toxic Debris
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Sludge Wave
- Power Gem / Memento
- Stealth Rock / Memento

[SET COMMENTS]
Glimmet is a natural choice for a dedicated lead because Toxic Debris severely limits the ways an opponent can effectively respond, creating more opportunities to set Spikes. Sludge Wave lets Glimmet have some form of direct damage, stopping Thwackey and Servine from setting up in front of it. Power Gem has limited utility as coverage but crucially OHKOes Fletchinder. Stealth Rock is a preferred option to have in cases where Glimmet can only set two layers of entry hazards. Memento is can be used to stop a slower Rapid Spin or Defog from succeeding. It also neutralizes opposing offenses and can create a free turn for a sweeper to set up. Focus Sash is preferred on builds that expect to always lead Glimmet, as it guarantees a turn to act. However, Eviolite is a solid option in cases where another offensive hazard setter like Krokorok or Gabite is accompanying Glimmet.

Drakloak is an indispensable partner, as it can easily block Rapid Spin from Quaxwell, which is very commonly seen on most balance structures, and easily pivot into threats or wallbreak itself. Generally, any offensive Pokemon that appreciates entry hazards will be a good partner for Lead Glimmet, common offensive staples such as Pignite, Thwackey and Hisuian Sliggoo all fit comfortably next to it. Fast Choice Specs users like Frogadier and Girafarig do not fear Flame Body and can KO Fletchinder before it has the chance to use Defog. Explosive setup sweepers like Shell Smash Wartortle and Dragon Dance Fraxure can take great advantage of Memento and threaten to end the game quickly. Shed Skin Scraggy and Krokorok can both freely counter Hattrem without worrying about Nuzzle. Offensive Ground-types like Piloswine and Gabite are great to threaten opposing Poison-types that will otherwise absorb the Toxic Spikes from Toxic Debris.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

An offensive set with Power Herb and Meteor Beam does an obscene amount of damage by NFE standards, OHKOing Choice Band Piloswine and specially frail Eviolite holders like Monferno and Koffing while doing serious damage to sturdy defensive pieces like like Quaxwell and Ivysaur. However, Glimmet lacks the coverage to be a consistent wallbreaker, and it strongly prefers a longevity-increasing item instead. While situational, Dazzling Gleam stops Scraggy from using Glimmet as setup fodder and does notable damage to Krokorok and Gabite. On the hazard lead set, Mud Shot can be used to better punish Monferno and Pignite, while also being invaluable against opposing Glimmet.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types:** Because they are slower, Quaxwell and Wartortle can both use Rapid Spin to clear away Glimmet's hazards without worrying about Toxic Debris and can OHKO it with Surf after. Frogadier is also able to easily dispatch with Glimmet while preserving momentum with U-turn and Spikes.

**Ground-types:** While they do not stop Glimmet from setting at least one layer of entry hazards, Piloswine, Gabite, and Krokorok can all easily KO Glimmet and take minimal damage from its attacks.

**Hattrem**: Hattrem prevents the setting of entry hazards with Magic Bounce and forces Glimmet out with its Psychic-type STAB moves. However, without RestTalk, Hattrem needs to be wary of getting worn down by Glimmet's attacks.

**Setup Sweepers**: Swords Dance Gabite and Dragon Dance Fraxure can both take advantage of lead Glimmet to set up and start making progress, as they can block Memento with Substitute or Taunt. Bulky Calm Mind users like Dunsparce and Duosion can threaten Glimmet without worrying about Toxic Debris and can also freely set up in front of it.

**Defoggers**: Fletchinder and the rare Vullaby are able to remove entry hazards without worrying about getting blocked by a Ghost-type teammate.

The uniqueness of its niche means that it comfortably finds places on both hyper offense and slow hazard stacking team compositions. Both Corrosion and Toxic Debris further support Glimmet's disruptive potential, either punishing weak physical attacks like the omnipresent Knock Off or putting defensive Pokemon on a timer with Toxic. Restructure this sentence by elaborating more onto Corrosion since its poisoning steels and opposing poisons is one of its defining niches, and elaborating how toxic debris combined with its typing/attack stat allows it to pressure opposing hazard removers and physical attackers. Also add 2 sentences on how Glimmet has a poor defensive profile even when fully invested (many weaknesses, low bulk) and faces competition with other Poison-types with their better longevity (Koffing is the most notable example as a hazard setter).

Since you mentioned Hattrem in the Checks/Counters section I'd provide teammates that can at the very least pressure it with stuff like Knock Off/U-turn/super effective moves. I know you included Girafarig already but maybe include Pokemon that can pressure Poison-types out that would otherwise absorb Toxic Debris

An offensive set with Power Herb and Meteor Beam does an obscene amount of damage by NFE standards could you include feats as to what the combination of Power Herb + Meteor Beam can do?. However, Glimmet lacks the coverage to be an effective wallbreaker and it strongly appreciates a longevity-increasing item instead. I'd also include Mud Shot as an option for lead sets to answer against Fire-types like Monferno/Pignite and opposing Glimmet. While Dazzling Gleam hasn't seen tour usage yet as of writing, it's a notable option to consider against Scraggy, Krokorok, and Dragons like Fraxure and Gabite.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Hattrem**: Hattrem prevents the setting of entry hazards with Magic Bounce and forces Glimmet out with Psychic STAB. Do note Hattrem doesn't necessarily like switching into Glimmet's moves, as at full health Glimmet can 3HKO Hattrem

**Setup Sweepers**: Swords Dance Gabite and Dragon Dance Fraxure can both use Glimmet's passivity as a chance to set up and start making progress, even blocking Memento with Substitute or Taunt. To be honest none of them necessarily like triggering Toxic Debris for its teammates, and base 105 Special Attack makes Glimmet the opposite of passive. I would note that while Glimmet can easily be KOed by them, none of them enjoy switching into it or comfortable setting up against it. I do like the mention of Substitute/Taunt screwing up with Glimmet's non-attacking moves though. Bulky Calm Mind users like Dunsparce and Duosion can threaten Glimmet without worrying about Toxic Debris and can also freely setup in front of it.

**Defoggers**: Fletchinder and the rare Vullaby are freely able to remove entry hazards without worrying about getting blocked by a Ghost-type teammate.

I would include Water-types, Psychic-types, and Ground-types, as while they don't necessarily prevent Glimmet from setting up hazards, they do otherwise easily KO it after tanking at least one hit, though they have a more difficult time answering Corrosion sets. Quaxwell is notably dangerous for bypassing Toxic Debris with Rapid Spin - it clears all hazards as it goes last in a turn sequence.

implemented, not mentioning giraf in checks since you dont really want to lead it vs glimmet. even vs evio, it can't get rid of a full hp glimmet in 1 turn and hates being toxicd. will mention having a psychic check is important on physdef teammates though.
