Ayeee 3rd RMT and this team is surprisingly best one yet. It plays out better than my last team I posted and yeah.
Anyways, may as well get into it. I wanted to build a team out of one of my old favorites, Tornadus-T. I had it on my last team, and I like it so I made a team around it and it's been working out pretty nicely. Now with the RMT.
Tornadus-Therian (M)@ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 184 HP / 16 Atk/ 4 Def / 96 SDef/ 208 Spd
Jolly Nature
- U-Turn
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- Hurricane
EV Explanation: Meet my Tornadus with an OG EV spread. The HP and SDef EV's are so I can live and take huge hits and survive and just hit back. Keldeo Hydro Pump fails to OHKO, and I can hit it back with Hurricane. Greninja LO Protean Ice Beam fails to OHKO, I can hit back with Superpower. LO THUNDURUS fails to OHKO, I can Knock Off the item and then U-Turn out and regenerate back the health lost, as I outspeed it anyways. The 16 attack is just because of my OCD but it lets me 2HKO Chansey I think with Knock Off + Superpower. 4 Def again is because again is just because my OCD. The speed is to speed creep Max Timid Raikou by 2 points.
Moves: U-Turn is there so I can get chip damage and switch into a better switch-in, scout, etc. It also forms a Volt-Turn core with my team.
Knock Off is just to get rid of any troublesome items or to cripple things that the other team might have like Eviolite off a Chansey, Specs off Keldeo, LO off Thundurus, etc.
Superpower helps me deal with the pink blob, Excadrill, T-Tar, etc. Then after the stat drops, I can just U-Turn out. Also, since I can take a Ice Beam from Greninja, I can OHKO Greninja after it changes types after one turn of LO recoil.
Hurricane: Originally, I had Aerial Ace, but even with a -SAtk nature, Hurricane hits soooooo much harder. Even tho the accuracy isn't the best, it hits like a truck and has a nice chance to confuse the other poke.
Synergy:
Electric: Manectric, Mamoswine, Latios
Ice: Mamoswine, Keldeo
Rock: Keldeo
-----------------------------------------------------------
Next member of my team is someone who I use frequently on most my teams, as he hits like a fucking nuke and helps out with hazards: LATIOS
Latios (M)@ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 40 Atk/ 216 SAtk/ 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Defog
EV Explanation: Trbh, I have NO idea why I chose the 40 attack EV's. I think it's cuz it guarantees a 2HKO against Heatran, but yeah. Speed is maxed out so it can outspeed all relevant threats that aren't as fast, and nuke the shit outta them. 216 SAtk still lets it truck the fuck outta poke's.
Moves: Draco Meteor is obvious stab move. It WILL do some insane damage to anything that doesn't resist, or is a fairy/blob.
Psyshock is another obvious stab, and it's chosen over Psychic because I like being able to hit both sides of the spectrum and it does alot of damage to Chansey. If I could knock off the Eviolite, you can say bye-bye to the blob.
Earthquake is to deal with the things that would wall the hell out of this thing, like all steel types, mainly Heatran, Aegi, Exca, etc. In my last RMT, it was pointed out to me that EQuake did more damage than HP Ground, which I previously had, so I changed it and I like this better.
Defog is to get rid of hazards, as the team was built with the thought of Tornadus-T in it. Even though it has Regenerator, it needs hazards to be gone for it to do its job effectively. Also, I have 2 poke extremely hazard weak, so keeping rocks off the field are nice. (Tornadus-T is one of them)
Synergy:
Dark: Keldeo
Bug: Keldeo, Tornadus-T, Talonflame
Dragon: Don't really have a good switch-in to these but Mamo could R-Kill them and Tornadus-T can take a hit from the special side and take a good chunk away, so pretty much Latios.
Ice: Mamoswine, Keldeo
Ghost: Tornadus-T can take the hit, as most are specially based.
Fairy: Talonflame
-----------------------------------------------------------
I noticed a big ice type weakness so I went for another old favorite, mainly because this team is offensive and it puts alot of pressure on the other team too, considering it has a LO, not sash, and I preferred it over Tran because I felt like Tran wouldn't work too well with the team. Anyways, the next one is MAMOSWAG.
Mamoswine (F)@ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 Def/ 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Icicle Spear
EV Explanation: Stantard EV set, I used to have something else because I had Freeze Dry but I realized I needed a rock setter so I changed it back to this. Also, at one point, I only put enough speed to outspeed max adamant Bisharp, and put the rest in HP, but changed it back to this. Reason in using Adamant over Jolly is the sheer power. It just destroys anything that doesn't resist it. And oh, this thing thing will take only around 66% from a Banded Talonflame Flare Blitz, which is awesome. I played a match earlier and a +2 Flamethrower from Clefable only did around 66% so I hope that gives you a picture of how bulky it can actually be.
Moves: Stealth Rock is self explanatory. I just needed entry hazards. This thing is strong af and can set rocks more than once if needed because I take it back out if needed, it's not a suicide lead.
Ice Shard is nice because it gives me a priority attack because Mamo doesn't have the greatest speed in the world, and let's me revenge kill dragons and such.
Icicle Spear is chosen over Icicle Crash because it has 100% accuracy and lets me break sashes and multiscale. Better safe than sorry.
Earthquake is an obvious stab that will dent anything that doesn't resist it.
Synergy:
Water: Keldeo, Latios
Fighting: Latios, Tornadus-T, Talonflame
Steel: Keldeo, Manectric, Talonflame
Fire: Latios, Keldeo, Talonflame
Grass: Latios, Talonflame, Tornadus-T, Manectric
-----------------------------------------------------------
It was about time I picked a Mega for the team, and I didn't wanna pick anything common, because honestly, you always see the Zard's, Mawile, Pinsir and Scizor. I was thinking about Absol at first but I saw U-Turn on Tornadus-T and wanted to make a Volt-Turn core. At first, I thought about Amphy, but picked Manectric for 3 Reasons: The speed, the amazing coverage I get with it's 4 moves, and with 3 pokes weak to Electric and Manectric having Lightningrod, it was the perfect choice.
Manectric (M)@ Manectite
Ability: Lightningrod
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SAtk/ 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ice]
EV Explanation: Again, pretty standard EV's, max speed and attack so I can outspeed and hit as fast and as hard as I can. After a Lightningrod boost, you can sweep teams or atleast take a few down with you because of Manectric's amazing speed stat once mega evolved.
Moves: Volt Switch is so I can form a volt turn core and keep momentum, and being able to switch out against a bad matchup. Coming off as a stab move, it still hurts if it isn't resisted.
Thunderbolt is to give me a reliable strong hitting, stab move. With 95 base power I think, it hits pretty hard and is preferred over Thunder for obvious reasons. If it wasn't obvious, it's for accuracy.
Hidden Power Ice deals with the ground types that just wall it completely and makes a makeshift Bolt-Beam. Lando and Gliscor, it destroys both of them completely, unless they have a scarfed Lando-T, then I'm screwed.
Flamethrower is the last move and I pick it over Overheat because I don't like the special attack drop that comes with it, but honestly, that's just personal preference.
Synergy:
Ground: Talonflame, Latios, Tornadus-T
-----------------------------------------------------------
Well now I felt like I needed a Revenge Killer. At first, I thought of using Lando-T because it can form a nice Intimidate + Volt-Turn core, but I took it out and put Talonflame instead. I mean, idk about you, but I get more scurred seeing a Talonflame in the team preview, opposed to a Lando. Plus, Talonflame lets me deal with Greninja, which is a problem with ALLLLL MY TEAMS. Anyways, this fire Bird gets shit done better than Lando, imo.
Talonflame (F)@ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 32 HP/ 252 Atk/ 224 Spd
Jolly Nature
- U-Turn
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
- Will-O-Wisp
EV Explanation: I forgot if I stole the EV spread tbh or if I thought of it myself but it's to speed-creep Greninja and U-Turn out, landing the OHKO. And the fact I have Jolly means I'll outspeed 95% of other Talonflame considering that almost everyone runs Adamant.
Moves: U-Turn is to complete my 3 way Volt-Turn core and it helps keep momentum. It also lets me scout out what the other player is gonna do.
Brave Bird is obvious stab with Priority which is really nice. I can absolutely demolish Pinsir, Hera, Loom, and put a big ass dent in anything that doesn't resist it.
Flare Blitz is another stab which absolutely trashes anything that doesn't resist. This along with Brave Bird will put some serious dents in the other team.
Will-O-Wisp is really just a filler. You can opt to run Sleep Talk or Tailwind in place of this, but I personally chose it because I can surprise things like Exca, Lando, Mawile, Azu, etc on the switch and render them pretty useless for the game, unless they have a cleric on their team. Another reason I chose Talon over Lando was because I can't get burned meaning I could hit hard af still.
Synergy:
Rock: Keldeo
Electric: Mamoswine, Manectric, Latios
Water: Keldeo, Latios
-----------------------------------------------------------
I needed a final poke to make the team legit, and what's a team without my little pony? Keldeo takes the last spot because it's pretty much a staple in all my teams just due to its insane hitting power and how scary this unicorn type thing can be. With Specs, you don't wanna fuck with thing thing. The wallbreaking is too real.
Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk/ 4 Def/ 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Grass]
EV Explanation: such unorthodox EV's, right? Another standard EV set which is basically put into maximizing speed and special attack.
Moves: Hydro Pump=Nuke to anything that doesn't have water absorb/doesn't resist. Nuff said.
Scald is a more reliable move with 100% accuracy. I use it over Surf just because I like spreading the burnnssssss.
Secret Sword is another obvious stab and it deals with the blob, Ferro, etc. Nothing special about this.
Hidden Power Grass. Yeah, I chose this over HP Flying because I'm already dealing with Mega Venu with 3 other Pokes so there is no need for it. I pick Grass over Electric for coverage and because if I come across a Seismitoad/Swampert/Quagesire, I can actually hit them. Hydro Pump OHKO's Quag but HP Grass is more reliable.
Synergy:
Flying: Manectric, Mamoswine
Electric: Manectric, Mamoswine, Latios
Psychic: Latios
Grass: Latios, Talonflame, Tornadus-T, Manectric
-----------------------------------------------------------
Well yeah, I like this team alot, idk about you but it plays well with my style. It's obviously nowhere near perfect and has alot of flaws, some being I have no switch-in's for Dragon Type and Fairy Type moves, I have no true answer to fairies and I had another one at the tip of my tongue but I forgot it so I hope you'll point it out to me. :x
An alternative to Mamo and Talonflame is putting Lando-T with Rocks and putting something LO Weavile in but I haven't tested this out yet.
Anyways, before the PO ladder reset, I peaked 1465, and DracoNinja, who's a PO moderator said 1400 on PO is roughly equivalent to 1800 on PS, so I'd say it doesn't have a bad peak.
This team has many threats, too many to list. But one major one is Mega Gardevoir. Holy shit, with Hyper Voice, Focus Blast and T-Bolt, and the right predictions, it can tear through my team. I can usually hurt it really bad and revenge kill it but it usually involves me sacking someone.
Thanks for taking your time to look at this and just lemme know what you think. I'll leave an importable so you can test it out yourself if you want, and yeah. Btw, title is that because I was watching alot of Kevin Hart before I made this.
Anyways, may as well get into it. I wanted to build a team out of one of my old favorites, Tornadus-T. I had it on my last team, and I like it so I made a team around it and it's been working out pretty nicely. Now with the RMT.
