Hello all, I am sure you all read the title and are in tears bawling your eyes out. I have officially become the longest serving mod on circus after ajs retirement. Alas my time has also swiftly come along.
We have had many ups and down, but mostly one big down and then one bigger up (in playerbase) during my time as mod. I really enjoy this community and I love mafia, it has been great for me to see this revival, both last year for noc and earlier this year for oc. I hope we continue to see growth in both communities and gain players/sustain our current user base.
I have to say, overall modding and seeing the community thrive again has been rewarding, but I also have to say I am well and truly drained from it after quite a few years at the helm of mafia stuff.
There was a time when I worried that I would be the last mafia mod on smogon, and when my career ended so would our dwindling mafia community. Luckily this is not the case and I get to pass the torch on to other mafia mods, a fairy, celever and of course joey. I am truly thankful for that because as mentioned, I love mafia. I am looking forward to being able to step back from balancing, checking, emergency takeovers etc, not so that I can disappear but hopefully so I can play more! (And not be stressed over games going horrifically - good luck with that remaining mod team).
I’ll still be helping out with checking when necessary, but primary responsibility for the community, and my general duties as a mod will be handed over, along with the colour of my badge following this post.
Thank you to everyone in the community who has been on my 10k+ post journey (please forgive me for the 10k being a vote count). I’d give special shout outs but the list is so long so instead I will say, thanks to the noc communitywho included me so early when I first arrived, thank you to the mod team before me for trusting me to be mod, thank you to the current mod team for being great to work with and a reliable caretaker to leave the community in the hands of, and thank you to the current playerbase. A lot of you can no longer be seen as new, but you’re still newer than me. In the declining playerbase that is forum mafia across the scope of the internet, it is amazing to see newer hands come to play and flourish and learn.
Thanks again and best of luck to everyone going forward. I hope to omgus you for years to come.
