with americans and britons finally realizing they're fuckin obese, there has been an increase in demand for healthy snacks, especially alternatives to otherwise unhealthy foods like ice cream. in my experience these are pretty hit-or-miss, which is inevietable when you try to make junk food good for you. a lot of these are also pretty expensive; while this can be chalked up to some of the alternative ingredients being fairly expensive (i.e. stevia and other natural sweeteners), most of these companies are just inflating the price because of the healthy label
i really like yasso bars, they're super creamy but don't go ham on the added sugar. they're made from greek yogurt, so they're lower in fat and higher in protein than other frozen treats. the vanilla bean and chocolate fudge flavors are the best health wise due to having lower calorie and sugar counts, though taste wise i also like their chocolate fudge brownie and peanut butter chocolate flavors. they have chocolate crunch coated variants which taste good but have more fat and sugar
halo top ice cream is also nice, but $5 for a small pint is ridiculous, even by frozen treat standards. they're creamy but some of the flavors have a bit of an odd, almost fruity funk to it, likely due to the sugar alcohols. they're great in healthy-ish milkshakes tho, and they usually float around 300 cals per pint so its not too bad
recently my local grocery store has offered cheaper, generic-named alternatives to low cal ice cream pints like halo top. i've only tried their fudge brownie and strawberry cheesecake flavors. the ice cream part of the former has a bit of a fruity funk to it, which isn't surprising since stevia and chocolate don't really play nice together. the brownie chunks taste great tho. the latter had a nice strawberry flavor, but the crust parts were too grainy and bland, and pretty much ruined the whole taste for me.
anyway for those who indulge in healthy alternatives to frozen treats, post ur reccommendations and recipes here
