Heatmor [0/2]

[SET]
name: Mixed Attacker
move 1: Fire Lash
move 2: Sucker Punch
move 3: Knock Off / Overheat
move 4: Giga Drain / Stomping Tantrum
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Flash Fire / White Smoke
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
As a rare offensive Fire-type, Heatmor faces little competition within the metagame thanks to its high offensive stats and good coverage, which set it apart from other offensive Fire-types such as Raboot and Flareon. These attributes grant Heatmor greater set versatility. Futhermore, the addition of Heavy-Duty Boots this generation removes one of Heatmor's main weaknesses in Stealth Rock, allowing it to switch in much more often throughout a match. Fire Lash functions as its primary STAB with the secondary effect of lowering Defense; this synergizes well with Sucker Punch, giving Heatmor a chance to KO many of the tier's faster threats when used after Fire Lash. Knock Off provides a means of crippling the tier's abundancy of NFEs by removing their Eviolite; alternatively, Overheat can be run in order to quickly OHKO offensive threats such as Klinklang, Mawile, Dubwool and Gourgeist without detracting from Heatmor's physical damage output. Giga Drain hits Water-types that might otherwise switch in freely such as Palpitoad and for super effective damage, while also providing recovery. Stomping Tantrum is another option which gives Heatmor a means of dealing with defensive switchins like Mareanie and Flareon. White Smoke can be run over Flash Fire in order to ignore Attack drops from Intimidate Mawile and Parting Shot Silvally; it also prevents Bellossom from setting up on Heatmor with Strength Sap and Quiver Dance. Maximum Speed investment is important to outspeed offensive threats such as Lapras, Gourgeist-XL and Pawniard, which may otherwise overwhelm Heatmor; Jolly can be chosen over Adamant in order to outspeed Adamant Falinks and most Dubwool sets, allowing for an Overheat revenge kill.

Heatmor fits best on bulkier teams that would otherwise struggle to break through bulky walls such as Dusclops and Mareanie, which Heatmor offers an answer to with its utility in Fire Lash and Knock Off. Heatmor pairs well with offensive Fairy- and Water-types such as Mawile and Lapras, which appreciate the pressure on bulky Steel- and Grass-types such as Klinklang and Gourgeist. These also offer a means of defeating Dragon- and Ground-types respectively, which Heatmor struggles against. Finally, Mr. Rime makes a good teammate for Heatmor as the two are mutually beneficial: Mr. Rime pressures Ground-types like Stunfisk and Sandslash that threaten Heatmor, as well as offering hazard removal upon Heatmor's switching out, while Heatmor offers a switch in to opposing Fire-types that threaten Mr. Rime via Flash Fire.

[SET]
name: Choice Specs
move 1: Flamethrower / Fire Blast / Overheat
move 2: Giga Drain
move 3: Scorching Sands
move 4: Focus Blast / Sucker Punch
item: Choice Specs
ability: Flash Fire
nature: Modest / Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Utilising a Choice Specs and its good special coverage, this set allows Heatmor to blow past many common metagame threats unresisted. Giga Drain hits Water- and Ground-types that might otherwise switch in freely such as Lapras, Golduck and Stunfisk for super effective damage, while also providing recovery. Scorching Sands allows Heatmor to pressure Mareanie as well as opposing Fire-types. Focus Blast provides an effective but unreliable answer to Type: Null, which may otherwise wall it. Alternatively, Sucker Punch allows Heatmor to hit faster threats like Mr. Rime and Gourgeist, potentially inhibiting a sweep.

This set moreso appreciates Speed control, as Heatmor's middling Speed tier leaves it open to many of the tier's faster threats, with Heatmor's Sucker Punch being weaker on this set. Consequently it pairs well with Stunfisk and Togetic and their ability to spread paralysis. It also benefits from Scarfers such as Unfezant and Golduck, which can revenge kill for Heatmor, as well as bulky Teleporters like Beheeyem, who can bring Heatmor in safely.

[SET]
name: Eject Pack
move 1: Overheat
move 2: Recycle
move 3: Giga Drain
move 4: Flamethrower / Sucker Punch
item: Eject Pack
ability: Flash Fire / White Smoke
nature: Modest / Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
This set makes use of the new Eject Pack item, which switches the user out if a stat is lowered. Overheat synergizes effectively with this item by allowing Heatmor to function as a pivot after dealing damage, both removing Overheat's drawback and providing momentum. Recycle gives Heatmor the opportunity to replenish the Eject Pack after use, allowing for multiple pivots in a game. Flash Fire provides Heatmor with more options to switch in, simultaneously boosting its Overheat, whereas White Smoke prevents the Eject Pack from being activated by the opponent. A fast spread is provided to give Heatmor longevity by avoiding attacks; however, 216 HP / 252 SpA / 40 Spe is another option which gives Heatmor a slower pivot, instead taking attacks for its teammates. If this spread is chosen, the priority offered by Sucker Punch is likely preferred. 40 Speed is for outspeeding Palpitoad in order to OHKO with Giga Drain.

Ideal teammates for this set are breakers and setup sweepers, such as Galarian Rapidash, Klinklang and Falinks, that appreciate the offensive momentum gained from Eject Pack. On the other hand, Heatmor appreciates teammates that are resistant to Knock Off, such as Silvally and Galarian Linoone, which can bring Heatmor into battle relatively safely with U-Turn or Parting Shot.

As a rare offensive Fire-type, Heatmor faces little competition within the metagame thanks to its high offensive stats and decent speed tier. not sure what this is rly saying, its speed tier isnt that good and is in fact the main thing setting Raboot (its one major competitor) apart. if you wanted to talk about competition, "Raboot is faster but Heatmor breaks stall better" makes more sense Futhermore, the addition of Heavy-Duty Boots this generation removes one of Heatmor's main weaknesses in Stealth Rock, allowing it to switch in much more often throughout a match. Fire Lash functions as its primary STAB with the secondary effect of lowering Defense; this synergizes well with Sucker Punch which gives Heatmor a chance to OHKO many of the tier's faster threats when used after Fire Lash if it's after a fire lash then it's not OHKO it's just a KO. Knock Off provides a means of crippling the tier's abundancy of NFEs by removing their Eviolite; alternatively, Overheat can be run in order to OHKO Dubwool after Stealth Rock damage, which otherwise sets up on it, and OHKO Mawile, without detracting from Heatmor's physical damage output Mawile will still lower your attack, you just get to OHKO it anyway. Giga Drain hits Water-types that might otherwise switch in freely such as Lapras not the best example since you'd rather lash Lapras, Palpitoad and Basculin for super effective damage, while also providing recovery. Maximum Speed investment is important to outspeed offensive threats such as Lapras and Pawniard, which may otherwise overwhelm Heatmor; Jolly can be chosen over Adamant in order to outspeed most Dubwool sets.

Heatmor fits best on bulkier teams I don't understand why. offense can also use it as a wallbreaker that would otherwise struggle to break through bulky walls such as Dusclops, which Heatmor offers an answer to with its utility in Fire Lash and Knock Off yes, it's a wallbreaker. this is weirdly specific for the concept of a wallbreaker. If Knock Off is chosen instead of Overheat, defensive Ghost-types like Gourgeist should be considered to put a stop to Dubwool's sweep in Heatmor's stead yeah but even with overheat you need a dubwool stop because Heatmor isnt revenge killing it. this is just a general team thing, all teams should have a dubwool stop, so idk why this needs saying. Heatmor pairs well with offensive Fairy- and Water-types such as Mawile and Basculin, which appreciate the pressure on bulky Steel- and Grass-types such as Gourgeist and opposing Mawile, as well as offering a means of defeating Dragon-types such as Fraxure, as well as Mareanie and Stonjourner, which Heatmor struggles against. this sentence is way too run on and confusing
at least put something about water resists

there's a decent amount of edits here but I think they'll be fine to implement so this is 1/2

I would always double check with an outside source before doing drastic set changes in your analysis. Wile I appreciate the time and effort that went into these sets, the specs set should really cut closer to our on-site special attacker set that also has boots as a main option while Recycle+Eject Pack needs to go entirely and be replaced with Scarf Heatmor. There are 3 really good and straightforward resources for knowing what to include in your analysis- checking on-site sample sets, asking a qc member, and posting in the pu analyses channel. I recommend the first one of those, we already have physical mixed, special mixed, an scarf as the 3 Heatmor sets and that's pretty much what you should stick to. Moving this back into WIP for now.
