Hi smogon, this is a team I've made and tried tinkering around with. It was originally based on having a heatran sweep, but after it's core I feel like it's a bit too random. Anyways,
Heatran@choice scarf
Timid 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 Hp
Fire blast
Earth power
Stealth rock
Hidden power Electric
The point of this team is that there are very few things that can switch into scarftran more than once if stealth rocks are up. These pokes are snorlax, suicune, vaporeon, blissey, tyranitar, latias and swampert, mostly, in OU. The thing they all share in common is that aside from latias, all are weak to toxic spikes. If both toxic spikes and stealth rock are up, blissey takes 50-55% switching in, and another 25% from fire blast. That means you only need to weaken her to 75% to get past heatran. The best part of heatran, and why I love to sweep with him so much, is that scarfrachi doesn't dominate him like he does to every other sweeper that has ever existed.
The moveset is odd, but makes a tiny bit more sense if you read more of the team. Heatran almost always gets an early switch in from roserade or gengar or gyarados. This gives it an easy oppurtunity to stealth rock, where the opponent will switch in their heatran counter. No dragon pulse because salamence gets 2hko'ed by fire blast, and latias is beaten by tyranitar and dragon pulse gives too many pokes a chance to set up.
Roserade@focus sash
Bold 252 Hp, 196 Def, 56 SpA
Sleep powder
Toxic Spikes
Grass knot
Stun spore
Not only that, but heatran has great synergy with a common toxic spiker, roserade. If roserade comes out first, heatran absorbs the fire, ice, and rare psychic attacks. If heatran leads, then roserade can absorb the water and fighting attacks (if it's ev'ed correctly). Thus, the combo of roserade+heatran was born.
The EV's are to let roserade stand a good chance of surviving meteor mash+BP, allowing roserade to beat the metagross designed to beat her. Most leads are either super slow or super fast, so roserade beats the leads she needs to and loses to the leads she'd lose against anyways. Plus it allows roserade to switch into stuff like latias and suicune, with her humongous SpDef. 56 SpA to ensure a 2hko on aero.
Top 10 leads:
Azelf - switch to ttar and chomp
Swampert - owned by roserade. ice beam is a 3hko.
Metagross - occa are easy. Lum berries mean my roserade becomes sac material, but gets up her crucial entry hazard and takes out metagross too
Aerodactyl - 2hko by grass knot, and doesn't even get an attack in
Jirachi - easy. Switch to heatran, set up rocks, 99% time switch back to roserade for the counter
Infernape - A problem, no doubt. Gengar can absorb the fake out and do some damage back, but leaves him really open to pursuit which sucks. I prefer switching first to gengar then to gyarados
Roserade - ugh. I don't like speed ties but it's better than flat out losing. Send gyarados to sleep and go to heatran
Tyranitar - send to sleep. Can't ohko with any move
Ninjask - go to gyarados and taunt
Heatran - take the hit and set up. Kind of sucks if they SR first, but still ends up in my favor (slightly)
Gyarados@leftovers
Adamant 252Att, 252 Spe, 4 Hp
Waterfall
Dragon dance
Taunt
Stone Edge
Next a water type was necessary to complete the trio, giving another fire resist. But an earth resist was necessary also. No, I don't mean pelipper, but gyarados was added, particularly since it baits out vaporeon. At first a bulky 3 attack gyara was used to much success sweeping, but having no phazers do deal with oddball teams was a pain (hail, baton pass), and thus taunt was added. Taunt helps with stall as well. Gyara finds plenty of set up oppurtunities with heatran, ttar, and luke. Considering a bulkier version, but not sure.
Gengar@life orb
Timid 4 hp, 252 Spa, 252 Spe
Shadow ball
Substitute
Focus Blast
Pain Split
The next choice was actual one of the original ideas for the team, and that was sub painsplit gengar. It's the first time I tried it, and my god painsplit is amazing on gengar. Heatran, particularly scarfed ones, force out fighting and ground attacks, which gives gengar numerous switch ins. Gengar can then proceed to destroy blissey, especially with toxic spikes up, or give gyara an easy switch to taunt and set up. Gengar also baits in tyranitar like mad, and most heatran nowadays aren't scarfed. 9 times out of 10 it is gengar who breaks the midgame open or brings me back into the game if I have a bad start.
Thus the main core which I really enjoy and feel is pretty solid is roserade, scarftran, tauntrados, and subpainsplit gengar.
Lucario@life orb
Adamant 252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 Hp
Close Combat
Swords dance
Extremespeed
Stone edge
The next 2 pokes I feel quite unsure about. I felt heatran's main weakness outside of those walls is flygon. Although flygon can't switch in to heatran (takes ~45-50%), he sure can take him out, and isn't SR weak. Thus I included lucario as a backup sweeper and a way to handle flygon. Scizor was considered, but the weakness to gyara seemed a bit too large (although I have hidden power electric on heatran). Lucario performed his job admirably, and I do like his slot quite a bit. He is also my only real answer to restalk gyara.
Tyranitar@choice scarf
Jolly 252 Att 252 Spe 4 Hp
Crunch
Pursuit
Stone edge
Superpower
The last slot is scarftar. I tried mixtar, but it didn't synergize enough. Scarftar does his task of beating latias and rotom-h very well, as well as azelf leads. However, sand stream makes life for roserade and gyarados extremely difficult. And although the analysis says sandstream helps gengar beat blissey, it's not really necessary and helps more than hurts. Having a 3rd earth/fighting weak makes life really hard, although the fact that they're scarfed helps. On the other hand, tyranitar is the only one on my team who can take special hits, and my third option against heatran. Personally I wanted a transition poke more like swampert and even tried iron ball metagross, who pretty much worked as well as tyranitar (beats skarmory bad). Any suggestions appreciated.
And there's the team!
