Well I wasn't exactly sure where to post my "hello" message to I closed my eyes and on random selection I came up with this one (Not really I just thought this was maybe where I was supposed to, my apologizes if this is indeed the incorrect board.).
I have played pokemon since it's launch in America (I am 21 now. Time sure goes by quickly doesn't it?). Pretty soon after that I got into Competitively battling at random tournaments and online through the PBS. Through the PBS I met some good friends and learned much from some very good players, such as Fish and actually to many others to name. When GSC was released I was also into that and started to learn the new system. At first I didn't care for the system but it soon grew on me and I continued playing and battling through GSbot. Well sometime before R/S was released I fell out of pokemon due to having to take certain other responsibilities.
Now due to some other friends of mine picking the games back up and asking me questions I have recently started playing again. Mostly I have just been hanging out on Netbattle waiting for any RBY battle I can find and playing my Leaf Green game. Next week after payment comes in I am going to buy a DS and Diamond or Pearl. Although I have a couple questions really before I make that decision.
Since I am looking to get back into online competitive battling should I pick up R/S/E first? As I said I haven't touched a pokemon game for competitive battling since GSC. I have really no knowledge of how the competitive battling system works for those games. I saw that this site offers a tutoring program and was excited to come across that but then to what I can see it isn't exactly active.So I guess what I am looking for is an answer to my question and maybe for somebody to help me out with learning competitive battling after GSC. Thanks in advance and I hope to mesh well into this community.
