Gen 3 Help! Fire In Your Pants!

Gligar (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

Thinking about switching HP Flying for Quick Attack because I mainly rely on the other two attacks. Also, this usually gets the opponent to use a Water/Ice attack, where I can switch in Tentacruel.

Miltank (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 212 HP / 180 Def / 20 Spd / 96 SDef
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

Hypno (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Insomnia
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Reflect
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Wish

Wish helps recover other Pokes' substitutes.

Shiftry (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Early Bird
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Toxic

Has worked wonders so far. HP Ice has caught opponents by surprise.

Machamp (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Facade
- Rock Slide

Tentacruel (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 212 HP / 214 Def / 44 Spd / 40 SDef
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Confuse Ray
- Mirror Coat
- Sludge Bomb
- Substitute

Mirror Coat works wonders against anything that counter Gligar. I like Sludge Bomb over Surf because I sometimes get countered with a Grass Pokemon.

Looking for any suggestions and advice.

Wouldn't it be better to go Bold on Shiftry (+Def, -Att) as you have no physical attacks, but you have a special? Unless I'm missing something...

Gligar (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

No. If you're going to lose something, lose Rock Slide. There are virtually no used Pokemon that are hit harder by Rock Slide than one of HP Flying and EQ, except Fearow, really. HP Flying hits other Gligar, Grass types like Vileplume, and a bunch of other random stuff harder. I would recommend Quick Attack or Iron Tail over Rock Slide. Quick Attack would help vs. Flail / Reversal, and Iron Tail can take on Lunatone and Solrock.

Unless, of course, you are using this in OU, which I only mention because you have Machamp, in which case I'll just say Gligar really doesn't work, sadly.

Miltank (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 212 HP / 180 Def / 20 Spd / 96 SDef
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

Why Jolly? You not only have virtually no Speed invested, you also make Speed irrelevant thanks to Thunder Wave. Also, max HP before you stick EVs into both Defense and Special Defense, it goes further. You could combine Thunder Wave and Seismic Toss into Body Slam, letting you use Curse, Focus Punch, Earthquake, or Counter.

Hypno (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Insomnia
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Reflect
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Wish

Without a physical attack, consider -Attack in case of Confusion to lower damage. Of course, this also lowers Struggle damage.

Shiftry (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Early Bird
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Toxic

Instead of Shiftry, you could use Meganium or Vileplume for this. Much better stats. Toxic and Thunder Wave are going to get in each other's way, though, so pick which status you want to spread through their whole team.

Machamp (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Facade
- Rock Slide

Not UU, so this elevates your team to an OU team. I'd prefer HP Ghost or HP Bug over Facade or Earthquake.

Tentacruel (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 212 HP / 214 Def / 44 Spd / 40 SDef
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Confuse Ray
- Mirror Coat
- Sludge Bomb
- Substitute

Confuse Ray is a really bad move (here). Say you use Confuse Ray, and then try to Mirror Coat. If they hit themselves, you've just blown the surprise. Substitute and Mirror Coat are also bad together. Swords Dance, Substitute, Sludge Bomb, Hydro Pump is a good set, as it something with Sludge Bomb and Mirror Coat but not Substitute or Confuse Ray.

Wolfheart, if someone isn't using the standard Tentacruel, then they have either considered it and rejected it, in which case you'll need to be a lot more persuasive, or they have no idea what "Druidcruel" means, in which case your post is still pointless.

Mhmm. The reason I thought of Quick Attack was because I was swept by a Flail/Reversal recently, so I just thought I needed it. From the NetBattle server I use, Machamp isn’t OU, it’s BL.

Also, max HP before you stick EVs into both Defense and Special Defense, it goes further. Guess I should have thought that through. The main role for my Miltank which I use is to heal my team, paralyze the opponent, and switch out.

Of course, Miltank bumps my team up to OU, so I’m planning to get a Vileplume. I’ve been testing this set out recently, and it has worked to some extent:

Vileplume (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 236 HP / 116 Def / 20 Spd / 136 SDef
Bold (+Def, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Leech Seed
- Sleep Powder

Without a physical attack, consider -Attack in case of Confusion to lower damage. Of course, this also lowers Struggle damage.
Thank you.

This would have conflicts if I replaced Shiftry/Miltank with Vileplume like above. That would leave one space open.

Not UU, so this elevates your team to an OU team. I'd prefer HP Ghost or HP Bug over Facade or Earthquake.
Machamp is BL to my tier lists and to who I battle at least. I’ll go HP Ghost.

Well, leading with Gligar usually forces me to switch to Tentacruel. And then, they usually have an Electric/Grass attack. So Mirror Coat finishes them off. :\ I’ll try that moveset, and see if it fits.

I take it this is a UU/BL team.

Isn't having both Miltank and Hypno on the same team redundant? I would ditch one of them for Steelix, just to patch up some physical weaks you have. Steelix also works wonders when put in a defensive combo with Gligar, who btw prolly shouldn't be used with such sweeper-ish Evs and nature. I recommend making it bulkier, max HP, Bold with around 300 def, and enough Atk to cause ample damage after one SD.

Some sort of bulky water like Slowbro/Quagsire/Blastoise/etc. would prolly work way better than your current Tenta. I don't even know what it's supposed to do. What, Mirror Coat stuff while SBing occasionally? Doubt that'll work.

Well, if you followed my advice, you'd prolly have no one fit to lead off with (slow bulky gligars don't do that well) so you're better off with someone quick and who poses an immediate threat like Jynx/Manectric/CBbirds/CBnormals over Shiftry.

Well, after much thinking, this is what I came up to:

Gligar (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Quick Attack
- Swords Dance

Vileplume (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 236 HP / 116 Def / 20 Spd / 136 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Leech Seed
- Sleep Powder

Hypno (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Insomnia
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Reflect
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Wish

Ninetales (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 140 SAtk / 116 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Confuse Ray
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Will-O-Wisp

Manectric (F) @ Petaya Berry
Trait: Static
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Spd / 244 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Crunch
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

Lanturn (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 52 HP / 66 Def / 252 SAtk / 140 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Surf
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt

Any suggestions now? The only thing I don't like RS off of Gligar, yet I don't know exactly how to fit it onto him.
