SV OU help with building my team (im a beginner)

okay, so im new at competitive pokemon, i tried to follow some tutorials and built a team and i would like some ideas to improve it

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Competitive
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 8 SpA / 248 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flash Cannon
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Roost

First, i have empoleon wich is the pokemon i wanted to build the team around, i made this set to counter specially alolan ninetales with flash canon and Gtusk and other annoying pokemon like garganacl and specs dragapult

Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Atk / 172 Def / 76 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Body Press
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

Tusk is another pokemon that i like to use because it is an excelent physical tank (at least for me) and also it has acess to rocks and rapid spin. Besides that he can also counter kinganbit and raging bolt and even weavile wich are mons that i see a lot of people using

Ninetales-Alola @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Snow Warning
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Blizzard
- Draining Kiss
- Tera Blast

i know that for Alolatales the common set is aurora veil but i decided to run a nasty plot one just for fun, and also because i felt it would be better than aurora for this team (im probably wrong but idk) and ground tera blast is used for countering ninetales's counters.

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Waterfall
- Dragon Claw
- Stone Edge

i decided to put dragonite because it matches well with i pairs well with gtusk, alolantales and moth. also because i thought i needed ground type immunity and also needed a pokemon wich would be nice to put choice band on, and dragonite matches well for me.

Iron Moth @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fiery Dance
- Sludge Wave
- Psychic
- Hurricane

well, was looking for something with a good special attack and to add more type coverage, and i decided that moth was a good idea for that

Iron Leaves @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 96 HP / 160 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Psyblade
- Close Combat

Okay, tbh i actually didnt know what to put in the last slot so... i added leaves cuz it has good attack and high speed with is boosted by the ability so it coud outspeed most pokemon easily, but i'll probably remove it to run another mon because i heard it is pretty bad rn

well sorry if i didnt put enough information, i didnt really know what to talk about each mon, anyway, any criticism or tip to improve this team is welcome.
And sorry if there are any english mistakes, it's not my native language :p

Hi and welcome to smogon!
Your team has a lot of fun options, some of which seem to be working better than others. For this rate I will focus on keeping Empoleon since it is a cool and unique choice that you decided to build around.

Building process:
Empoleon as a specially defensive pokemon is an interesting choice due to resisting a lot of common special attackers like Iron Valiant and yes it can help with Alolan Ninetales as well. However if you want it to help with Garganacl then you will need to make one major change.

Empoleon @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Competitive
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 8 SpA / 248 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flash Cannon
- Surf
- Stealth Rock
- Roost

This keeps your empoleon from being Salt Cured to death, while also helping with things like Nuzzle from Hatterene, Special Defense drops from Shadow Ball, flinches from Dark Pulse, and even confusion from Hurricanes. Since you want to use this to match up against Ninetales, I added Stealth Rock so you can lead off with this. This also has a good matchup against Ribombee, Deoxys, and other common weaker leads. You still have your strong special moves, and you can roost vs Dragapult so Ice Beam is not as needed.

:sv/Great Tusk:
Great Tusk @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Atk / 172 Def / 76 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin
- Knock Off

Great Tusk can drop rocks since you have it on empoleon, and I added Knock and Ice Spinner to pressure defensive pokemon and things like Gliscor and Dragonite.

Your set for :Ninetales-Alola: is very cool and I am just going to leave it be!

:sv/Dragonite:
Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch

Standard choice band set, you can also choose to use Tera Blast + Tera Flying but I think the standard version is fine.

:sv/Iron Moth:
Iron Moth @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
EVs: 124 Def / 132 SpA / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Ghost
Timid Nature
- Fiery Dance
- Sludge Wave
- Dazzling Gleam
- Substitute

This is the spread you need for Iron Moth to be a speed booster instead of special attack, which you want as you need another fast pokemon. Tera Ghost is chosen to help against opposing Extreme Speed and Zamazentas. I also dropped hurricane for Dazzling Gleam + Sub as you already deal with grass and fighting types pretty well.

Finally since you simply want a strong physical pokemon that can outspeed things, I will add the best pokemon in the tier right now.

:sv/Zamazenta:
Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Tera Type: Fire
Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Roar

Zamazenta is blazingly fast, helps prop up your physical defence, and can Roar out threats that try to set up alongside it. Tera Fire is useful for absorbing Will-O-Wisp and to prevent being revenge killed by Iron Valiant, which can otherwise be a pain since we are not using Heavy Slam.

Hope you enjoy the team and happy to answer any questions!
